And in the blink of an eye another year passed in this world, I am now four years old.
And as I promised my father, I learned to read and write before I turned four, in fact I learned all this in just three months leaving my father in complete shock.
Thanks to this I was granted a magic teacher!! And... a fencing teacher...
My Magic teacher is already a woman in her sixties, but they say she is a saint-level water mage and her name is Eva.
My Fencing teacher is the dwarf named Wii Taa, but he would start teaching me fencing after my birthday since "my body is still weak" although that was true, after all I barely I am four years old.
I don't know much about the sword but they say Wii Taa is a North King, which only made me more confused.
But on the other hand my lessons with Eva started a year ago, this was because she was a very busy magician and I could only come much later.
According to her, there are several types of magic ranks: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Saint, King, Emperor and God.
She says that each higher level spell consumes a greater amount of mana, and a mage's mana amount is chosen at birth, so I had a lot of insecurities about mine.
According to Eva, she is a water saint and is at an advanced level in the other schools of magic except for Healing and Detoxification, in which she is intermediate in both.
Also something curious is the amount of information that I have discovered about this world, It is just a footnote in world history.
It seems that we are now in the year K394, and the reason why a calendar of this style is used is because of the Armored Dragon King Peragius Dola, who along with six other warriors were responsible for stopping the fearsome Demon God Laplace almost 500 years ago.
I haven't done much research on it, But apparently this guy wanted to eradicate humanity or something, and apparently it's real and not a fairy tale, pretty scary, right?.
But well! Today is the day I will finally learn magic! I needed to learn to read to finally be able to memorize and recite an enchantment, as these are extremely necessary when doing magic.
And I also need to know what my mana capacity is to know up to what rank I can advance.
"Very well young master, this is a book courtesy of your father's personal library" Eva said placing a book the thickness of a dictionary on the table.
"A Basic Guide of Magic" That's what the title said.
"Very well, as I had already told you, there are several types of magic ranges, we will start mainly with water magic obviously at the beginner level" Eva said while looking through the book.
I just nodded excitedly as I listened to her.
"Well, point towards the garden young master and repeat after me" she muttered as she took a small staff from her backpack and pointed it towards the garden.
"May the great protection of water be in the place you seek, I summon here and now a refreshing stream, ball of water!" Ana shouted and immediately a ball of water the size of a soccer ball appeared in her hand and shot out into the garden crashing directly into a tree.
"Woooow..." I could only mutter in total surprise at this and that was only a beginner level spell...
"Very well young master, try it yourself reciting the spell the same way I did it" Eva said while staring at me.
I nodded and pointed my hand to the same place where Eva had done it...
hmmm?...what did she say?.
"May the great protection of water be in the place you seek, I summon here and now a refreshing stream, ball of water!" I shouted.
Immediately a ball of water of the same size formed in my hand and...fell to the ground.
"Huh?..."
The water ball fell to the ground as soon as it formed and a huge tiredness invaded my body and I fainted...
...
"Hmm?..." I opened my eyes, I felt like I had just woken up from a long dream, I had no idea what had happened, I only remember having made that water ball and having fallen asleep, when I fully regained consciousness I looked around, I was in my room and my mother was next to me with a worried look.
"Mom?...What happened?" I murmured.
"Oh dear!" she said and hugged me "I was so worried when Miss Eva brought you here carrying you...you ran out of mana dear"
"Run out of mana?!...But I barely did a spell!" I replied.
My mother put on an apologetic face as she looked at me, I could only look at my hands and a look of disappointment flooded my face and then I let out a long sigh as I lay back down on the bed.
What a disappointing shit...
The next day I didn't feel like doing anything, I had completely lost my desire to learn magic, I could barely do a spell and I ran out of mana... apparently that's my limit.
Shit!!!, it wasn't supposed to be like this!!, I tried so hard with the sole purpose of learning magic and they come up with this shit?!!!.
The next day I didn't go to my classes, nor the day after that, it went like this for a week, I had stayed in bed all these days, apparently this incident had depressed me terribly.
"Honey... aren't you going to your classes today either?..." my mother asked me sadly.
I just let out a groan in annoyance as I covered myself with the blankets and tried to fall asleep, that's how it had been all these days.
My mother just let out a sigh as she hugged me and that's how I fell asleep.
