5:01 p.m.
Donovan returned to his apartment. He took off his suit, placed his umbrella beside the bed, and changed into casual, comfortable clothes. At 5:58, he instructed the Chef Robot to make him dinner.
After having dinner, he washed the dishes himself. Then he sat on the sofa right after. But as soon as he sat down, his stomach started to hurt.
Donovan sighed, and entered the bathroom. He sat down on the toilet and watched funny videos on his phone.
A while later, he exited the bathroom at 6:38.
Thirty minutes later, he got the urge to workout. He did some pushups, some situps, and some planks.
He was overjoyed, because in his previous life as Clark Smith, his 29 year old body was getting quite chubby. But here, in Donovan's 25 year old body, he was quite fit. This was the first time he experienced the thrill of working out.
He did this for an hour. At 8:41, he took another shower.
After he was done, he dried his hair, and did some flexes in front of his large mirror. After his hair was dry, he lay down on the bed. He turned the lights off before he went to bed.
He first did a recollection of the spells that he currently had.
Light Chain, Light Beam, Float, Flame Ball... As for Disguise, Invisibility, Decipher, Card Copy, those are most of the spells that every Visitor in any class-type learn when starting out...
I also have Lightning, Barrier, Light Spear, Blinding Light, and Holy Sigil... Huh, there's a lot of light-based spells... Oh, I remember. It's because "I," or rather, the previous Donovan, had a preference for it. Haha, how ironic... He appears reserved and mysterious, but his spells completely contradict that.
Well, I guess he didn't want to appear edgy. If he chose dark or shadow-based spells, I'd cringe so hard.
As he was about to close his eyes, he suddenly heard a rough voice coming from beside him, "Hey, don't fall asleep yet."
Donovan's eyes immediately opened, and he felt his heartbeat quicken. He didn't dare look at the source of the voice as he continued staring at the ceiling. He didn't dare breathe either. He felt his back become drenched in cold sweat.
F**k, f**k, f**k!!! Who's there?!
He grabbed the umbrella beside his bed, and immediately sat up, pointing the umbrella at the source of the voice.
A creature in thick, brown fur sat on the floor. It was heavily injured, its fur stained with blood. Its eyes were covered with fur.
The creature was about 9-10 inches tall, and it looked identical to a dog.
Then, the "dog" spoke again in a rough voice, "Put down your umbrella, and let me explain."
Donovan lowered the umbrella slightly, his heart telling him not to point a weapon at an "animal," and his brain telling him to keep pointing it at the talking animal.
"Explain, then." Donovan said.
The "dog" said in a rough voice, "My apologies for giving you a fright. My name is, hm—... You can just call me 'Dog,' or anything you want."
The creature paused, and said after six seconds, "A few hours earlier, while you were watching that spaceship being lowered, I came inside your body."
...What?
"I'm sorry, that sounded wrong. I entered—... hid inside your body. I'm sure you felt it, yes?"
I did feel a cold wind hit my back earlier... Was that this dog's doing?
The creature continued, "Ask your questions. You must be puzzled why I came—... hid inside your body."
Donovan relaxed a little, but he kept his guard up. He replied, "Tell me your real name, and what exactly you are."
The creature continued staring at Donovan, "You don't need to know my name. As for what I am, I believe you humans call me... 'Vorlans,' yes? Ring a bell?"
Vorlans...
The information about Vorlans appeared in his mind, information that the previous Donovan knew.
Vorlans, also known as the creatures of the same species as the World Devourer Beast, is an alien species most commonly found on the planet 29-Devolwar-11. Their adult forms could reach up to 30-45 feet tall, with some of the most oldest Vorlans reaching up to 60 feet tall.
Vorlans were usually peaceful, but not to the unfortunate Annihiliths that stumble upon their world.
But what didn't sit right with Donovan was the fact that there were no known records of Vorlans being able to speak! And there was one right in front of him!
The talking Vorlan scratched its neck, and said right after, "Yes, yes, you must be wondering why I'm able to speak. That's a secret for now."
Donovan didn't dare tell the Vorlan, "No, tell me now" because there were some things that he still wasn't sure about.
Instead, he asked, "Why are you here?"
"There it is." The Vorlan paused, and continued, "Do you see the blood on my fur? Yes, I'm sure you do. I am heavily injured. You were the first human I saw once I escaped that spaceship, and I needed to hide somewhere to recover my strength."
Escaped? This Vorlan came from that spaceship?
"Why were you on the spaceship? What were you doing there? What happened?" Donovan asked repeatedly, forgetting about his mysterious and reserved persona.
The Vorlan replied in a deep, rough voice, "A bunch of Klotarians caught me and was going to sell me to Umbrellas. I only woke up when the ship was starting to spin, which means I don't know what exactly happened to the ship for it to start spinning like that. As for how I got caught and what I was doing before that, I'll tell you when I trust you enough. I'm sure that won't be long, Donovan."
Donovan's eyes widened, because he's never told the Vorlan his name before!
"How do you know my name?" Donovan quickly asked.
"I saw your ID." The Vorlan said with a rough voice.
Donovan sighed, "What makes you think I'll let you stay? You're just another mouth to feed."
"You say that, but you seem to be living a normal and stable life, no? Plus, you're a Visitor. You're plenty rich."
"..." Donovan stayed silent, not knowing how to respond.
"I believe it'll take me a few months for my strength to fully recover. If you let me stay, I'll help you. Plus, I'm quite knowledgeable. If you don't know about certain things, you can ask me." The Vorlan looked around, and continued, "Also, buy a bed for me."
You're just like a dog, except you're alien and can talk... This Vorlan's making a good offer... I can just ask it about things I don't know about. Problem is, I'm giving away my privacy if I let this dog, no—this Vorlan stay...
Donovan put down the umbrella and let it rest beside his bed. Then, the Vorlan suddenly leaped onto the bed, lying down on the second pillow, and the Vorlan even put a blanket over itself. It then yawned.
You sound like an old man, yet you act a bit like a child... Donovan sighed and said, "Get off. Sleep on the floor."
He heard the Vorlan say, "There's still plenty of space on the bed."
I wouldn't have told you to sleep on the floor if you had a feminine voice and if you told me you're a female in disguise! You're likely an old man, and I don't want to sleep next to you!
Donovan tried hard not to carry the Vorlan and throw it off the bed. Sighing, Donovan grabbed a pillow and went to the sofa. He didn't wish to argue with a talking Vorlan because he was tired and he wanted to sleep.
Ugh, my bed's going to have so much fur the next morning...
Donovan suddenly recalled the dog he had in his previous life as Clark Smith. He named the dog Max.
He felt a deep sense of sorrow as he thought about his pet dog.
I suddenly transmigrated, leaving Max alone... I hope someone's taking care of him right now...
Then, he lay down on the sofa, trying to quell his feelings of sadness and worry so he could sleep.
