"People saw me leaving with you two, what will you do when they ask about me?" Weiwei did not give up and asked as she tried to find an excuse, anything that could change their minds and protect her little life.
"Oh! That's easy, you were so grief-stricken by your husband's death that you decided to travel the world and you left me to care for your assets. After a few months, the news will be sent home that you were involved in an accident and died." Xinya explained with her nose pointed to the air.
Xia Weiwei finally realized just how elaborate their plan was. She had to admit that they had really made good plans. Unfortunately, they failed to consider the fact that Mo Shian had already seen through their character and taken into account Weiwei's gullible personality. Hence, he made plans earlier when he wrote his will. And as expected, his preparations did come in handy at this moment.
"Well, I guess I was really stupid since the two of you have played me for so long, but I guess you are not the only ones who thought I was stupid. Mo Shian must have known I would stupidly give away everything, so he left a clause in his will, even though he left everything he owns to me, I cannot transfer or sell anything without the presence of his lawyer and grandmother."
"So, anything I signed without a lawyer, or where Mo Shian's grandma is absent is null and void. The papers you are holding are nothing but garbage."
"No matter what, both of you will end up with nothing."
Weiwei could not help but marvel at Mo Shian's way of thinking. He had written his will at such a young age. He had died at the age of twenty-eight. It was still difficult to accept that he was gone. The world didn't feel the same or look the same without him in it. It was dull and colorless.
But he had left a clause in his will stating that she could not transfer or sell anything without the presence of his lawyer and his grandmother, who, by the way, even though old at the age of seventy, has very good business sense. And she also loved Weiwei, so, she'd protect her interests at all cost. But, now that clause has prevented a catastrophe. She could have easily handed over everything he worked hard for on a silver platter to these two parasites. Weiwei felt more than thankful to her dead husband. She wished she had loved him more every day they lived together instead of wasting time on non-existent grudges. Even if he had been forced to marry her, she should have tried her damnest to make the marriage work.
After Weiwei dropped the bomb on Xinya and Shen Hao, she took advantage of their shocked state and dashed out of the cottage. After running for five minutes, she heard them following behind her and calling for her to stop or they would shoot her. She knew that if she stopped she would die, so her only option was to keep moving hoping that she would come across hunters or anybody and get saved. Unfortunately for her, that was just a dream, and she ended up running to a cliff.
She was now standing at the edge of the cliff with Shen Hao holding a gun and standing in front of her ready to fire. Xinya, on the other hand, was trying to convince her to go back to the city together. She was trying to convince Weiwei that everything they said was just a joke to get her mind off her husband's death. Of course, her stupidity would reach a new high level if she really believed her and went back with them, since they would just hold her hostage and force her to transfer her money to them. They might even use Mo Shian's grandma's life as leverage, and she was not ready to do that. She had already let Mo Shian down by ruining their marriage and getting him killed. She was not going to let the people responsible for his death enjoy his hard-earned wealth.
"I promise if there is a next life, I will make all of you pay." Said Weiwei with a pained voice.
"Oh please Weiwei, don't give me that boring speech about haunting us even if you become a ghost. That's what your mother said to my mother before she died and my mother is living her life well years later." Xinya interrupted.
"Are you trying to say that my mother's death was not an accident?" Weiwei asked with a trembling voice.
"Both of you are really stupid; of course, she was killed by my mother, not that you can do anything about it." Replied Xinya with pride.
"I will get revenge, I promise." Weiwei swore before she jumped off the cliff.
If she was going to die, she would do it on her own terms. She would not give them the satisfaction of killing her. Her life did not even belong to her anymore. It was bought in exchange for Mo Shian's life, and that is a high price. Xinya, Shen Hao, and anyone else who wanted to harm her could not afford it.
Weiwei's last thoughts as she descended the cliff were, 'wait for me Mo Shian, I am coming to join you and, if there is another life, I will be the best wife I could ever be. I will love you with every beat of my heart and give you the daughter you've always wanted. I also promise to make those who made us suffer pay.' Then, she heard the cry of a bird that sounded like a phoenix right below her before she hit the rocks at the bottom of the cliff and stopped breathing.
