Chapter 9: Destiny

"D-level, is it really him, or is the ancestor wrong?"

Nangong Batian's eyes flickered with conflicting emotions. Nangong Ya was his daughter, and it was impossible for him to remain calm when it came to her matters.

The Nangong family had once been a first-class family in Magic City, but 18 years ago, they had relocated to Qingshan City.

At that moment, Nangong Batian was lost in thought, recalling a conversation from the past.

"Batian, my time is running out. I have used up all my strength to foresee a future possibility. Among all the countless possibilities I have seen, the turning point for the fate of our Nangong family lies in your daughter.

The extraterrestrial beasts come from incredibly powerful starfields. Our Blue Star is just one of the many planets they have invaded. In the past 500 years, Blue Star has developed quickly, and many powerful individuals have emerged, but we are still weak, and there are traitors among our own ranks. The current powerful individuals of Blue Star are unable to change the situation and break the blockade of the extraterrestrial beasts. We are like toys held by these alien creatures.

The alien beasts belong to a tribe among the races of the heavens, the Original Beast Tribe, which, although not the strongest, is still formidable. Our Blue Star is far too weak. In 30 years, mankind will face a catastrophe, and the only variable in this outcome lies in Qingshan City.

The future of the Nangong family rests there as well. Batian, take the family to Qingshan City. Remember, do not interfere with your daughter's choices and do everything you can to protect her."

The voice of the ancestor seemed to still echo in Nangong Batian's ears, but now, doubts clouded his mind. Was Yang Xie really the variable the ancestor had spoken of? Could someone with D-level talent really save the Nangong family and even the entire Blue Star?

When Nangong Ya had been found in the slums of Qingshan City at the age of 9, Nangong Batian had been unsettled. His daughter, Nangong Ya, had always been under the protection of bodyguards. But one day, despite the vigilant watch of a skilled bodyguard, she disappeared without a trace. It wasn't until half a month later that she reappeared, in the slums, alongside a boy named Yang Xie.

From that moment on, Yang Xie had captured Nangong Batian's attention. He had observed Yang Xie's life and growth, knowing everything about him, including his awakening yesterday. He knew that Nangong Ya had taken an awakening pill, but that wasn't the surprising part. What was truly perplexing was Yang Xie—someone with only D-level talent.

For someone like Nangong Batian, whose own talent was S-level, D-level talent seemed insignificant. It was strange that Yang Xie would be the one to change the future of Blue Star, yet his strength appeared too weak.

Despite his doubts, Nangong Batian couldn't ignore the certainty in the ancestor's eyes. Could the information that had cost the ancestor his life really be a mistake?

"Whatever happens, happens," Nangong Batian thought, deciding that even if Yang Xie wasn't the key to saving Blue Star, at least his daughter would find happiness. The future of Blue Star should not rest solely on the shoulders of two children. They were still alive, and there was still time.

---

Meanwhile, Yang Xie and Nangong Ya were happily driving in a Ferrari toward Yang Xie's home. Though the 20-kilometer journey wasn't particularly long, the road conditions were poor. As they passed high-rise buildings and neared the outskirts, the environment grew quieter and more rural.

The road became narrower, flanked by dense trees. Yang Xie felt uneasy as the usual sounds of birds were replaced by silence.

"Xiao Ya, stop. Something's wrong," Yang Xie said with a serious expression.

Nangong Ya, sensing his anxiety, slowed the car and came to a stop. Before them, a tree had fallen, blocking the road.

The air was heavy with tension. The quiet was unnerving.

"Do you think it's a human or a strange beast?" Nangong Ya asked, glancing at Yang Xie.

"I'm not sure, but something's coming. We should prepare."

Just as Yang Xie finished speaking, five figures appeared in front of them. They were not human, but instead, five massive wolves—alien beast wolves. Each stood over a meter tall and stretched over two meters long. They bared their sharp teeth and began to move toward the car.

---

At that moment, in a dark corner, a voice rang out.

"Chief, the young lady and Yang Xie have encountered five strange beasts. Four of them are first-stage beasts, and one is a second-stage. Should I intervene?"

Nangong Batian remained silent for a moment before responding.

"Let them handle it. If their lives are truly at risk, you may intervene. They need to learn to grow on their own."

"Understood, patriarch."

---

Back at the scene, Nangong Ya tried to reverse the car quickly. "There are five strange beasts. According to the illustrated guide, four are first-stage and one is second-stage. We need to leave—there's no way we can take them on."

But Yang Xie, worried about his grandmother still at home, could not afford to run away. He had to make sure these beasts were dealt with, no matter the cost.

Yang Xie knew this would be his first real test against an alien beast, but his shadow soldiers were now stronger than ever, and he had a plan. Despite his lack of direct combat experience, he summoned his shadow soldiers to buy them some time.

"I'm getting out of the car to buy us some time. I've already notified the principal using the warrior's personal terminal."

"Yang Xie, this isn't the time for recklessness," Nangong Ya urged.

"I have a plan. I'm wearing the armor you gave me yesterday. Don't worry."

Without waiting for her response, Yang Xie quickly got out of the car, closing the door behind him. He drew his ice sword and steeled himself for the fight.

---

Nangong Ya's concern deepened as she watched Yang Xie take action. "You really don't listen. You're rushing into danger."

Despite her worries, she also readied herself. She drew her whip, preparing for the worst.

The five alien wolves, with terrifying speed, charged toward them. Yang Xie, holding nothing back, called upon his shadow soldiers.

"Shadow soldiers, come forth and deal with these alien wolves!"

Hundreds of shadow soldiers appeared from the darkness, each holding a weapon and ready for battle.

The shadow soldiers led by Wu Dao immediately engaged, wielding their bloody swords with ruthless precision. Within moments, four of the alien wolves were dead, their bodies littered on the ground. The fifth, a slightly stronger wolf, was quickly beheaded.

Both Yang Xie and Nangong Ya stood stunned.

"I can't believe it. That was... so fast." Nangong Ya was left speechless, as was the bystander An Yi.

Meanwhile, Nangong Batian was silent as he processed the situation. His doubts had only deepened.

"An Yi, are you sure Yang Xie awakened yesterday and is still a D-level talent? He killed five alien wolves in the blink of an eye," Nangong Batian asked, still trying to grasp what had just occurred.

"I... I saw Yang Xie awaken yesterday. There's no way he could have awakened earlier," An Yi responded, shocked.

Nangong Batian was silent for a long time, pondering what had just happened. Could this truly be fate?
