Lawrence
I arrive at the pack house, everything felt odd because it had been quite a while since I was here. The elders of the pack rushed towards me and ushered me towards the direction of the chamber room.
I had just recovered yet for some reasons unknown to me, the pack elders were already requesting that an immediate meeting be held. I protested because of course, I was not in the right state of mind to discuss anything with anyone. My mind remained on Camilla, her kids and the new man in her life.
Did he treat her better? Did she love him more than she loved me? I scoffed at the thought of that and I paused to run a hand through my hair in frustration.
"Alpha?" Elder Maxwell's cold tone interrupted my thoughts and jolted me back to reality. I blinked twice and gazed at him with a raised brow. Had he said something because I was not paying a single attention to any of them.
"I asked how you were feeling. Care to tell us what is also bothering you? Does it have something to do with your health so we know what next step to take." Elder Maxwell, the leader of the pack elders and oldest elder in the pack, threw questions at me.
I rolled my eyes at him. Even if I did tell him what was bothering me. Camilla. There was no way they could do anything to bring her back. After all to begin with, they were the cause of our separation.
"All is well. Can we dive right into the pack meeting? I have to be resting in my room so the treatments can work well." I stated in a dry tone. The pack elders mumbled to themselves and finally nodded their heads at me. They all pointed to Elder Maxwell andgestured him to talk, of course he was the boldest of them all too.
"It is about a Luna for the pack. This is the right time to remarry Alpha." Elder Maxwell blurted out.
I scoffed and eyed the elders in disbelief. Two years ago, I was married to a beta named Bella. Asides the fact that I did not find her interesting at all, she was unable to bear a heir for me. I had no choice but to break things between us.
"Too soon." I said. I wanted Camilla and obviously there was no way they could bring Camilla to me. Although I was willing to wait, maybe something would happen between her and her new man. They would break up and she would come back to me. I was holding out for Camilla even though it was a stupid move.
"It is not a suggestion Alpha but an order." Elder Maxwell said with so much confidence and authority.
"I have told you my decison. I am not ready to get married to some random stranger again. Look at what happened when I married a stranger, Bella. She was unable to give me a heir and we had to break up. Do you elders want history to repeat itself?" I fired at them. Elder Maxwell looked like he wanted to say something but I beat him to it.
"Marriage does not work that way, not even for the Alpha. The Moon Goddess needs to bless and approve of this marriage. I can not just marry anybody. As elders I thought you would be wise enough to understand." I said, I shook my head at them in disappointment.
That did not stop Elder Maxwell from talking, as a matter of fact, he continued to run his mouth. No wonder the other elders always chose him as their spokesman, he was always so confident. "We do not have any more time on our side. Are you going to sit around and wait till you get a hint from the Moon Goddess that you are to marry someone?" He snapped at me.
I nodded my head in agreement and muttered. "That is exactly how things are supoosed to work. The Moon Goddess will send the right woman that will bear me a heir and take good care of me. But until then, let us focus fully on the other affairs of the pack." I snapped back at him.
I was already feeling anger course through my veins. First off, I had been angry even before I arrived at the pack house, now the elders were just hell-bent on making things a lot more worse.
"There is no time! Can you hear yourself Alpha?" Elder Maxwell growled angrily. He was losing his cool already. Despite his old age, he was still agile enough to yell and throw tantrums. He annoyed me a lot.
"There will be time! What is the rush for? Am I fifty yet? No! I am not even in my late forties. A miracle from the Moon Goddess can still happen so I plead for you elders to think deeply and give me time." I said in a calm yet deadly tone. The others feared me, all except Elder Maxwell.
"For the last time. There is no time. We are the elders and we represent the people of the pack. Just because you are the alpha does not mean we have to listen to all your wrong takes. We have a right to air our opinions and orders too. The pack need an heir, they need a Luna." Elder Maxwell said.
"I will give them one. You have nothing to worry about that. Ask them to be a little more patient with me. It is all work in progress." I said nonchalantly. I already had enough of the elders and their stupid takes. I was exhausted by it.
I rose to my feet and flexed my arms.
"This meeting is over." I said. I attempted to walk away but Elder Maxwell's next words caused me to freeze in my steps.
"There will be consequences." He said.
I turned to gaze at him with a raised brow. What consequences?
