Chapter 71: The First Fund is in Place

Fang Hong didn't care about how the tension would be handled. The matter itself didn't affect him much.

However, while Fang Hong was unconcerned, Zhou Kunlu couldn't afford to be careless.

The boss had told him to handle it however he saw fit.

But Zhou Kunlu, wanting to ensure everything went smoothly, knew he had to follow the safest and most thorough approach. If something went wrong, how could he explain it to Fang Hong later? He could make no mistakes, and by following the high standard, no one could blame him if things went wrong.

In a small room at Yuanmao Financial Company, Zhang Li, bound and locked inside, heard Shi Gang explain the situation. Zhang Li wanted to cry immediately.

"Brother Gang, you want me to go in and stay for ten years?" he asked, overwhelmed.

Shi Gang gave him a cold look and replied, "You should thank me for not stepping on such a huge landmine. Letting you go in and serve time is actually saving your life, you idiot. Understand? If you want to stay alive, step in and follow the plan."

Zhang Li could only nod in despair, silently accepting his fate. He understood that it was better to follow the plan and spend the time inside than risk something worse happening.

The operation was simple. Shi Gang had arranged a scene where Zhang Li grabbed a hand from another subordinate. The crime was serious, and the sum of money involved was huge. After being arrested, Zhang Li was sent to prison for ten years, serving time for something he didn't do directly.

The plan was carefully thought out—Zhang Li's arrest had nothing to do with the boss.

If Zhang Li had surrendered voluntarily, the police would have contacted Fang Hong for information, which could have created unnecessary complications for the boss.

Zhang Li's time in prison was something Fang Hong had no knowledge of. After his phone call with Zhou Kunlu, the matter was completely closed for him.

Monday, November 24.

The stock market was once again in turmoil. On the first trading day of the new week, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Index plummeted by -3.67%. It closed at 1897.06 points, falling below the 1900-point threshold once more.

Despite various positive stimuli, the market remained stubbornly weak, with standing above 2000 points seeming like an impossible task.

At around 4:00 PM, Fang Hong arrived at the headquarters of Qunxing Capital.

When he arrived, the receptionist was unusually enthusiastic, offering him exceptional service. Some of the employees had even learned that this young man had connections, and that the company's chairman held him in high regard.

In the CEO's office, Fang Hong met with Hua Yu. Neither of them brought up the earlier tension, as if they both had tacitly agreed to let it go.

Hua Yu looked at Fang Hong and said, "The first tranche of 2.2 billion has arrived. The remaining 7.8 billion will be coming soon, and it must be credited in full before the end of the year."

Fang Hong nodded in acknowledgment. "Alright, let's start allocating the funds immediately. Here are 65 asset targets across the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock markets that I've selected. We will start allocating them tomorrow morning at market opening. Whether through secondary market transactions or bulk trading channels, just get it done as soon as possible."

Fang Hong handed over the document he had prepared. Hua Yu opened it and looked through it. The material contained a detailed list of 65 asset targets, including the total size of each stock position, their cost, and other relevant details.

"Mao Ti, Wu Liangye, Haier Zhijia, Laojiao, Sanyi Heavy Industry, Fenjiu, Geli Electric Appliances, Yili Stock, Zhaoshang Bank, Ningbo Bank, Pufa Bank, Zhongguo Ping An, Changdian Technology, Hailuo Cement…" Hua Yu muttered as he read through the document.

The list included a variety of stocks: technology, consumer goods, banking, coal, chemicals, and both large-cap heavyweight stocks and smaller growth stocks.

Hua Yu couldn't understand how Fang Hong had selected them.

Fang Hong explained, "Tomorrow, all of the 2.2 billion will be used to establish initial positions in these 65 assets. It's just enough to build the foundation. After this, the positions will be expanded with the liquidity from pledging the stocks or any new funds that arrive."

Fang Hong had an agreement with Huayang Group to secure 10 billion yuan in liquidity, which would help in stock pledging operations. After several rounds of stock pledges, the liquidity would increase, and more funds would be injected back into the stock market.

This meant that Qunxing Capital was leveraging 20 times its funds for asset allocation.

Hua Yu nodded and said, "Understood."

After a brief silence, Hua Yu looked at Fang Hong again. "Why are we reserving 3 billion yuan in liquidity?"

Fang Hong responded with a smile, "This is for the company's basic operating expenses. It's the primary venture capital for our market activities. Just ensure the liquidity is always available when needed. I'll give you further instructions."

Hua Yu understood and nodded in agreement.

With the funds and strategy in place, Fang Hong left Qunxing Capital, confident in the capable hands of Hua Yu to manage the fund allocation. As the "hands-off shopkeeper," Fang Hong could rest easy knowing everything was being taken care of.

The Next Day, Around 11:00 AM.

Fang Hong received a call on his phone. Seeing the caller ID, he was slightly surprised. As soon as he answered, the voice on the other end spoke with a tone of sadness.

"I'm in Xincheng, can we meet?"

Fang Hong immediately recognized the voice—his ex-girlfriend, Lin Ruoshui. He had heard from He Xuan that she had dropped out of school due to family issues, but no one had clarified the specifics.

"Alright, it's almost lunchtime. Let's meet for a meal," Fang Hong replied. He didn't have anything pressing to do, so he suggested a meeting spot.

After hanging up, Fang Hong quickly headed to the designated location.

About thirty minutes later, they met at a restaurant about a kilometer away from Xincheng University. The restaurant featured a large transparent glass wall, offering an unobstructed view of the bustling traffic outside.

Lin Ruoshui sat across from him, silently gazing out the window, her eyes lost in thought.

Fang Hong ordered some dishes, and as the waiter left, he casually asked, "Have you sorted out your family affairs?"

Lin Ruoshui shook her head, remaining silent.

Seeing her mood, Fang Hong let out a quiet sigh, pouring himself some tea. He gently spoke, "If you need any help, you know I'm here for you. I'll assist you as best as I can."

At that moment, Lin Ruoshui suddenly burst into tears, unable to hold it back any longer. She quickly covered her mouth, but her sobs still echoed in the quiet restaurant.

Fang Hong, who was pouring tea, was taken aback. He set the teapot down, stood, and moved to sit next to her. He looked at her, concerned. "What's going on?"

Lin Ruoshui, with her head lowered, sobbed, "I need some money."

Fang Hong wasn't surprised by her request. He had already guessed why she had come to him, but he asked anyway, "How much do you need?"

Lin Ruoshui, still holding back tears, replied softly, "570,000."
