"Our father is saddened that you didn't tell him the good news, he heard it anyway and he sent me to bring you a gift."
Wu Zenlin waved his hand and one of the servants behind came up with a parcel. "He also requires your presence in south peace city. There are some issues that he must discuss with you. See you there, brother."
Wu Zenlin spat out the last word and with a supercilious glance at everyone in the banquet he and his entourage departed.
Wu Zemin stared pensively at his brother as he left, wondering why he had bothered coming all the way here just to deliver a message. He snapped out of his reverie and plastered a smile on his face as he tried to revive the mood in the banquet.
From where Wu Tian was peeping from he had witnessed all the events and wondered what that all was about. He stuck around for a while but seeing that all the adults did was talk he quickly got bored and decided to go to his room.
As he headed there he met the servants taking all kinds of refreshments for the guests, they weren't surprised to see him as he zoomed by.
However as he nonchalantly passed by them, he noticed an unfamiliar face.
He wouldn't claim to know each and every one of his family's attendants but he definitely knew most of them. Besides there was something about the girl he'd noticed that made him uneasy, the uneasy feeling in the back of his mind rose up once more.
Curious about what the feeling was, he silently followed behind her.
He watched the unfamiliar maid also made her way to the banquet. She followed behind the other maids and as he hid in his spot heard his father announce it as three treasures soup.
A treasure meal made from valuable herbs and spiritual materials, the soup was then distributed to everyone and as he watched he saw the unfamiliar maid make her way to his mother's side and serve her the bowl she carried.
The uneasy feeling immediately intensified and as he saw everyone start to down theirs it got so intense it made his scalp numb.
Without giving it much thought. Wu Tian quickly dashed into the room . he didn't know what he was going to do but he knew with every cell of his body that he couldn't let his mom drink that soup.
he quickly knocked the bowl off his mother's hand and as he did the numb feeling on his scalp settled down. He then came to himself and instinctively looked around, as he looked around at the silent wide-eyed guests, especially his father's shocked face the numb feeling returned, he was fucked.
Rousing from his shock Wu Zemin's furious voice rose, "tian, what are you doing?" Almost instantly a hubbub arose as everyone started discussing this county lord's son
Those in the know immediately started to gossip
"Is this the city lord's adopted son? He's so big but he doesn't seem to have manners."
"this child is too playful he even came to play in the banquet. The city lord looks furious."
Luckily his mother collected herself and quickly took him out of the banquet hall. bringing Wu Tian behind her with his head hung low.
As he looked up at his silent mother Wu Tian opened his mouth and apologized "I'm sorry mother."
His mom stopped walking and stooped to look at him. "Mother is not angry at you, Tianer," she said as she affectionately rubbed his head "but can you tell me why you did it?"
Wu Tian hesitantly looked at her then said "There was something wrong with the soup, I felt it"
He nervously looked at her to see if she believed him and he saw an unprecedentedly serious look on her face, "are you sure about this Tianer?" She asked.
He quickly nodded. Lin Qing didn't look surprised, infact when Wu Tian went to knock her bowl she could have reacted but instead her attention was on the maid who had served her.
She had seen the wrath on her face when Tianer had knocked away the bowl, instead of the surprise and dismay a normal maid would have shown.
Besides as the lady of the house she was familiar with every one of her house maids and she didn't remember the maid who'd served her, it seemed that whoever had harmed her last time had gotten even more brazen, she thought with a cold glint in her eye.
Wu Tian on seeing this thought his mother was angry and tears welled up in his eyes, this roused Ling Qing from her thoughts and she quickly comforted him.
"I'm not angry Tianer, and neither is your father. We are just surprised but next time you feel this make sure you tell me, all right?"
Wu Tian nodded obediently. Lin Qing was relieved on seeing this and bade him to go play. She needed to go to the banquet and investigate that maid. She couldn't capture her forcibly based on Tianer's words even if she believed him.
Wu Tian pensively walked toward his room, he was thinking about the fact the increased connection he had to the world had almost disappeared.
It was extremely faint and he had almost gone back to the normal connection he usually had. This meant that the uneasy feeling had also almost disappeared, it was extremely muted. He wondered what had happened and if that tingly feeling had been and if it had been a good or bad thing.
Meanwhile Lin Qing went back to the banquet. She needed to know who that maid had been and what was in the soup. She found a servant and ordered her to get Wei Lin, when Wei Lin arrived she asked her about the unknown maid but Wei Lin was completely clueless.
Feeling that something was amiss she ordered the guards to find the maid but she was nowhere to be found. At this point she completely believed that Wu Tian had been right. She ordered the maids to find a pregnant animal and have it clean up the spilled soup.
After the banquet Wu Zemin had a happy face as he escorted the last guest away. He turned around to smile at his wife only to see her face flip like a switch.
She gave him a cold snort as she turned and went back in. He was flabbergasted and wondered what he had done wrong, had he looked at a certain woman too long? Sure, there had been some charming foxes that had tried but he hadn't really done anything out of line.
He was extremely baffled. Luckily for him, Lin Qing also respected her husband and wasn't hard on him.
"You scolded Tianer." She said as she peered at him
