In my previous life, I was just a high school student. One day, on my way home from school, I was suddenly hit by a car.
Yeah, I know—I was probably the unluckiest person to ever exist. But this time, luck was on my side. Instead of dying for good, I was reincarnated into a world where Extraordinaries existed.
In this new world, my name was Lucius Frost. I was once again a high schooler, but this time, I was about to graduate and undergo my Awakening Ceremony—a once-in-a-lifetime event where I would form a lifelong bond and fuse with my spiritual creature.
That's right—this world was nothing like Earth, where I used to live. Here, monsters, portals, and Spiritborns existed. It was both magical and terrifying at the same time.
Thirty years ago, spiritual energy descended upon this world, shattering the very rules that once governed it. Creatures that humans had once dismissed as insignificant—animals, insects, and other lifeforms—began to evolve at an alarming rate. And in mere months, they turned against humanity, attacking cities and leaving devastation in their wake.
When all hope seemed lost, the Extraordinaries emerged. They looked human, yet they possessed the abilities and features of the very beasts that had threatened mankind. They became humanity's last line of defense, fighting back the monstrous tide and securing what little land remained. Over time, civilization rebuilt itself, centered around great cities where humanity could survive.
Eventually, the truth came to light—these warriors had fused with spiritual beasts and had made contact with something called the System. The System was simple yet powerful: it displayed a user's stats, abilities, and, most importantly, their Fusion Rate with their bonded spiritual creature. (More on the System and Fusion Rate will be explained in later chapters.)
This world felt like something out of a game, and now, I finally had a chance to step into the world of the Spiritborns and live my life to the fullest.
