Chapter 5 - Torn Soul, Awakened Sword

Xiao Lin opened his eyes. The sky was gray, light rain dripping down his face. He sat on a large rock, Jiuying clutched in his hand, dried blood smearing the blade. But he didn't remember anything—*what his name was*, *why there was a wound on his back*, or *why his heart felt as empty as an empty cave*.

**Master Mao** sat beside him, chewing on roasted rabbit meat. "Are you awake, *Xue*?" he called with his new name. "Come on, we have prey."

"Prey… who?" Xiao Lin's voice was hoarse, no longer having a fully human intonation.

Master Mao smiled slyly. "Your enemies. Those who want to take your sword." He threw a black robe over Xiao Lin. On the back of the robe, was a symbol of a **dragon bound in chains**—the symbol of the Tianmo Sect.

"Why should I kill?" Xiao Lin asked, his gaze blank.

"Because that's the only way you can survive," Master Mao replied, pointing to the valley below. There, a group of warriors in white were setting up camp. Their flags read: *Qingyun Sacred Sect*.

"They're coming to kill you. Kill them first."

---

**Nameless Massacre**

That night, Xiao Lin infiltrated the camp like a shadow. Jiuying trembled wildly, thirsting for blood. The first warrior to die didn't even have time to scream—his head was severed from his body in a single slash.

"Attackers! Beware!" the leader of the Qingyun Sect shouted.

But it was too late. Xiao Lin moved like the wind, with each slash of Jiuying sending out nine dragon shadows that pounced. Blood soaked the ground, screams filled the air. A young disciple, perhaps only 15 years old, fell to the ground, crying.

"Please… I'm not fighting back…"

Xiao Lin raised his sword. Suddenly, a **flash of memory** flashed—a woman's face with ocean-blue eyes, stabbing a dagger into his back.

*"Sorry."*

Jiuying fell from his hand. At that moment, Master Mao appeared from the darkness, stabbing the young disciple in the heart. "Don't be weak, Xue! They are all enemies!"

**Meeting with the Traitor**

The next day, news of the massacre of the Qingyun Sect spread. In the **Buried Blood Cave**, the temporary headquarters of the Tianmo Sect, **Luo Yan**—now titled *Great Priest Yasha*—looked at the corpses carried by his followers.

"The energy in this wound... Jiuying," he whispered. But there was something strange. The blood in the bodies of the victims did not freeze, instead it evaporated into a red mist.

"Xiao Lin... what have they done to you?"

Suddenly, the tent parted. Xiao Lin stood at the door, Jiuying glowing red, eyes devoid of emotion.

"You..." Luo Yan whispered, his ice dagger trembling.

"He is no longer Xiao Lin," Master Mao said from behind. "This is *Xue*, my strongest weapon. And today, you will die by it."

Xiao Lin attacked. Luo Yan dodged, her ice forming a shield. But every blow from Jiuying shattered his defenses.

"Wake up! You are not a slave!" Luo Yan shouted, trying to stab a needle into the pressure point on Xiao Lin's neck.

But Xiao Lin caught her hand. At close range, Luo Yan saw the **red dragon tattoo** on his left eyeball—a sign of soul erosion.

"Xiao Lin, I…" Luo Yan's voice choked.

Jiuying pierced Luo Yan's abdomen. Its blue blood—the blood of a demon descendant—flowed into the blade, triggering an unexpected reaction.

*Krrraaak!*

Jiuying cracked, and from within it, a **second blade** emerged—a blue crystal blade shaped like a dragon's fang. **Yinglong**, Jiuying's twin brother who had been buried for thousands of years!

---

Luo Yan smiled bitterly, blue blood continuing to flow. "Do you think… you're the only one with destiny?" he said as he held Yinglong. The sword merged with him, his blue eyes turning into living dragons.

Shifu Mao screamed in terror. "Yinglong! That's the sword for the *traitor Su Chen*!"

In the distance, the Tianmo Seal on Xuanji Mountain began to crack. A giant voice rumbled:

***"Release me… and you will have everything, Xiao Lin…"***

Xiao Lin fell, the cracks in his soul deepening. In his head, two voices rumbled:

*"Kill them all!"*

*"Remember the forest… remember your dream…"*
