The press conference room was in chaos. Reporters shouted over each other, their voices clashing like a thunderstorm.
"Miss Wang Yin, is this recording real?"
"Did you really murder Wang Xue?"
"Are you threatening Zi Ning's life?"
Wang Yin's hands trembled as she gripped the microphone. Her mind raced, searching for a way out.
"This—this recording is fake!" she finally shouted, her voice shrill. "Someone edited it to ruin me!"
But no one believed her.
Her manager, standing to the side, was frozen in shock. Even her most loyal reporters, the ones she had paid off before, looked uncertain.
The internet was even worse.
"She's finished. Completely finished."
"Wang Yin is a murderer! She should be in jail!"
"No wonder she wanted Zi Ning gone! She was scared the truth would come out!"
A security guard whispered something to the event organizer. A moment later, the livestream was cut off. The screen went black.
But it was too late. The video had already spread.
Zi Ning sat in Lu Yichen's office, watching the chaos unfold.
Jiang Yue was scrolling through her phone, reading the comments. "This is a massacre. Wang Yin's career is over."
Lu Yichen leaned back in his chair, calm as ever. "She won't go down quietly."
Zi Ning nodded. "She's desperate now. That makes her dangerous."
Her phone buzzed. A message from an unknown number.
"You think you've won? Watch your back."
Zi Ning's lips curled into a cold smile. Threats won't save you, Wang Yin.
She showed the message to Lu Yichen. He glanced at it and scoffed. "Pathetic."
Jiang Yue frowned. "Should we report it?"
Zi Ning shook her head. "No need. Let her waste her time. We're already ten steps ahead."
Meanwhile, in Wang Yin's luxury apartment, the atmosphere was suffocating.
She had locked herself in her bedroom, ignoring the frantic knocking from her manager.
The recording played over and over again in her mind.
"If she doesn't back off, we'll deal with her the same way we dealt with Wang Xue."
Her own words. Clear as day.
She grabbed a glass of water and threw it against the wall. The sharp sound of shattering glass did nothing to calm her.
Her phone rang. It was Guo Bao.
She hesitated before answering.
"What the hell is going on?" his angry voice exploded through the phone. "How could you be this careless?"
Wang Yin clenched her teeth. "I don't know who recorded me! It must have been one of those traitors in my team!"
Guo Bao exhaled sharply. "The Guo family won't protect you if this gets worse."
Wang Yin's heart dropped. "You're abandoning me?"
"We can't be connected to a murderer," he said coldly. "Fix this, or you're on your own."
The call ended.
Wang Yin stared at the phone, her hands shaking.
She was alone.
The next morning, the fallout was worse.
Major brands cut ties with Wang Yin. Her endorsement deals vanished one after another.
Her official fan club disbanded, and some former fans even started calling for her arrest.
The biggest blow came when the police announced that they were reopening the investigation into Wang Xue's death.
A statement from the authorities spread like wildfire:
"Due to new evidence, we will be conducting a thorough investigation into the death of Miss Wang Xue."
The world erupted.
"Finally! That snake is going to pay for what she did!"
"Justice for Wang Xue!"
"Zi Ning must be laughing right now."
At the same time, another major piece of news shocked everyone.
Wang Xue's father, who had been silent for years, finally spoke.
In a press conference, his face was pale, his voice trembling. "I always knew something was wrong with my daughter's death… but I had no power to fight back. Now, I won't stay silent anymore."
Tears filled his eyes as he bowed deeply. "Thank you to the person who exposed the truth. I just want justice for my child."
The people's anger surged. Wang Yin had no escape now.
In Lu Yichen's office, Zi Ning watched the press conference with a quiet expression.
Jiang Yue wiped a tear. "Wang Xue's father… he must have suffered so much."
Zi Ning nodded. "This is what real pain looks like. Not the fake tears Wang Yin shed at her press conference."
Lu Yichen glanced at her. "What's next?"
Zi Ning's eyes darkened. "She's losing control. She might try to run."
Zhou Wei entered the office at that moment, looking serious. "You were right. Wang Yin just booked a one-way flight out of the country."
Jiang Yue's eyes widened. "She's trying to escape?"
Zi Ning's lips curled. "Let's make sure she doesn't."
At the airport, Wang Yin wore dark sunglasses and a hat, her face hidden.
She walked quickly, ignoring the curious glances from people around her.
Her plan was simple. Leave the country, lay low, and return once things cooled down.
She was almost at the gate when—
"Miss Wang Yin."
She froze.
Slowly, she turned around.
A group of uniformed police officers stood before her.
"You are under arrest for the suspected murder of Wang Xue."
Gasps filled the airport. People pulled out their phones, recording everything.
Wang Yin's face turned pale. "No! This is a mistake! I—I didn't—"
The officers didn't listen. They handcuffed her and began leading her away.
The crowd murmured.
"She's finally getting what she deserves."
"She really tried to run away? Coward."
"Zi Ning won."
As Wang Yin was dragged out of the airport, her eyes burned with hatred.
She screamed one last time. "Zi Ning! You did this to me! I will make you pay!"
But no one was listening anymore.
Her reign was over.
