Sitting up straight was the first thing I did once I woke up. Taking a good look outside through the clear glass doors, It was evening already.
Shit, how long was I asleep for..?
.
.
Letting my feet hang from the bed, I rubbed my eyes, wiping off the crust in the inner corner of it. Lowering my head, I spotted that I didn't have my boots on, only socks and the rest of my outfit.
I guess I must've slept on my clothes. Not only that, he must've taken off my boots..
At that moment, just as I turned my body to the side of the bed, facing the white door, my toes touched the ground, the throb appeared. Once again.
It was very light, nothing too much, but after it stopped, the ringing in my ear lasted more than it should have.
"I need water.." Wrapping my hand around my own neck where my throat was at, the bed squeaked when I got up, and the floorboards creaked quietly once I began to walk. Opening the door, glancing right and left, a wave of a delicious scent hit my nose. Inhaling it all and sniffing it softly, my entire body followed out the door to the smell. Peeking into the kitchen and placing my body against the wall, I watched as Silas cook. I didn't know what he was making, but it sure does smell delicious. Whilst the steam floated above Silas's head, I couldn't help but look at the table full of food. There was different varieties of it, like noodles, dumplings, rice, and sushi, and meat, and salmon-
"I see you peeking over there." My heart almost jumped out of my chest, he wasn't looking back, so how did he know I was there? Completely standing still, my lips quivered before speaking.
"I-I guess I was a little too obvious..?"
"More or less." A chuckle slipped out of my mouth, letting go of the corner of the wall my hand was clutching on, my feet shambled themselves towards the table filled with food. As the scent reached my nose, I couldn't help but feel my stomach growl in anticipation.
Placing my hand on top of my belly, I gazed at the food. There's no doubt I'm going to devour all of that.
You'd think a hot dog would keep me full? Hell no.
"You can sit down and start eating, Evie."
"Huh? What about you? Aren't you going to eat..?" Lifting my eyes to stare at him while I inquired about it, he looked over his shoulder, snorting as if it was something funny.
"Well duh, I am! I'm finishing the food up, that's why I said you can take a seat and start eating. I won't take long to join you!" He smiles at me, right before he focuses on the pan, flipping the steak over. "There's also something I need to ask you about.." The sound of the steak sizzling after that sentence made me tense. Slowly, uneasiness was crawling up my spine.
Pulling out the wooden chair with soft leather padding, I sat on top, pulling it forward to get myself comfortable before eating the meal in front of me. I started by grabbing the spoon to scoop some of the white, steamed rice out from the bowl it was in. Sliced the salmon with a fork, with steam coming out from the inside, my stomach growled even louder. Face feeling flushed and heated, I tapped my belly to keep calm.
It did not help at all.
.
.
Glimpsing at my plate full of different types, I already felt full just by looking at it. Picking up the salmon with my fork, I bite into it. It was hot, shitting my eyes tightly while feeling the burning sensation on my tongue a little. Exhaling out the hot air like a kid would do and flapping my hand near my mouth, I opened my eyes, shifting it to glance at Silas. He just finished cooking the steak. Placing the steak on a small plate, he comes over to my direction, letting it down next to the main plate I had in front of me.
"I hope you like it, it's well-done!" I gleefully hummed when receiving it. He leaves me with a smile plastered on my face, and I start to eat like it was a normal day back in my home-world.
I had a very big appetite, even now, I still do.
It was silent for the most part, almost like if I were to speak, it would make things even more awkward than it already was. But who cares? I'm enjoying the fuck out of my food!
Devouring it and leaving the plate with no left overs, it left.. a shock to Silas, to say the least.
"You never fail to surprise me Evie!" Chuckling is all what he seems to do when I do something either out of pocket, or just straight out dumb. Yet, it's so mesmerizing when he does it.
"It's almost like if I'm in a situation where I'm in need of laughter, I feel like you're always going to be there." He takes a bite out of his steak, chewing first before proceeding to say something. "But, who knows? You never know what you're gonna get in life. Everything is a gamble, you either risk the chance to have a greater opportunity or stay where you are in life just so you don't lose everything."
"What do you mean by that?" I ask, still having a smile on my face.
"Have you ever gambled before?" He shot his eyes up to mine.
"No." I answered.
"I have."
"What did you gamble with?" My tone of voice changed from glee to dubiousness. "Money?"
"No, something greater than that."
"Friends?"
"Close, but not quite."
Well shit this is gonna be harder than I thought it would be.
"Family..?"
"Getting hotter.." At this point why do I feel like he is teasing me right now? He's eating his plate with a casual and indifferent expression, bothering me way more than it should. Just as I felt my mouth going dry since I have nothing else to say, a word completely pops up in my head.
Why haven't I thought of this before?!
"It's going to sound dumb once I say it out loud but it's worth the try.." I thought, feeling more heated than before.
My voice squeaked with uncertainty as I said the word.
"...Love..?"
…He stopped eating, and there was a brief moment of silence. He didn't talk, I didn't talk.
Then-
"Bingo!" He shouts as his eyes light up, as if they were stars.
…Holy shit, I got that right?!
