Chapter 77 - Chapter 77

New York. Outside the exhibition venue, Fountain Square.

Luke lay in the cockpit, panting a little, his hands clenched tightly around the dragon horn joystick, sweat-soaked. The difficulty of the Mark VI exceeded his previous expectations. The main reason was the vibranium.

He had seriously underestimated Vibranium. In reality, Vibranium was even more powerful than he had known. It was simply a BUG.

This metal was not only indestructible; it could absorb almost any form of energy. The most abnormal part was that it could actually store and reuse the absorbed energy.

Just now, Luke had used his Asura Evil Light Slash, and the edge of his sword energy had barely brushed against Tony. However, Tony was knocked hundreds of meters away, yet his iron suit remained undamaged.

Instead, immediately afterward, a chest cluster gun had fired at him.

The energy contained in this cluster cannon, in addition to the magic power attached to the Arc Reactor, actually carried the wave power of Asura.

"Vibranium is so broken!"

Luke was so envious that his saliva was almost dripping.

In the cockpit, several small red warning lights flashed next to Luke's little face.

This was a sign of damage to the War Lord's internal structure.

After diagnosis, Christina gave the result that the main structure of the War Lord had been damaged by 7%, but it could still continue to fight.

Most of these injuries were caused by Tony's extremely powerful chest reactor cluster cannon.

In comparison, the short, flat, and fast palm-shaped arc pulse cannon could not harm him.

Tony had used it a few times before immediately discarding it.

The fact that it was not a threat to the War Lord was not the main reason. The main reason was that every time a pulse cannon hit him, Tony would inexplicably be struck by lightning.

Tony still couldn't figure out how this lightning worked.

Jarvis had no conclusion on this either.

By the time the two had fought, they had used almost every trick they could.

Even Tony's coolest move, high-energy laser spiral cutting, had been used—just like in the movie Iron Man 2.

In the movie, Tony and Rhodey had been surrounded by a group of Iron Soldiers. Tony had shouted to Rhodey to squat down and then had shot out a red beam laser from each of his palms. With a stylish spiral cut, he had wiped out all the Iron Soldiers at once.

This high-energy laser cutting seemed to be a one-time-use weapon and could only be activated once per combat.

Unfortunately, Tony had faced Luke with both palms and had used the two high-energy lasers to irradiate Luke for ten seconds.

In the end, he was only ridiculed by Luke.

Lasers, after all, were electromagnetic waves, causing electrical and thermal energy damage to objects.

However, this temperature was just a tickle for adamantium alloy, which would not deform even under ultra-high temperatures of 500,000 degrees Celsius.

Luke was well aware of his mecha's weakness: it was afraid of kinetic damage.

As for heat and electrical damage, the adamantium coating on the surface made him almost immune.

Tony didn't know that.

All he saw was that no matter how he attacked, the monster opposite him—bigger than Iron Man—barely moved.

Only the cluster gun, which gathered all the reactor's energy, could slightly shake the opponent.

Tony rated the War Lord's threat level far higher than Iron Monger.

The Mark VI was an all-purpose suit, capable of being equipped with anything—even for underwater combat. In addition to the weapons already used, this suit also carried several small missiles.

There were dozens of tiny armor-piercing bullets.

The micro-launchers on the shoulders of the Iron Man suit had been used against Whiplash in the movie.

After careful consideration, Tony decided not to use these armor-piercing shells.

Something like adamantium couldn't be penetrated by armor-piercing bullets.

He didn't know that if he had used them, the effect would have been very good.

Armor-piercing bullets couldn't penetrate the War Lord's surface, but their kinetic energy was not to be underestimated. They could have caused internal shock damage.

In the end, Tony even considered his ultimate weapon—an anti-tank missile.

This weapon was specifically used for heavy units. He had used it to destroy tanks in the Middle East, and the big guy in front of him clearly fit the description.

However, Tony ultimately abandoned this plan.

Although the Apostle had provoked him multiple times, and the two seemed naturally incompatible, it had not yet reached the point of using missiles.

Tony looked around and realized that this beautiful square had been completely ruined.

Things had gotten out of hand.

The destruction caused by these two tonight was several times greater than that of Hammer's Iron Soldiers.

Well… Tony glanced at the half-collapsed venue in the distance. The destructive power was dozens of times greater.

This was all because of the Apostle. He had no scruples during the fight.

Tony didn't care about repair costs. He just wanted to know how much longer this fight would last. From the start, this battle had confused him.

Just as Tony decided not to launch the missile, Luke silently pulled out the only adamantium grenade he had crafted from his storage space.

After some thought, he put it back.

Luke's thoughts were the same as Tony's. He and Tony had no deep hatred—he was purely trying to earn points, so there was no need to use a weapon that powerful.

This grenade could differentiate between friend and foe within a kilometer radius. If used, even Luke would suffer.

"Apostle, we need to talk," Tony said, standing thirty meters away.

"What do we need to talk about?" Luke's tone was more relaxed.

Just now, Ross had informed him that his mission had reached A-level. According to Ross, Luke's antics tonight were the most shameless—even for him.

An A-level rating corresponded to a design blueprint for an artifact-level sword weapon, taken from Ross' collection over the years.

"I don't think we need to fight."

Tony pointed at the devastated square, then at the reporters cowering in the distance.

He said, "I don't see any reason to escalate things further. As much as I hate you, I don't think this fight is meaningful. You should know very well that you can't beat me."

"Oh? Really?" Luke smirked inside the mech and said, "Is this your way of making peace?"

"If you want to fight, we can do it another time, another place. But not tonight. Things are bad enough," Tony said.

Just now, he had received several calls—one from the President himself and one from Nick Fury, both ordering him to stop immediately.

Luke shrugged inside the War Lord. "Whatever. How about we shake hands and call it a truce?"

"Shake hands?" Tony looked skeptical and didn't move.

Luke controlled the mecha, stomping forward slowly with a heavy 'boom boom'.

"It's just a handshake. Relax. Believe me, I tried earlier, and you didn't die from one punch."

Tony wasn't sure how he was supposed to shake hands with something that big.

"You're up to something." Tony knew it.

He had figured out Luke's style by now. The Apostle was definitely going to mess with him again.

He just couldn't figure out how—yet.
