Chapter 3 - She has someone in her heart

After a moment, Steven stood up and said in a calm tone, "Go take a shower."

Daisy was taken aback and blushed, then quickly lowered her head and ran out.

When she went to find Joseph earlier, she was soaked through by the rain and her clothes were still wet.

The hot water from the showerhead gradually warmed Daisy's body, but her mind was filled with thoughts of what might happen next, causing her heart to beat faster and faster.

Joseph had never touched her before, and she had never been in such close contact with a man.

When Daisy finished her shower and came out, she realized that the room was empty. Steven, who had been in the room earlier, was nowhere to be seen.

She was surprised at first, but then let out a sigh of relief, feeling a sense of disappointment and lowered her lashes.Perhaps Steven didn't want to touch her, so he left while she was showering.

Perhaps in his eyes, she was deliberately trying to seduce him earlier.

Daisy couldn't describe the feeling in her heart. She made a bed on the floor and gave the bed to Steven.

She had only been trying to dispel his suspicions earlier, but she didn't expect Steven to be so disgusted with her.Since he didn't like her, she wouldn't bepresumptuous anymore.

It was late at night.

Daisy finished washing her clothes and went to bed alone.

The empty and dark tiled house made Daisy lie on the bed, staring at the ceiling.

Today is the anniversary of her parents' death.

On a stormy night a year ago, she was on her way back from visiting her grandmother in the village with her parents when the brakes failed andtheir car slid into the river.

The swift current swept her mother away, and her father, in an effort to save her, pushed her out of the car through the sunroof but was unable to escape himself.

Daisy was too weak to climb onto the riverbank and could only cling to a tree branch, consumed by fear.

"Help...help me," she cried out desperately.

Silence surrounded her, and no one answered.

As time passed, Daisy's strength waned, and she became increasingly faint. Her grip on the branch loosened, and her body sank to the riverbed as the frigid water rushed into her nose and mouth, leaving her helpless and struggling. She began to suffocate.

In her daze, a strong arm wrapped around her waist and pulled her out of the water with a loud splash.

She was placed on the ground.A pair of hands rhythmically pressed on her heart, and then a cold pair of lips pressed against hers, repeatedly blowing air into her lungs to perform CPR.

After what seemed like an eternity, Daisy finally coughed up several mouthfuls of water, and her scattered consciousness slowly returned.

"You're safe now," a deep, cold voice said, accompanied by the sound of rain, "Don't worry, I'm here."

It was raining heavily that night.

Through her blurred vision, Daisy couldn't see his face clearly, but she could vaguely make out his tall figure clad in black combat gear. He lifted her up and held her tightly in his arms, his strong chest radiating heat and his steady heartbeat reassuring her.

He took off his combat gear and draped it over her.

Daisy's body was ice-cold, but his scorching body temperature, separated by the wet black T-shirt that clung to her, radiated onto her like the only warmth in the dead of winter. She couldn't help but press her body against his and wrap her arms around him.

"I'll take you to the hospital."His voice was calm and steady, with a slightly cold tone, but it gave her a strong sense of security.

As they neared the hospital, Daisy's exhausted nerves couldn't hold on any longer, and she fell unconscious again.

***

On a rainy night, the cemetery on the outskirts of the city was quiet.

Several black cars were parked in an open space.

Steven stood by the car, with two men in black standing behind him, respectfully holding umbrellas for him.

An elderly butler-like man handed him a phone.

"Young Master Three, President Martinez is on the line."

Steven glanced coldly at the phone and picked it up.

Before he could even put it to his ear, a middle-aged man's angry voice came through the phone.

"Lucius, you've been gone from Youth City for half a year. When are youcoming back?"

Steven paused for a moment and said calmly, "Dad, my name is not Lucius, it's Steven."

"Fine! You changed your name too, Lucius! Do you still have your father or the Martinez Family in your eyes?" The man roared in anger.

Steven was cold and distant. "Dad, when you named me after your mistress, did you even think about my mother and me?" There was silence on the other end of the phone.

Steven continued, "When you change my name in the family tree, I'll come back to Youth City." The man on the phone lowered his angry voice, "I'll handle it. But you have to come back to Youth City this month. Grandma's health is not good, and you need to get married soon." Before he could finish, Steven hung up and threw his phone aside.

The old butler on the other side cautiously picked up the phone and asked, "Young Master, should you go back to Youth City?"

Steven shook his head coldly, "No need. My dad is probably busy with his mistress and can't handle the company. He's short on money and wants me to come back. Transfer two million to his account later." The old butler nodded, looking embarrassed. The bodyguards were also awkward. The father and son of the Martinez Family were completely different. The father was a mess in running the company, busy with women and surrounded by scandals.

On the other hand, Steven was a business prodigy, indifferent to women and even had male assistants. Steven had emotional deficiencies since childhood and was indifferent to people and things, even to his own father. But now, at the age of 26, he didn't even have a girlfriend, which worried the entire Martinez Family that he might have a problem with his sexual orientation.

The old butler dared not say more and changed the subject, "Young Master, did you find the girl who was abducted in River City?" Steven pondered for a moment.

"Found it, in River City"
