Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Practical Results

The experimental process was quite tedious, but the results proved that it was all worth it!

The successful experimental data once again validated John's experimental model, proving that a 100% success rate wasn't just an illusion.

However, whether the actual effects of the X-gene implantation could meet expectations still required Rogue, the experiment participant, to verify personally.

Things like rule runes couldn't be detected by scientific instruments!

After waiting for Rogue's physical data to fully return to normal, the experiment officially ended, and the nutrient solution in the experimental pod was slowly drained.

As soon as the pod door opened, Selina rushed over, draping a large towel over Rogue and helping her into the adjacent dressing room.

Three minutes later, Rogue emerged fully dressed from the dressing room.

At this moment, she was full of energy, looking nothing like someone who had just come off the operating table.

Ian immediately approached and asked, "Anna, how are you feeling now? Any discomfort?"

"I feel great! No discomfort at all!" Rogue replied, waving her fists to show she was brimming with energy.

"What about your X-ability? Any changes?"

Ian was more concerned about Rogue's X-ability. After all, she had undergone an X-gene transplantation experiment, not a body enhancement experiment.

"The rule rune in my mind has changed significantly, but I'm not sure about the specific changes to my X-ability," Rogue said, shaking her head.

Since the experiment ended, she hadn't yet tested her X-ability. Because her ability was unique and its effects after the change were unknown, she didn't dare use it casually on others.

Ian understood Rogue's concern and said, "Alright, let's test it now!"

"Okay!" Rogue agreed instantly.

John saw this and instructed the other researchers, "You guys continue sorting out the experimental data!" Then he followed along.

Not just John, but Aisha and the others, who were eager to see the results, also tagged along.

The group went directly to the laboratory's dedicated testing site.

John adjusted various data collection instruments and motioned for the others to step back, saying, "Let's move further away!"

Once everyone retreated to a safe distance, Ian extended his hand. "Alright, give it a try!"

Rogue reached out her hand but suddenly retracted it before touching Ian, her expression turning hesitant.

Seeing her hesitation, Ian proactively grabbed her left hand, giving her an encouraging look.

"Don't worry! You can't hurt me!"

Ian had this level of confidence. His X-ability was already at level five, and unless Rogue's ability also reached level five, it wouldn't be possible for her to harm him.

Clearly, Rogue's X-ability couldn't have suddenly reached level five!

"I'm starting now!" Rogue took a deep breath and began using her ability on Ian.

Ian immediately felt a suction force, slightly stronger than before but not by much.

It seemed that this X-gene transplantation hadn't significantly enhanced Rogue's ability strength!

With this conclusion in mind, Ian controlled the rule rune, leaving a slight gap for a bit of rule energy mixed with rule information to flow into Rogue's body.

"That's enough!"

Rogue ended the absorption on her own, then closed her eyes, feeling the changes in her ability.

Ian also released her hand, looking at Rogue with anticipation as he waited for the results.

After a long while, Rogue slowly opened her eyes.

"How is it? What changes have occurred to your X-ability?" Ian asked immediately.

"The absorption ability has only slightly improved, but the absorbed rule energy no longer dissipates automatically. I can now store it in my body for use at any time!"

Rogue paused for a moment, then added, "And I faintly feel that I can store more than one type of rule energy in my body!"

"The strength hasn't changed significantly, but the shortcomings have been addressed. This should be the result of the transplanted X-gene fragment," Ian summarized the changes in Rogue's X-ability.

For now, Ian didn't continue asking more questions and handed Rogue over to John.

Rogue followed John's arrangements and completed the series of tests he had outlined.

Once the tests were finished, Ian resumed his questioning. "Anna, tell me about your experience during the experiment!"

Rogue recalled for a moment before explaining, "I didn't feel anything during the first phase.

In the second phase, as soon as I woke up, I felt a foreign rule energy emerge in my body.

This rule energy clashed slightly with my body, making me feel very uncomfortable.

However, under the suppression of the rule rune, this energy didn't erupt but instead flowed into my mental.

Once it entered my mental, the rule energy naturally began to coalesce into a brand-new rule rune."

Hearing this, Ian asked in surprise, "Did you form a second rule rune?"

"No!" Rogue shook her head, denying it.

"The second rule rune only formed a prototype before being suppressed and directly devoured by my original rule rune.

After that, my rule rune constantly reconstructed itself, becoming more and more refined until it finally stabilized."

Ian caught the key point: suppression!

Rogue's experiment had gone so smoothly primarily because her original rule rune suppressed the incoming one from start to finish.

If there had been any stage where it failed to suppress, the experiment's success would have been left to chance.

The reason Rogue's original rule rune could suppress and quickly merge with the incoming one was likely due to its more stable structure.

This completely aligned with the hypothesis John had proposed before the experiment.

At this point, Ian was finally convinced:

As long as the experiment followed the exact procedure, the success rate of X-gene transplantation was indeed 100%!

Ian admitted that he was tempted!

Directly transplanting compatible X-gene fragments was much faster than slowly perfecting his rule rune on his own!

Although this was a shortcut, if there was a shortcut with a 100% success rate, why not take it?

Ian wasn't someone who insisted on doing things the hard way.

Mutants' X-abilities relied on their X-genes to leverage the world's rules, something akin to a gift from heaven rather than something achieved through self-cultivation.

Thus, Ian now considered using X-gene transplantation technology to enhance his X-ability. Otherwise, relying on his own improvement was simply too slow.

That said, Ian didn't have high expectations for this method.

After all, finding a compatible X-gene fragment was a prerequisite for X-gene transplantation, and Ian didn't know when he'd come across one.

Moreover, his Elemental Mastery was already at level five.

How much could the gene samples in the gene bank help him? Ian wasn't sure!

"If finding a compatible X-gene fragment is difficult, what about starting with compatible abilities?" Ian pondered this question.

As profiles of mutants flashed through his mind, Ian quickly identified a target.

However, this target was difficult to approach and required extensive preparation in advance. Right now, Ian hadn't even found an opportunity to start!

Nonetheless, Ian had made up his mind to begin preparations for this matter as soon as possible.
