Chapter 5 - Chapter 4

 Iris

I couldn't believe Kieran's audacity. Who did he think he was, asking me out on a coffee date and then telling me he'd pick me up at 7 pm the next day? It was like he assumed I'd just fall at his feet.

But despite my annoyance, I couldn't shake off the feeling that Kieran was getting under my skin. There was something about him that drew me in, something that made me want to know more about him.

I pushed the thoughts aside and focused on my investigation. I spent the rest of the day digging through files and interviewing coworkers, trying to get to the bottom of the Asher family's shady dealings.

As the day drew to a close, I packed up my things and headed home, my mind still racing with thoughts of Kieran and the Asher family.

But as I got to my apartment, I was greeted by a surprise: a bouquet of flowers on my doorstep, with a note attached that read: "Looking forward to tomorrow."

My heart skipped a beat as I realized who must have sent them.

Kieran!

How did he even find out where I lived?

I felt a shiver run down my spine as I stared at the flowers, unsure of what to do next.

Should I cancel the coffee date and avoid Kieran altogether?

Or should I play along and see where things went?

I hesitated for a moment, weighing my options.

But then I remembered why I was here in the first place: to take down the Asher family.

And if that meant playing Kieran's game, then so be it.

I smiled to myself, a plan forming in my mind.

Game on, Kieran.

Kieran

I woke up feeling like a kid on Christmas morning. Today was the day I'd been waiting for, my coffee date with Grace. I couldn't believe she'd actually agreed to meet me. I'd been thinking about her nonstop since our conversation in the office.

As I got dressed and ready for the day, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. What would we talk about? Would she open up to me? Would I be able to charm her into going out with me again?

I arrived at the coffee shop early, eager to get a good table by the window. As I waited for Grace to arrive, I checked my phone for what felt like the hundredth time, making sure I hadn't missed any messages from her.

Finally, she walked in, looking stunning in a yellow sundress. Her hair was pulled back in a ponytail, and her smile lit up the entire room. I felt my heart skip a beat as I stood up to greet her.

"Hey," I said, trying to sound casual. "You look amazing."

She smiled politely and took a seat across from me. "Thank you sir," she said. "You look nice too."

"Oh please, you can quit with the "sir", I said smiling from ear to ear.

"No sir, That would be rude of me to do so" She said

"Okay, let's do it like this. When we're at work, we're Sir and Miss but while outside we're just Kieran and Grace. That's good" I said.

"No si.." she said before interrupting her.

"I order you, Miss Grace" I said cutting her off guard

"Yes sir.....I mean Yes, Kieran" She finally let in.

"Good, shall we" I said pointing at the menu pamphlets and she nodded indicating a yes.

We ordered our coffee and chatted for a bit, but I couldn't help but notice that she seemed a bit... distant. Her responses were brief and to the point, and she didn't seem to be opening up to me at all.

I tried to draw her out, asking her questions about her interests and hobbies, but she just shrugged and said she didn't really have any.

I was taken aback by her formality. Where was the spark? The chemistry? I had been so sure that I could win her over with my charm and good looks.

But as the date went on, I started to feel like I was getting nowhere. She wasn't responding to my flirting, and she seemed completely uninterested in getting to know me better.

I couldn't help but wonder if my playboy plans were failing me. Was I losing my touch?

But I refused to give up. As we finished up our coffee, I asked her if she'd like to grab dinner with me the following night.

To my surprise, she agreed.

"Great," I said, smiling at her. "I'll pick you up at 7 pm."

She nodded, her expression still formal, but I could have sworn I saw a flicker of interest in her eyes.

I was determined to fan that spark into a flame.
