I stood at the edge of the gala, nursing a glass of champagne as I watched Kieran Asher hold court. He was a spoiled brat, used to getting his way, and it showed in every arrogant smile and careless gesture.
As I monitored him, I saw the whole incident unfold. The guy touching Sophia, Kieran's explosive reaction, the security guards dragging him away... I shook my head, disgusted.
I'd had enough of the Asher family's antics. I turned and made my way out of the gala, my heels clicking on the marble floor.
Once I was back in my office, I slammed the door shut behind me and stalked over to my file cabinet. I yanked it open and pulled out a thick folder marked "Asher Family".
As I flipped through the pages, memories came flooding back. The Ashers' long history of corruption and deceit, their ruthless tactics and blatant disregard for the law... it all made my blood boil.
But it was more than that. It was personal.
I thought back to the night my parents were killed. I was just a teenager then, and the memory of that night was still etched vividly in my mind. The sound of shattering glass, the scent of smoke and blood... it was a night that changed my life forever.
The Asher family was responsible for their deaths. They had ordered the hit, and their goons had carried it out.
I had vowed then to take them down, to expose their secrets and bring them to justice. And now, with Kieran's latest stunt, I had the perfect opportunity.
I slammed the folder shut, my eyes blazing with determination. "One more crime from the Asher family," I whispered to myself, "and you're gone."
I smirked, feeling a sense of satisfaction wash over me as an idea popped into my head. The Ashers had no idea what was coming for them.
I walked over to my desk and pulled out a small framed photo. It was a picture of my parents, smiling and happy. I ran my fingers over their faces, feeling a pang of sadness and loss.
But I knew I had to keep moving forward. I had to keep pushing until the Ashers paid for what they had done.
I put the photo back on my desk and turned to leave.
