Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

Lawrence

I halted in my steps and averted my gaze to Elder Maxwell. A surprised look remained plastered on my face. "Consequences?" I questioned with wide eyes.

Elder Maxwell rose to his feet and nodded his head slowly. "You heard me very clearly. I and the elders have come to a conclusion that if you do not hear our voices and that of the people. There would be a consequence." He said, so confidently. I clenched my fist tight and fought the urge not to lash at him. First, a stupid meeting that was totally uncalled for and now a threat to me? The Alpha?

"Is that a threat, Elder Maxwell?" I asked with a stern voice. One of the elders cleared their throat and attempted to talk but Elder Maxwell beat him to it. "Take it however you see it Alpha Lawrence but I should let you know that this is not just my suggestion but also the suggestion of the pack." He said.

I scoffed and threw my hands in the air. "Can you people just leave me alone? I just recovered! Should I be stressed out from looking for a heir." I yell angrily.

"You do not have to look for a woman. We have handled that, all we need is your consent." Elder Maxwell said. He paused to turn to one of the elders and ordered "Fetch Mia, daughter of Elias, the beta."

I rolled my eyes. Another woman? Were they not sick of arranging marriages? Those never worked out. I wanted Camilla and somehow even with the fact that she had moved on, I was determined that I would still win her, sooner or later. The elders just needed to be patient.

I rested my back against the wall as I waited for this so called Mia to arrive. In less than a few minutes, Mia was standing in front of me with her head bent low. To be honest, she was a stunning woman, there was absolutely nothing wrong with her but she was not Camilla. I wanted Camilla and no one else.

"I refuse. I would rather speak to the heads of the elders. The Alphas that rule them." I said boldly. Yes, Elder Maxwell was the leader of the elders but that did not make him head over all.

There were three other Alphas who ruled over the elders entirely. They were powerful, strong and respected in the country. Alpha Albert, Alpha Einstein and Alpha Clement. Maybe if I saw them instead, they would listen to me rather than Elder Maxwell who was already blinded by his own desires.

"Actually, if you must know. Alpha Albert was the one who came up with the consequences and everyone of us here had no choice but to agree to it." Elder Maxwell said. He would not lie about such a thing which means there was no way out of this.

I either had to face the consequences or marry Mia. If only there was a way to pause things while I tried to convince Camilla to get back with me.

"What are these consequences you speak of?" I asked with a raised brow.

"You will be dethroned!" A deep authoritative voice spoke echoed from the entrance. I turned around and averted my gaze to Alpha Albert himself. He walked towards me with Alpha Einstein and Clement behind him.

"Oh hail the Alphas." All the elders, including Mia bowed their heads at them as they slowly approached us. There were three thrones in the chamber room kept specifically for them, they settled down on their specific thrones and ushered me to move closer.

"Alphas." I bowed my head respectfully at them.

"I knew you were going to be stubborn about listening to Elder Maxwell, that is why I had to come by myself and convince you that he has told you nothing but the truth. Now, what is holding you back?" Alpha Albert snapped at me.

I knew I could not tell him about Camilla. First, I would sound and look stupid. Second of all, they would never put her into consideration at all. It was pointless telling them about Camilla. Instead I came up with a lie.

"The Moon Goddess. I believe that this time she will reveal to me when it is the right time to get married. For now, she has not said a single thing. I think it is wise and respectful to wait for her consultation first." I stated with a slight shrug, I silently hoped that they would buy the lie.

"For how long? How long do you plan to keep the people in suspense? Do you not know it is such an abomination to be an alpha without a heir?" Albert Einstein was the one who spoke this time. I sighed heavily, my palms became sweaty and I was suddenly put in such a tough situation.

What else could I tell them? They were not going to let me go so easily.

"Unless, there is already a girl in your heart?" It was like they were taking turns to speak. This time Alpha Clement asked with a soft tone. He was the calmest of them all.

My heart raced extremely fast. I wanted to admit it that I still had feelings for the wife that they had once asked me throw out. I felt the urge to confess everything I felt for Camilla but instead, I remained still. I gulped a lump down my throat and i shook my head in disagreement.

"There is no girl." I said in a low tone. Alpha Albert nodded his head slowly. He rose to his feet and moved closer to me. He placed his hand on my shoulder and stared into my eyes. "So what is it going to be Alpha Lawrence?" He questioned.

I felt frozen on the spot. I was confused. Camilla did not want me but somehow I wanted her. Was i wasting my time?

"I will marry Mia, daughter of Elias."
