The sun was blazin' bright, straight pourin' into the big, roomy living room, makin' the whole place feel like a slice of uptown coziness. Sophie was sprawled out on that soft - as - a - cloud carpet, havin' herself a real laid - back moment, just chillin' like a villain.
All of a sudden, some fast - paced footsteps came outta nowhere and totally shattered the peace. A figure came runnin' full - speed straight towards Leon. Sophie's ears perked right up, and her eyes went wide as saucers. She was fixated on that unexpected guest, thinkin', "Who the heck is this?"
Just as that girl was about to slam right into Leon, he reacted quicker than a New York minute. He sidestepped like a smooth, black panther, and the girl, she couldn't stop in time. She crashed right into Benny, who was trailin' behind Leon. The two of 'em almost took a nosedive, like they were in some slapstick comedy show.
Benny stumbled, and his face was all shock and embarrassment. His hands shot out to steady the girl. Before he could even say a word, the girl stomped her foot, all huffy. Her pretty face was all pouty as she whined, "Leon, babe, why'd you dodge me? I came all this way to see you. You're breakin' my heart here." Her voice was high - pitched and annoying, like a jackhammer in Sophie's ears.
Leon just stood there, his face blank as a slate, watchin' the whole thing. He furrowed his brows a little bit, and a hint of annoyance flashed in his eyes. After a good while, he finally spoke up, his voice deep and calm. "Jocelyn, what are you doin' here? You know this ain't no open house."
Benny rolled his eyes and looked at Jocelyn, all disgusted. "Jocelyn, seriously? Can you look before you go huggin' people next time? You almost knocked me on my keister. I ain't no crash test dummy." As he spoke, he brushed off his wrinkled clothes, like he was tryin' to get rid of the bad vibes Jocelyn brought.
Jocelyn's chin shot up, and she looked at Benny, all high - and - mighty. "You think I wanted to hug you? If Leon, babe, hadn't moved, would I have ended up on you? You should take a good look at yourself, you schmuck! You're actin' like a real piece of work." She flipped her hair, lookin' all full of herself. It made Benny's face turn red with anger.
The two of 'em started goin' at it, back - and - forth, and the air was thick with tension. Sophie watched from the side, rollin' her eyes in her head. She wriggled her little body, gettin' into a comfier position, and thought to herself, "These two are somethin' else. They're like those crazy ladies at the bodega, always arguin' over nothin'."
Meanwhile, Leon strolled over to the couch, all casual - like, and plopped down. He picked up his coffee cup from the table and took a slow sip. His eyes landed on Sophie, who was at his feet, and his cold expression softened right up. The corners of his mouth twitched into a little smile.
He reached down and gave Sophie's head a gentle scratch. "Hey there, little furball, you think they're bein' too loud? They're makin' a ruckus like it's a street fair out here." Sophie purred and rubbed her head against his hand, meowing as if she was sayin', "You bet they are! They're drivin' me bananas."
Just then, that annoying short - legged cat system popped up in Sophie's mind. "Yo, you gettin' a kick outta their fight? It's like watchin' a soap opera, ain't it?" it sneered.
Sophie shot back in her head, "Are you kiddin' me? It's drivin' me nuts! I can't even catch a break here."
"Well, you better get that task done quick, then you won't have to listen to 'em no more. Chop - chop, cat!" the system nagged.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. Back off, will ya? You're gettin' on my nerves," Sophie grumbled.
Benny and Jocelyn were still at each other's throats. Jocelyn had her hands on her hips, her eyes as big as dinner plates. "I came to see Leon, babe. What's the big deal? It's none of your business, so why you buttin' in? You're actin' like a total busybody." she shouted.
Benny's hands balled into fists, and the veins on his forehead were poppin' out. "This is Leon's private time! You can't just show up unannounced like this. What's wrong with you? You're actin' like a loon." he roared.
Leon furrowed his brows again, lookin' really ticked off. He put down his coffee cup and said, his voice firm, "Alright, that's enough, both of you! Cut it out! You're makin' a scene like this is a reality show."
At Leon's words, they finally stopped. Jocelyn looked down, like a scolded puppy, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her shirt. Benny was huffing and puffing, tryin' to calm himself down.
Leon let out a sigh, lookin' at the two of them. Then he turned to Benny. "What were you sayin' earlier? Spit it out." he asked.
Benny remembered what he was gonna say and quickly pulled out his phone from his pocket. He handed it to Leon. "Yo, the news about you goin' to the hospital last night is all over the internet. People are goin' wild, askin' what happened." he said.
Leon took the phone and stared at the news headline # Mid night Leon seen in hospital# and all the comments and shares below. His brows furrowed even deeper. After a moment of silence, he gave the phone back to Benny. "Don't worry about it for now. I'll post something on Weibo later to clear things up. No biggie." he said, all cool - as - a - cucumber.
Jocelyn heard their conversation and rushed over, all worried - looking. "Leon, babe, you went to the hospital? What happened? Are you okay? You're scaring me here." Her voice had a bit of worry, but mostly just plain curiosity.
Leon gave her a cold look. "I'm fine. Just a little thing. Don't make a mountain out of a molehill." he said shortly, and then ignored her.
Jocelyn stood there, all awkward. Her face turned red, then white. She bit her lip, feelin' super left out, but she wasn't about to give up that easy.
Just then, Sophie remembered the task the system gave her. Her eyes lit up, and she got an idea. She stood up slowly, waddling over to Leon on her little short legs. She rubbed her head against his leg and meowed, tellin' him to follow her.
Leon looked at her, all confused, but he got up and followed. Sophie led him right up to Jocelyn, then stopped. She turned around, looked at Leon, and meowed again.
Leon seemed to get what she meant. He furrowed his brows, looked at Jocelyn, and after a long pause, he said softly, "Jocelyn, don't be mad. I was wrong just now. Let's just forget about it, okay?"
Jocelyn's face lit up like a Christmas tree when she heard that. "It's okay, Leon, babe. I know you didn't mean it. You're still my favorite." she said, all smiles.
Right then, the system's voice rang out in Sophie's head. "Task completed. You got one point, cat. You did good, kiddo."
Sophie let out a mental sigh of relief. "Finally, it's over. I'm beat. I could use a nice long nap." she thought. She looked up at Leon and Jocelyn, then quietly made her way back to her little cozy nest, ready to catch some Z's.
In the living room, Benny watched everything, shaking his head in disbelief. "What a wild day. Wonder what crazy thing's gonna happen next. This place is like a circus sometimes." he muttered to himself.
