Chapter Three
The day was slowly coming to an end, Lilian's mind was still reeling as Floyd led her outside the wedding hall to a black sleek car parked outside. There was a crowd taking pictures of them as they walked to the car. He opened the door for her like a gentle man and she got in, enjoying every moment of it.
As they drove through the city, almost getting to the mansion, Lilian began to think about all that had happened in less than a day. She couldn't stop her mind from thinking of the threats Cindy laid at the wedding. She could tell they were not empty threats. What do the people now think of her?
"Are you okay? You seem really carried away" Floyd asked, noticing she seemed disturbed.
"Yes, I am fine. Just can't wait to see the mansion. I know it would really be huge for a personality like you" She lied.
Floyd noticed she was worried rather than excited and chose not to say much as he looked at his driver while he continued driving.
After some minutes, they turned into a driveway that wound its way up to a very massive mansion. Lilian's eyes widened in shock, she knew the mansion was huge but not this massive. She couldn't believe her sight, it was like a dream.
"Welcome to our home," Floyd said, smiling.
Lilian felt astonished by the fact that he regarded it as their home. The words rang a bell to her as she blushed lightly.
As they got out of the car, his butler appeared to take their bags, gifts and luggages out of the car. Floyd led Lilian inside, and began to show her the decor of the house as they walked through the hallway.
"You have a good taste." Lilian complimented him with a smile on her face.
She realises his choice of colour blends for the house and it was quite astonishing. She also noticed Floyd was a lover of art, with all the artifacts she saw hung on the walls.
Floyd took a pause "I'll give you a tour round the mansion later," Floyd said, taking her hand. "Right now, I think you need to rest, we never really slept last night remember?"
Lilian nodded, as a thought reeled through her mind 'Why did he marry her? Was it all for the moment they had together earlier or it was something more?"
Floyd gently led her upstairs to his beautiful bedroom suite which has now become theirs. Lilian began to pace round the room to the balcony, the dressing room, the jacuzzi, she found them all thrilling.
"I'll leave you alone for now, so you can freshen up while I go downstairs for some work." he said, smiling. "But don't worry, I'll be back soon."
As he turned to leave, Lilian couldn't take her eyes off him. He was really handsome and she is shocked she has him as a husband.
Not too long after Floyd left, Lilian heard the bell ring. Someone was at the entrance. But who could possibly come by to visit? After all, they just left the wedding not long ago.
Floyd headed towards the door to take a look at who came to visit. He opened the door almost immediately "Mother," he said, his voice cold. "I wasn't expecting you." He was surprised to see his mother.
And with that, he closed the door, as she entered the house.
Lilian's mind was racing, she could hear the rhythms of her heart. What did she want?
"What was the stunt you played at the wedding? Who was that lady and why did you get to marry her over Cindy." His mother shouted and Lilian could sense the anger in her voice.
"Relax mother,..." Floyd was trying to calm her down.
"Don't you tell me to relax, who is she?"
Floyd stood there in silence as he saw it as a wrong move to banter words with his mother.
"I want you to divorce her immediately, and I don't care if you just got married to her." His mother ordered.
"What!"
"You heard me right Floyd." She said angrily as she looked deeply into his eyes.
"I would do no such thing, mother. I am married to Lilian and you have to respect that." Floyd replied in an outburst.
"Floyd!" His mother stood in shock.
"Mother, I will see you soon. I need to get ready for my honeymoon." Floyd said as he opened the door and gestured to his mother to leave.
She was shocked at his attitude to her, this was the first time he would be doing such to her but she obviously didn't want to get herself embarrassed and she left.
Floyd sat back on the couch and gave a deep breath as he went back to the room to see Lilian.
Lilian pretended not to have heard the hot argument between Floyd and his mother. She waited for him to talk which he eventually did.
"Hope you rested well?" Floyd asked in concern.
That wasn't what she wanted to hear but she answered with a soft voice "Yes I did, except that it wasn't for so long."
"Why was that?" He stared at her in surprise.
"I know your mom was around and I overheard you both talking. I know I shouldn't have but her voice drew my attention."
"She would be fine, she is just concerned. Every mother would be in the state she is at the moment."
"Floyd" Lilian called his name as her eyes widened.
"Why did you choose to marry me over Cindy?"
He became quiet as though he never heard her question. She drew closer to Floyd as she waited for an answer in desperation.
Floyd looked at her and hesitated, then he gave her a shocking response that she never saw coming "Well, we are married. Soon you will find out."
Lilian could feel her heart drop to her stomach. What could Floyd possibly mean by that? What has she gotten herself into?
