Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Nova Strike Team

Sorry I was busy at work yesterday I couldn't upload the chapter I will put two chapters to apologize.

Raven did not return to the academy. The next day, Aisha had to personally come to New York to find her.

Aisha directly stated her purpose.

Raven only considered for a moment before agreeing to her invitation.

Selina's intuition was correct; Raven really couldn't sit still. She didn't like staying in the lab, nor was she accustomed to teaching dozens of children.

Since Spider-Man was still young, training the members of the strike team seemed like a good idea!

"When do we start?" Raven asked with some anticipation.

"We can start anytime!" Aisha handed Raven a stack of documents. "These are the intelligence we have gathered on mutant criminals."

Although mutant crimes had increased significantly, they didn't occur every day, as the number of mutants was still limited.

However, the academy had intelligence on those mutant criminals who had not yet been captured, and they could take action against them as well.

Raven briefly flipped through the information Aisha provided and asked, "I can choose from these targets, right?"

"Of course, you can arrange things however you want. Even if you don't choose these targets, it's fine!" Aisha gave Raven the maximum freedom.

"Alright, I'll go with these three." Raven pulled out three sets of documents and handed them to Aisha.

Aisha didn't ask for the reason; she just glanced at the addresses and said, "I'll arrange for a flight immediately!"

"By the way, what should we call our strike team?" Raven suddenly asked.

Upon hearing Raven's question, Aisha stopped and said, "It'll just be called the Strike Team, or the Carnegie Mutant Academy Strike Team?"

Aisha's voice became quieter as she spoke.

"No, that won't do! You've hardly ever carried out external operations before. 'Strike Team' is fine for now, but not anymore. Since you're preparing to go public, you need a formal name, and it should sound impressive!" Raven explained.

Aisha fell into deep thought. She realized that Raven was right.

Professor X had the X-Men, and Magneto had the Brotherhood.

As the largest mutant force, Carnegie Mutant Academy indeed needed a more prominent name.

After thinking for a while, Aisha suddenly realized that the decision about the name might not be up to her, so she said to Raven:

"Let's head back to the academy and prepare for the operation. We'll ask Ian about the name later!"

"Alright!" Raven didn't ask any more questions.

The two returned to Cumberland Island. Raven went to check on the preparations of the team members, while Aisha found Ian, who had just woken up.

"Ian, our strike team needs a prominent name. Please come up with one quickly!"

"It's just a name, can't you think of one yourself?" Ian said casually.

He really didn't care about the name. After all, impressive names were earned through action.

"No! The name represents our face, we can't choose casually!" Aisha firmly disagreed.

"How about 'K-Men'?"

"No, it's too similar to 'X-Men'!"

"'K Strike Team'?"

"No, it doesn't sound good!"

"That doesn't work either. How about you come up with something yourself?"

"No, you have to come up with it yourself!"

Seeing he couldn't avoid the situation, Ian finally compromised. "Fine, what requirements do you have for the name?"

"Hmm... Simple, pleasant, and meaningful!" Aisha thought for a while and gave three simple criteria.

Ian looked out at the sunrise, and he had a sudden inspiration: "We are mutants, the new human race. Our goal is to protect our planet... Let's call it the New Star (Nova) Strike Team!"

At first, Ian only wanted to ensure his own safety, but after gaining the power to protect himself, he wanted to protect those around him. Protecting Earth was a more recent thought.

After living in this world for so long, he had too many attachments.

For the upcoming calamity, Ian found it hard to remain indifferent!

Since the students didn't want to be idle, he would give them a noble cause. Ian was looking forward to their future.

"New Star Strike Team, a rising new star, that's a good name!" Aisha finally seemed satisfied!

"The emblem should be this rising sun!" Ian added.

An hour later, the New Star Strike Team had changed into new uniforms and equipment. The design and materials remained the same, but there was now a symbol of a sunrise over the sea on them.

Such a small change had raised the morale of the entire team by a notch.

No wonder so many people sell ideals and beliefs? It really works!

The twelve team members had assembled.

Of course, the New Star Strike Team wasn't limited to just twelve people, but only these twelve were suitable for fieldwork. The others either didn't have enough strength or weren't suited for combat.

After all, their goal was to arrest mutant criminals, and a certain level of strength was required.

Even these twelve weren't all involved in the combat, as some were responsible for on-site assistance.

The first day's three missions were relatively simple. The intelligence was detailed, Raven was in charge throughout, and the team cooperated well.

The capture process could be described as sweeping everything in its path!

After returning to the academy in the evening, looking at the excited team members, Raven had a mysterious smile on her face.

Unfortunately, none of the team members noticed it!

The next morning, the team members, still excited from yesterday's success, arrived early at the operations meeting room.

"Here are your targets for today!" Raven handed out a set of documents to each person.

"Just one mission today?" someone immediately asked.

"Finish this mission first!" Raven said sternly.

"Today I won't give you detailed plans, nor will I command you the entire time. You'll need to come up with the operational plan yourselves and handle the command yourselves!"

Raven's serious tone didn't intimidate the team. The success of yesterday's operation had filled them with confidence.

Thanks to the academy's long-standing moral education, the team members were confident but not arrogant. They didn't let their success go to their heads.

When drawing up the operation plan, they didn't slack off but aimed to make it as thorough as possible.

There were a few minor flaws, perhaps due to a lack of experience, but there were no major gaps.

During the mission, the team was careful and cautious, not underestimating the enemy. After all, the criminal group they were going after had six mutants.

When they arrived at the abandoned factory where the target was located, the team didn't rush in recklessly.

"Snake Eyes, scout the enemy's numbers and positions!" Leona commanded.

Leona Bell's mental link not only allowed for real-time information transmission, unaffected by electromagnetic interference, but also shared vision, making her the best for command.

So when it came time to choose a leader, she was unanimously elected as the team's commander.

Snake Eyes had the ability of thermal vision, allowing him to see through buildings to detect heat sources, even ignoring the interference of insulating materials.

His scouting abilities were stronger than infrared imaging devices.

"Understood!"

Snake Eyes' pupils turned into vertical slits, and his vision shifted. The cold building blurred into the background, and individual human heat sources appeared, with sentries in plain sight.

He then shared the vision with Leona.

Based on the previously devised plan and Snake Eyes' reconnaissance results, Leona commanded:

"Siryn, the two sentries in the bushes are yours. Take them out as silently as possible!..."
