Chapter 20 - Chapter 19

Katrina's POV

After we drove for two more minutes, I caught sight of large walls in the distance. My curiosity sparked and I couldn't stop myself from asking. "What's that?"

"The walls surrounding the Lycan kingdom," Mathew answered after I asked and I turned to see him focused on the ipad in his hold, not bothering to lift his head to reply.

"They are huge," I declared, my actions and words showing my lack of exposure and knowledge of certain things.

"Yes," Thomas murmured in a small laugh. "They are."

Soon we reached tall iron gates that opened up as our car approached and a man in black cap and a casual attire stood there. He granted the vehicle a salute regardless of the tinted glass aa we rode past the barrier.

The image that surrounded me appeared surreal as we entered the kingdom. Tall buildings and architectural structures were scattered everywhere I looked.

Minutes later the car came to a stop and I heard the sound of clicks indicating the car had been unlocked. I gazed at my company and he nodded at me, "you can get off now."

"Okay," I said meekly and fished around with the seatbelt before releasing myself. I let the belt roll back in place and snatched up the satchel I had carried with me.

About to push the door open, it was pulled open from outside, startling me a bit that I scrambled back a little. For the second time that day Mathew gave me a scrutinizing glimpse.

"Hello and welcome to the Lycan Kingdom," a young lady in a brown and black floral patterned dress with short sleeves that halted inches above her ankles.

She had black hair with one or two dyed blue strands which was hoisted in a high ponytail. She had brown eyes and I could see a striking resemblance to Mathew.

"This is Ariana," Mathew introduced as if reading my mind. "She's the head supervisor of all the staffs in this vicinity. The king specifically asked her to be ready to welcome you."

"Wow," I let out in wonder at the information I had just recieved, my brain trying to process the words as I was stuck between getting down and remaining in the car.

'What does this mean?' I asked myself as the lady named Ariana grinned warmly at me, her eyes showing excitement which heightened my curiosity.

"Thank you," I mumbled in appreciation as she stretched a palm toward me and I wrapped my fingers around it, allowing her to guide me as I climbed down from the high vehicle.

"You are welcome," she beamed, her vision raking my form as she took in my state. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," I declared, not ready to divulge anything about my life to anyone yet.

"As my crazy brother there outright introduced," she released my hand which she was holding and gripped my right palm, shaking it in a sign of greeting. "I'm Ariana and it's a pleasure to meet you."

"I'm Katrina," I disclosed my name and clenched and unclenched my fingers after the handshake, the inside of my palm retaining the warmness from hers.

"I like your name, it's sounds cute," she giggled and I was really surprised by her utterance. "You are beautiful too."

"I'm beautiful?" I asked in disbelief and for a moment thought about the possibility of her being blind but scraped off the thought and marked her as just being delusional.

"You are," she confirmed her statement and winked discreetly while I heard the doors of the vehicle shut as Thomas and Mathew got off.

I heard the engine of the vehicle get started and Dean rolled the car backwards, making a turn and steered the car toward the side of the building which faced us.

To my shock Ariana leaned toward me and stood at the tip of her toes, as she whispered in my ear. "Also adorable. I can see why the King insisted about bringing you over."

"What do you—" I wanted to ask but my question hung in the air as I got interrupted by Mathew.

"This is the King's castle or you can call it the King's Mansion, whatever you please," Thomas gestured toward the magnificent structure.

It could be said to be a castle but appeared really modern to be called one. It was a tall building which housed two floors above it. The exterior walls were painted in white and the food of the building lined with flowers of different varieties.

The front had two long pillars and I could observe the house had floor to ceiling windows. All I could say was it was a beautiful sight to behold, one I hadn't seen at Shaun's pack.

"This is where the king and his dignitaries live," Thomas explained as my eyes took in the image in front of my eyes.

"I live here too," Ariana said from beside me, bringing my attention back to her.

"Really?" I asked before I recalled she was introduced as the supervisor of all the staffs working at the king's residence.

"Yes, my brother too and his wife," she went on to say and my eyes widened.

"He is married?" I inquired not hiding my shock.

"Yes," she declared. "To his mate and the love of his life."

"That's sweet," I smiled sadly regardless of the fact I was happy to hear that.

"Why do you look sad?" She queried, noting my expression.

"It's nothing," I shook my head, partly in denial and partly to rid myself of the sad thoughts as I pondered on what life would have been if Shaun hadn't rejected me as his mate.

"If you say so," she shrugged and wrapped her fingers around my wrist. "Follow me, I'll show you to your room."

Before I could utter a syllable, she was dragging me toward the wide mahogany doors at the entrance and kicked it open without minding.

If I marveled at the exterior then one could say I was awestruck at the interior. Perfectly carved wooden artifacts, reflective marble tiles, shiny flower vases, sparkling chandelier, a large fireplace and a grandfather clock was placed in every corner of the room and the white painted wall.

"Come on," she urged, pulling me forward after I had come to a halt. "It's on the top floor beside the king's room."
