Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Mysterious Prisoner

Duncan and Emel stood outside the city's prison, a towering stone structure that loomed over the surrounding buildings.

"I want to talk to Rectale," Duncan said, his voice firm and commanding.

The prison guard nodded, unlocking the heavy iron door. "Follow me," he said.

Duncan and Emel followed the guard through the winding corridors of the prison, finally arriving at a small, dimly lit cell.

Rectale sat on a narrow cot, his eyes fixed on Duncan with a malevolent glare.

"So, you're the one who defeated me," Rectale spat, his voice dripping with malice.

Duncan nodded, his eyes narrowing. "I am," he said. "And now, you're going to tell me what I want to know."

Rectale sneered, but Duncan could see the faintest glimmer of fear in his eyes.

"What do you want to know?" Rectale asked, his voice grudging.

Duncan smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I want to know who you're working for," he said.

Rectale's eyes widened in surprise, and for a moment, Duncan thought he saw a flash of fear.

But then, Rectale's face smoothed out, and he smiled. "I'm not working for anyone," he said.

Duncan's eyes narrowed. "Don't lie to me," he growled.

Rectale shrugged. "Believe what you want," he said.

Duncan's face darkened with anger, but Emel laid a hand on his arm.

"Wait, Jon Ander," she said. "Let's not be too hasty."

Duncan turned to her, his eyes questioning.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

Emel smiled. "I think Rectale is telling the truth," she said.

Duncan's eyes widened in surprise. "What?" he exclaimed.

Emel nodded. "I think Rectale is working alone," she said.

Duncan's face fell, and he turned back to Rectale.

"Is that true?" he asked.

Rectale nodded, a sly smile spreading across his face.

"Yes, it's true," he said. "I am the master of my own destiny."

Duncan's eyes narrowed, and he turned to Emel.

"What do we do now?" he asked.

Emel shrugged. "I don't know," she said. "But I think we need to be careful."

Duncan nodded, his eyes never leaving Rectale's face.

"We'll be watching you," he said.

Rectale smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement.

"I'm shaking in my boots," he said.
