Chapter 87 - The Battle Begins

Zi Ning sat in the backseat of Lu Yichen's car, staring out the window as they drove back to his penthouse. The city lights blurred past, but her mind was elsewhere. Tonight had been a warning. Wang Yin wasn't just trying to destroy her reputation—she wanted her gone.

Lu Yichen, sitting beside her, glanced at her. "You're too quiet. What are you thinking?"

Zi Ning sighed. "She's desperate. That means she's running out of options. But if she's willing to attack me directly, she might try something even worse."

Lu Yichen nodded. "That's why we have to move fast. I've already ordered an investigation into everyone connected to her. We'll find her weak spot."

Zi Ning turned to him. "We don't have to look far. Her weak spot is Guo Bao."

Lu Yichen raised an eyebrow. "You think so?"

Zi Ning smirked. "She's doing all this for him. Even after he abandoned her, she's still trying to prove herself. If we shake Guo Bao, she'll fall apart."

Lu Yichen thought for a moment. "Then we use him against her."

The next morning, the scandal against Zi Ning continued to spread.

[Is Zi Ning's Career Over? Public Demands Investigation!]

Wang Yin had pulled in all her connections. News stations, online bloggers, and even influencers were spreading the so-called "proof."

Outside the studio where Zi Ning was filming, reporters swarmed like vultures. The moment she stepped out, cameras flashed, and microphones were shoved in her face.

"Miss Zi Ning, do you have anything to say about the accusations?"

"Are the contracts real?"

"Will you be resigning from the industry?"

Zi Ning didn't stop. She walked straight to her car, ignoring the chaos around her. But just as she reached the door, someone shouted, "Wang Yin is holding a press conference in an hour! She says she has final proof against you!"

Zi Ning paused. A press conference? So, Wang Yin was making her final move.

Xu Jia, who was beside her, whispered, "She's going all in. She must think she has you cornered."

Zi Ning smiled coldly. "Then let's see what she has to say."

An hour later, Wang Yin appeared in front of the cameras, dressed in a simple but elegant outfit, looking like the perfect victim.

Tears shimmered in her eyes as she spoke. "I never wanted to do this, but I can't stay silent anymore. I trusted Zi Ning. I thought we were friends. But I have evidence that she has been involved in illegal dealings for years."

The reporters gasped. Some even clapped.

She continued, "I have bank records, emails, and signed documents. I know this will break many hearts, but the truth must come out."

She pulled out a folder, holding it up dramatically. "This is the final proof."

The cameras zoomed in. Social media exploded.

But just as Wang Yin was about to open the folder, a voice echoed from the back of the room.

"That's funny. Because I also have evidence."

The entire room turned.

Zi Ning stood at the entrance, wearing a sharp black dress, confidence radiating from her like a queen walking into battle.

She stepped forward, a calm smile on her lips. "Wang Yin, you've worked hard. You faked evidence, bribed people, and even tried to have me attacked. But unfortunately for you, I've been a step ahead."

Wang Yin's face paled. "You—"

Zi Ning held up a USB drive. "This contains proof that every document you created was fake. It also contains recordings of your phone calls, planning this entire scheme."

Gasps filled the room.

A reporter hesitated before asking, "Miss Zi Ning, are you saying Wang Yin set you up?"

Zi Ning tilted her head. "Isn't it obvious? She's been obsessed with ruining me ever since Guo Bao abandoned her. It's quite sad, really."

Wang Yin's hands clenched into fists. "You're lying!"

Zi Ning smiled. "Then let's find out." She turned to the reporters. "I invite all of you to check the evidence yourselves. If I'm lying, I'll retire from the industry."

The reporters' eyes lit up. A scandalous revelation and a potential downfall—this was bigger than anything they had expected.

One of them quickly plugged the USB into a laptop. A video began to play.

[Wang Yin's voice: "Make sure the contracts look real. Pay those witnesses well. I don't care how much it costs."]

[Another voice: "What if she proves they're fake?"]

[Wang Yin: "She won't get the chance. By the time she figures it out, her career will already be over."]

Silence filled the room.

The reporters turned to Wang Yin, their cameras now pointed at her.

"Miss Wang, do you have anything to say about this?"

"Is this your voice in the recording?"

Wang Yin's face twisted in horror. "I—I was framed! This is fake! She's the one lying!"

But her voice trembled.

Zi Ning smiled. "Funny. That's exactly what you wanted me to say."

Wang Yin looked around desperately. "No! This is—this is all a trick!"

The reporters didn't buy it.

One of them whispered, "She's finished."

Another murmured, "No one will believe her now."

Wang Yin took a step back. "I—I need to go." She turned and ran, pushing through the crowd, her once-perfect image shattered.

Zi Ning watched her leave, then turned to the reporters. "I hope this settles the matter. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have work to do."

She walked out, head held high.

The internet exploded.

Zi Ning leaned back in her car, closing her eyes for a moment.

Xu Jia grinned. "That was beautiful. Absolutely beautiful."

Zi Ning smirked. "Wang Yin thought she could destroy me. She forgot—I don't lose."

Lu Yichen chuckled. "You played her perfectly."

Zi Ning exhaled. "She's not done yet. She's desperate now. That makes her dangerous."

Lu Yichen nodded. "Then we'll be ready."

Zi Ning opened her eyes, a fierce determination burning within them.
