Over the next few days, Emily and I grew closer and closer. We sat together at lunch, partnered up for class projects, and even started studying together after school.
I couldn't believe how much my life had changed since meeting Emily. She was smart, funny, and had a heart of gold.
One day, as we were walking down the hallway, Emily turned to me with a mischievous grin on her face.
"Hey, Alex?" she said.
"Yeah?" I replied.
"My family is having a party this weekend, and I was wondering if you'd like to come," she said.
I was taken aback. I hadn't expected an invitation to a party, especially not from someone as popular as Emily.
"Really?" I asked, trying to play it cool.
Emily nodded enthusiastically.
"Yeah, it'll be fun! We'll have music, food, and games. And I really want you to meet my family," she said.
I hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to say.
But then I looked into Emily's eyes and saw the genuine excitement and kindness there.
"Okay, I'd love to come," I said, smiling.
Emily squealed with delight and threw her arms around me.
"I'll pick you up at 7pm on Saturday," she said, before skipping off to her next class.
I watched her go, feeling a sense of excitement and nervousness. What had I just gotten myself into?
