Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: The Web deceit

As Aria continued to watch Eluned, she began to notice a pattern. Eluned seemed to be everywhere, always lurking in the shadows, always watching. Aria's suspicions grew, and she knew she had to confront Eluned once and for all.

"Lyrien, I need to talk to you," Aria said, pulling him aside. "I think Eluned is working against us. I've seen her talking to some of the villagers, and I think she's trying to gather information about us."

Lyrien's eyes narrowed. "I've seen her talking to some of the villagers too," he said. "But I didn't think much of it. What makes you think she's working against us?"

Aria hesitated, unsure of how to explain her intuition. "I just have a feeling," she said. "And I think we should investigate further."

Lyrien nodded. "I agree. Let's see if we can gather any more information about Eluned's activities."

Together, they began to ask questions, trying to gather more information about Eluned's past and her motivations. But every time they thought they were getting close to the truth, Eluned seemed to slip away, leaving them with more questions than answers.

As the sun began to set, Aria and Lyrien decided to pay a visit to the village elder, a wise and kind woman named Thorne. Thorne had lived in the village all her life, and Aria hoped that she might be able to shed some light on Eluned's mysterious past.

As they sat down in Thorne's cozy cottage, Aria asked her directly, "Do you know anything about Eluned's past? We've been noticing some strange behavior from her, and we're starting to get suspicious."

Thorne's expression turned serious, and she leaned forward in her chair. "I do know something about Eluned's past," she said. "But I'm not sure I should be sharing it with you. It's a delicate matter, and I don't want to cause any trouble."

Aria's curiosity was piqued. "Please, Thorne," she said. "We need to know the truth. What is Eluned hiding?"

Thorne hesitated, then took a deep breath. "Eluned is not who she seems to be," she said. "She's been using a false name, and she's been hiding her true identity. But I think I know why she's been acting so strangely. I think she's working for someone, someone who wants to see you fail."

Aria's eyes widened in shock. "Who?" she demanded. "Who is Eluned working for?"

Thorne's expression turned grim. "I'm not sure," she said. "But I think it's someone close to the king. Someone who will stop at nothing to see you defeated."
