Chapter 70 - Quiet

After leaving Quantum Beat, Fang Hong headed to Xincheng University to prepare for his classes. He felt it wasn't a bad idea to study programming and enjoy a comfortable college life without any pressing matters. After all, the social reputation system couldn't improve his research and development skills.

When Fang Hong arrived at the school gate, he noticed a luxury Benz parked nearby, with Zhou Kunlu waiting inside.

"Mr. Zhou, look quickly! Mr. Fang is here! That's him, exactly as in the photo!" The assistant sitting in the front passenger seat pointed excitedly. He had already obtained Fang Hong's contact details from the school.

Zhou Kunlu, who had been waiting, immediately sat up straighter. Following the direction indicated by the assistant, he saw Fang Hong walking towards the entrance.

The assistant eagerly asked, "Mr. Zhou, do we go over to him?"

Zhou Kunlu wanted to approach him immediately but paused, contemplating. He eventually shook his head. "No, we can't approach him directly like that."

Confused, the assistant asked, "Why not, sir?"

Zhou Kunlu explained thoughtfully, "We need to apologize in person. It would be more sincere if we didn't bring attention to ourselves by interrupting him publicly. We should wait and handle this delicately."

As Fang Hong entered the school, Zhou Kunlu remained calm. He spoke in a deep voice, "Mr. Fang clearly doesn't seek publicity, as evidenced by how the school leaders don't know him. He must not like drawing attention."

The assistant suddenly understood. Indeed, if they were to approach him publicly, it could backfire and annoy Fang Hong. So, they decided it was better to reach out through a more subtle method.

After some consideration, Zhou Kunlu said, "Let's call him and see if he's open to meeting. We need to apologize in person."

Quick to act, the assistant pulled out his phone and dialed Fang Hong's number. He handed the phone to Zhou Kunlu.

Fang Hong had just entered the school when his phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out, only to find an unknown number calling.

He answered, "Hello, who's this?"

A warm, apologetic voice came from the other side of the line. "Hello, Mr. Fang. I apologize for interrupting your time. This is Zhou Kunlu from Huayang Group…"

Zhou Kunlu continued to introduce himself and explained the purpose of the call, clearly trying to make amends.

Fang Hong listened quietly, not responding immediately.

The call from Zhou Kunlu was both surprising and expected.

"Mr. Fang," Zhou Kunlu continued, "If you're free, I would like to meet with you in person and apologize. I will also bring the person who caused this issue."

Fang Hong, walking towards his next destination, replied casually, "I accept the apology. As for Zhang Li, since he's your employee, you may decide what to do with him."

Zhou Kunlu hesitated when he heard this. Realizing a meeting wasn't likely to happen, he swiftly shifted his tone. "Mr. Fang, your generosity is remarkable. As a gesture of goodwill, I will remit the 1 million yuan that was taken from you, immediately."

He intended to send double the amount as a form of extra compensation but thought better of it. After all, Fang Hong held significant influence, and such actions could be seen as overly presumptuous.

Fang Hong interrupted, "No, I'd rather you donate it to the disaster area for post-disaster reconstruction."

Zhou Kunlu quickly responded, "Of course, Mr. Fang. It's no trouble at all! Your righteousness is truly admirable."

Before Zhou Kunlu could continue his praise, Fang Hong, sensing the conversation was finished, cut him off. "Alright, that's all."

Hearing the sound of the call ending, Zhou Kunlu swallowed the compliments he had been preparing to deliver. He didn't have the audacity to argue, grateful that the situation hadn't escalated further.

After putting down the phone, he turned to his assistant. "Mr. Fang requested the 1 million yuan be donated to the disaster area. Handle that immediately."

The assistant nodded and added, "Should we also donate another 1 million in the name of Yuanmao Finance?"

Zhou Kunlu pondered for a moment before replying coldly, "Mr. Fang doesn't need our charity. Donating in our company's name reflects our sincerity. No need to overdo it."

The assistant, quick to agree, laughed nervously. "Of course, Mr. Zhou. You're absolutely right. Donating on behalf of Yuanmao Finance is the right way to handle it—low-key yet thoughtful. Maybe one day, Mr. Fang will recognize our approach?"

Zhou Kunlu gave him a sharp look. "Just focus on the task at hand."

The assistant quickly nodded and rushed out of the car to carry out the orders.

Sitting back, Zhou Kunlu made another call, this time to Shi Gang. As soon as the call connected, he commanded, "Get Zhang Li, the idiot who caused this problem, and lock him up for ten years. After that, throw him out of New City. I don't want him coming back."

Shi Gang quickly responded, "Yes, understood."

Zhou Kunlu continued, "And make sure no more loans are given to the students of Xincheng University. I don't want any more issues like this."

Shi Gang acknowledged the instructions, "Understood. I'll make sure it's done immediately."

Zhou Kunlu hung up abruptly, feeling the stress of the situation. Though everything was under control now, he couldn't shake the feeling of being unjustly burdened. His position in the company had become more difficult due to the reckless actions of his subordinates.

After this, Yuanmao Finance no longer dared to lend to students at Xincheng University, fearing that any student with connections to Fang Hong could cause problems for the company.

"Let's go," Zhou Kunlu said to the driver, leaning back in his seat with a deep sigh.
