Megatron was many things throughout time. A Conqueror, a Tyrant, a War Lord. But a Monster was among those titles. Megatron had brought his home world of Cybertron to absolute devastation and caused countless lives to end. He even poisoned his home world with Dark Energon. But through it all he never questioned it. He never thought twice about his actions and kept going. He was so consumed by his lust for power that it corrupted his mind to the point of no return.
At least, he thought so. All it took to shatter his mind was being possessed by Unicron and tormented by the dark god. After Optimus Prime had basically saved him from Unicron's grasp, he didn't hesitate to abandon the Decepticons and end the War. He then went into self-imposed exile. It's been Nine months since then. All Megatron has been doing is traveling across the Galaxy in search of Energon and a place to hunker down in. He's currently on a tropical planet and in a cave.
As he walked further into the cave, he finds a ton of Energon crystals lining the walls of the cave. A smile comes to his face.
"Finally." Megatron said, relieved to finally have found Energon.
Megatron steps closer and gauges the amount of Energon he found.
"This should last me for a year at most." Megatron said to himself.
He gently touches one of the crystals until a shimmer of light catches his attention. He looked towards it and saw an odd colored Energon crystal. It was a rainbow color. With curiosity coursing through his body, he walked over cautiously. Once he reached the crystal he knelt down and got a better look at the crystal. He inspected the crystal.
He'd never seen it before. Sure, there were all kinds of Energon colors, but not a rainbow colored one. He reaches forward to touch it and the second his finger touched it; the crystal began to glow brightly causing Megatron to back up and shield his eyes. The glow consumed the cave and Megatron. When the glow dissipated, Megatron was gone. As was the rainbow colored Energon crystal.
Megatron opened his eyes, and he was floating in a void filled with bright blue orbs. He looked around and then at himself and realized he was back to his original form. The same form he was in for the majority of the War on Cybertron, Earth and before he was possessed by Unicron. He then looked around once more before he saw a larger blue orb behind him. His eyes widened in shock and awe before he heard a voice.
"Megatron." A deep voice said. "Your actions against Cybertron were heinous and evil."
Megatron had no idea who this voice was, and he wanted to know.
"Who are you?" Megatron asked.
"I am Primus." The voice, now known as Primus, said.
Megatron's eyes widened once more. Primus!? As in the God of his people? How and why was he talking to him now?
"I understand you have a great many questions, but i assure you. They will be answered in due time." Primus said.
"Why am I here?" Megatron asked.
"You are here because of your decision to end the War on Cybertron following your possession from Unicron." Primus explained. "While I will not ignore your previous actions, you've proven to me that you are not too far gone."
"How so?"
"Your refusal to let Cybertron burn by Unicron's hand and your decision to end the War while abandoning the Decepticons." Primus said. "While your actions are most shrouded in darkness, I detect a genuine desire for change within you."
It was true. Megatron did secretly wish he could take back all his transgressions against Cybertron. He remembered what he once fought for. Freedom, Justice, Equality. That's what he wanted to do by tearing down the system. He wanted to abolish the corrupt society on Cybertron, not destroy Cybertron itself. His desire for power blinded him from his original goals.
"Which is why I'm willing to give you one last chance at redemption." Primus said.
This surprised Megatron. After all he's done, Primus was just going to let him redeem himself? He couldn't believe it.
"I know you do not believe it, I know you must think your far from redemption. But no being is far from redemption until they are truly lost." Primus said. "But a word of warning, this second chance at life will be challenging. It will truly test you and your resolve. But whether you remain Evil or truly turn good is up to you as I will not interfere."
From what he can understand, this is truly a Second chance. But he's curious if it's just wiping the slate clean and trying again. He wonders if he'll be sent back to Cybertron. But hearing the warnings Primus gave, Megatron felt like he was capable of taking a simple challenge. After all he's fought a war for countless years, how hard could this be?
"But the question remains. Are you willing to accept my offer?" Primus asked.
Megatron thought about it. If this was truly a second chance, he could make sure he doesn't make the same mistakes and doesn't lose himself again. After a moment of contemplation, he looked at the large blue orb which he assumed was Primus.
"Yes." Megatron answered.
"Very well." Primus said, his tone indicating he was glad Megatron took the offer.
While Megatron couldn't see, he could sense a smile coming to Primus based on his tone.
"Before I send you away, the world you will find yourself on has a name. Remnant." Primus said.
Remnant? What kind of name was that? Though Megatron isn't that surprised. He's heard of some pretty dumb planet names.
"Good luck, Megatron." Primus said.
A blue portal opened up behind Megatron and pulled him through. Once the Decepticon leader went through, the portal closed.
