Chapter 4 - Visions

Bella

While I awaited death, visions swam before my eyes. I was being paraded around a lavish ballroom, held tightly in someone's arms. When he whispered a joke against my ear, I let my head fall back as laughter bathed us in joy. I was so relaxed in his arms. It felt so right. As my laughter slowed, I lifted my head to look into his eyes. Something about his gray eyes seemed eerily familiar, but I just couldn't place them. All I knew was that I never wanted to look away. His hair was soft and lush with bits of auburn streaking through the coal black. His jaw was relaxed as a loving smile beamed back at me.

"Ara," he murmured as he lowered his mouth to mine. I melted against him as I kissed him back fervently. His hand slid from my waist around to grip my ass so he could pull me up his body to deepen the kiss. I pulled him closer to drink him in while his tongue continued to slide along mine, causing ripples of desire to course through my body. When we finally pulled back, I was breathless, making him chuckle as his hands went back to my waist. As he spun me around, I squealed happily, grasping his shoulders to keep myself stable as he continued to whirl us around the dance floor.

Once he finally set me back down on the floor, he pecked my lips again before tucking my hand into the crook of his arm and covering it with his own. "Are you hungry, my love?" he asked. I smiled up at him as I nodded. He led me to a series of thrones perched on an ornately decorated stage that stood above everyone else. They were trimmed in gold and jewels, a stark contrast to the one I had seen in Edward's castle.

After I was seated in the one the furthest to the right, he took my hand, bowing over it to place a kiss on the back of it. "I'll be right back, my queen." I watched as he crossed the room to where long, elegant tables covered in platters of meats, cheeses, fruits, and desserts were. I stared at my wedding band as an older gentleman appeared in my line of sight, making me smile.

"Sire."

"Silence!" He hissed. "It's King James! You are no longer allowed to address me! Just like you are not worthy of sitting on that throne! Get up!"

I blinked in shock. "W-what?" This was supposed to be my coronation ball and the day that I would be allowed to sit beside the man I loved. I would no longer be a servant to The Court but a ruler of it.

"I said, "Get up!'" He snarled as he reached out to grab my hair before dragging me out of the throne and throwing me down the stairs. My father-in-law, the king, rushed down the stairs to kick me in the stomach hard.

I cried out as I wrapped my arm protectively around my stomach. "STOP! I'M PREGNANT!"

His smirk widened, and he peered down at me as he drew his leg back again. "I know, and that little bastard you're trying to pass off as my grandchild will never see the light of day!"

"Father! STOP! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" My dance partner yelled as he rushed in our direction, only to be held back by half a dozen guards.

The King laughed maniacally as he withdrew an ornate dagger. I drew in a terrified breath as I tried to scramble backward, slipping and sliding on the slick floor. "P-please. It's his baby. I swear! There has never been anyone else. Please. Spare me. I'll leave! You'll never see me again! Please," I begged.

"Ara! Ara, you aren't going anywhere. You are mine! FATHER, STOP! DON'T DO THIS! She is already my wife! YOU CAN'T DO THIS!" My partner screamed as he tried to break free from the guards who were restraining him.

James smirked sinisterly down at me before raising the dagger. I turned my head to meet my partner's eyes as the King swung the blade down. "I love you, Edward. I will never say goodbye," I whispered as the blade started to slice through my neck.