I woke up who knows how many hours later and my mother wasn't in the room, this was strange, but this happened once every ten days, apparently it was when she and my father went to their private room to... give me a little brother...
It's not that this bothered me, in fact, it allowed me more time to get lost in my thoughts.
I twisted in bed for a few minutes until I couldn't take it anymore, and in one jump I went to the bathroom next to the room, opened the door and got in there with a frustrated expression.
I extended my hand towards the sink on the floor and said:
"May the great protection of water be in the place you seek, I summon here and now a refreshing stream, ball of water!" I shouted, and again a ball of water formed in my hand and fell into the sink splashing everything around me.
"...what's wrong, am I going to faint?" I muttered "Wait a minute! Is this possible?!..."
I repeated the spell again and the process repeated itself splashing water around me, thank goodness I had already been cleaned.
But again... I fainted on the spot.
...
"Young Master Paul?!, Young Master Paul?!!" The voice of one of the maids brought me back to my senses and I opened my eyes suddenly, in front of me was a yellow-haired maid with a face of terrible concern, but when I reacted she let out a big sigh of relief.
"What time is it?..." I muttered.
"Huh?!, it's almost midnight, what are you doing sleeping in the bathroom young master?!" The maid said as she helped me up from the floor.
"I'm sorry, I woke up and went to the bathroom, but it seems sleep overcame me" I lied.
The maid just let out a sigh of annoyance and made me leave the bathroom, but my mind still went back to that moment.
My mana had run out again, but now after doing two spells and not one...
If this is true...then what the book said was a lie!!
I jumped for joy at this thought as I returned to my room where my mother was waiting for me angrily.
Apparently my hypothesis was right, the next day I repeated the process and was able to make three water balls before fainting, the next day it was four and the next day five and so on until I was able to make at least ten water balls before running out of mana, Ana of course was totally surprised by this, so much so that she even told my father about this event.
"It's the least I can expect from my son!!" he said proudly.
This time I couldn't argue anything since the simple fact of doing this process contradicted what was established in that magic book, but my father declared that this would be a secret that would not leave this mansion.
"Very well young master Paul, I see that you are back to resume your classes" Ana said with a smile.
"Yes, I'm sorry for my absence but I was quite depressed believing that my mana reserve was so depressing" I murmured.
"Heh, I believe it, very well, today we will practice a beginner level earth spell" she said and again she took out her small staff, which actually looked like a wooden wand and at the end had a red stone.
"Answer my call, god of darkness and destroy my enemy, stone cannon!" Eva screamed and from her wand a stone the size of a bullet came out shooting towards a tree making a huge hole in it.
wow...that shit is literally a bullet.
"Very well young master, now you do it" she said and I nodded as I pointed to another tree.
"Answer my call, god of darkness and destroy my enemy, stone cannon!" I shouted in the same way, immediately a cone-shaped stone formed in my hand and shot towards another tree at high speed.
The bullet impact knocked down the upper half of the tree at high speed while I looked at the scene stunned.
"Very well young master!" Eva said and from her belongings she took out a wand just like the one she had, but this one looked newer.
"Since you are already a beginner level wizard it is tradition that your master gives you a wand to commemorate it, but since you fainted the first time I could only give it to you until now" she explained as she gave me the wand.
I took it in my hands while admiring it, it was pretty, the red stone was pretty and it was protected by a small metal plate in the shape of a cage.
"Thank you very much Master Eva!" I said bowing.
"You don't need to bow to me young master" she said with a smile.
...
We spent the next half hour doing more beginner level spells now involving fire and wind.
The wind magic was simple and was just a small shockwave, but the fire magic became a bit more dangerous as the fireball shot towards a tree burning it instantly.
That day I returned home with a huge smile on my face, as I had become a beginner level mage in the four main schools of magic, but I still couldn't advance to the intermediate rank yet due to my low amount of mana.
Let's put it into perspective based on what my teacher Eva said:
To make a water cannon which is an intermediate rank water spell, you need the equivalent of twenty beginner level water balls in terms of mana, the same applies to the other schools of magic, so my spell advancement would be dedicated to beginner rank healing and detoxification magic for the moment, according to my current mana increase, it would take me a total of ten days to be able to make an intermediate level spell before I even faint from the mana drain, but that's part of the progress!
After all, without sacrifice there is no victory!!!
