After explaining my current situation, he reluctantly agreed… on one condition.
I have to leave his house once I earn enough money to get an apartment. Which is fair, cause like, we only met today.
.
.
Arriving at his apartment, I didn't think there was going to be much, if I'm being honest. It was a little bigger than I expected, but nothing too much going on. Just a normal living room and kitchen. Spotting glass doors across the living room, my feet walked over. Through those doors was a balcony. There, you can see the city. Maybe not the whole city, but regardless, you can still see it.
"You like what you see?" I spin my head around, and softly, my mouth curved into a smile.
"Yeah, I do.." Reacting to my answer, he gave me a half-smile.
"Well, you're gonna like the room that you're staying in.." Upon hearing it, my ears peaked in curiosity. I looked over my shoulder, seeing the brightly lit city, sparkling the way the water would when the sun shines upon it. Glancing back, I give him a lopsided grin.
"Well, what are you waiting for? Come on!"
.
.
Standing in front of the white door, excitement rushes through my veins, hands visibly shaking from anticipation. Never have I ever been this eager to get a room.
"What are you excited about? It's just a room." Silas jokes, and opening up the door, my eyes widened, while words couldn't come out even if I tried. Just like the living room, it had a balcony, but with a much more of a view of the city. Besides that, there was a queen bed full of white covers with a desk that had a lamp beside it, including a mirror, a rug, and above all else, was a bathroom.
Walking inside, I felt like a princess, maybe even more than a princess. I felt the need to jump up and down, like a child would. Looking over my shoulder, my eyes settled themselves on his eyes. Before words could form in this head of mine, I jumped towards him. The sensation of happiness begins to overflow my body, almost as if it was possessed, forcing itself to move.
Sensing my lips changed to a grin so wide that I might've stretched them out, I lifted my head up from his chest. Silas's face was nothing more than pure shock, simply displaying a smile to cover up his expression, and yet seemingly, his eyes revealed a hint of tenderness.
"Thank you thank you thank you!" Finally, the words that I wanted to say blurted itself out. I quickly let go of him, and gazed at the bedroom. The thrilling sensation quickly washed over me, started touching everything I saw, leaving a buzz tingling in my fingertips.
This room, it's like I had something of my own now..
"Hey, I never got your name." Once again, my ears perked up when he said something. Glancing at him, I hesitated. Usually in my short-term missions, I would never tell them my real name. It is actually forbidden to do so. I tried that once, but couldn't speak for a whole hour.
I was gonna go with Lily, or Cassie, or maybe even Matilda. I know, basic names. But something struck in me, like a spark ignited itself in my brain.
"E-Evie, I'm Evie.." Rubbing my fingers with each other to keep myself calm, that name will be the closest name to my real name that I'll ever give to my target.
"Evie, hm, I like that.." He murmurs under his breath. "I guess you already know what my 'name' is.."
"Silas?"
"Yeah, that's the name.." He chuckles with a feigned tone. Gazing in his emerald green eyes, questions began to appear in my head.
Why were those men coming after him? Was it because he stole something from them? Maybe it was the blueprint they were talking about? It could be, since that's what they were talking about. Out loud too. And what's up with those numbers tattooed on their face? It looked like some child just drew on those numbers and called it a day-
"Evie? You okay?" My eyes blinked and quickly focused on him again.
"Yeah, I guess I'm really-" My mouth began to open and gape itself to let out a yawn.
"-Tired." Finally closing my mouth, my whole body began to feel jelly all of a sudden. Slowly, I shift my head over my shoulder, glazing at the bed I desperately wanted to lay on.
"I'm sorry, but is it okay for me to sleep on the bed now..?" I softly asked. Eyes were now getting heavier each second passed.
"Yeah sure, I guess that 'encounter' must've really drained your energy somehow.." Presenting me with a nod, my legs began to wobbly walk itself towards the heavenly shaped bed. Collapsing on top of it, eyes we're shutting themselves, completely feeling vulnerable. At each passing moment, I felt myself drifting away from reality.
"Let's talk when you wake up Evie…" I heard him say.
"Mhm…" I responded slowly before my body altogether slipped away from reality. I guess I really was tired.
.
.
"Hello..?" My own voice echoed in the very dark room I was in. Feet began to walk on their own, and I couldn't stop them. Only I could move my head, merely looking left, right, and forward. I don't know how long I was walking, but it soon began to feel like an eternity. At that moment, a bright, yellow luminous orb began to shine through this dark abyss I'm walking through.
"Hello..?" I asked once again. It echoed back.
"Hello.."
"Who are you..?" Asking it while scanning the orb, it simply was floating, touching no ground whatsoever.
"..." No answer.
"What are you..?" Once I asked that question, the ground below me started to collapse. Pieces of the ground soon were falling down to a black hole.
"...What do you think I am-"
Abruptly, I fall. But not before looking up, widening my eyes once I took a glimpse of 'that' orb.
No, it wasn't an orb anymore… It was that little girl I saw back at the boutique.
Same bunny she held too..
Then, her lips began to mouth out the word-
"Evangeline…"

Cold sweat broke out on my face. Heart was pumping, eyes wide enough to look like a porcelain doll. Breathing in and out with a dry, raspy throat, I licked my dry lips while clutching on my shirt where my heart was. One question was on my mind now.
"What. The. Fuck. Was. That?"
