Chapter 8 - Blue eyed boy

Silch looked at the knife and at the man. He wanted the man to believe the story he would tell.

He said, acting as he was scared "Put that knife down i am not an invader. I didn't know these areas were restricted. I came from a small town very far from here, well i actually escaped. The town burned down a year ago as a bunch of bandits who held a grudge against the chief. Me and my family escaped escaped and we traveled to find another city. I do not know if there are other survivors. My family died when a pack steel teethed wolves attacked us 3 weeks ago. Only i survived. With all the remaining resources used up 2 days ago, i traveled all of yesterday and found this place today."

The man withdrew the knife, seeming to have believed the fabricated story. Silch knew the steel teethed wolf it was one of the many creatures that were referred to beasts or monsters in the novel. He knew only the steel teethed wolf as a steel teethed wolf cub once made the main character bleed and the people on the internet really praised it, calling it 'The only one that made him bleed and survived'. Even though that happened when the main character was still very weak at that time. 'People on the inter are in fact very stupid.' As he though of this, his thoughts quickly came into place and he saw the man put his knife a leather pouch.

The strong looking man opened his mouth, wanting to say something but he ultimately closed it. After examining Silch's clothing and scrutinizing his face.

After sometime the man pointed his finger towards his face and said "I wanted to ask you of your name, but your life is tragic enough."

He moved his hand towards the city, still pointing with his index finger outwards. "Ask the people inside about the nearest inn and find a job. Your blue eyes are enough to know that you are not from anywhere close to here." Then after he said this he finger pointed upwards towards the giant candle towering over the houses.

"If you don't wish to do normal jobs in the city, you can enter that tower, the entrance is somewhere around it. The tower holds tests, and if you pass, you might get some useful supernatural abilities. Your small town wouldn't have a 'Orb of Attribute' around."

Silch's face showed a sign of confusion as he heard what the man. 'What?, since when did this became public?. It was supposed to be a major secret!.'

Silch thought for a few seconds and asked.

"Tell me more about this 'City of Dawn'.

The man looked at Silch and said with a sigh "The 'City of Dawn' was built by king 'Samian' The first. Back then, his majesty was not a king yet. He was a commoner who escaped the kingdom of 'Holis' with a few thousands of refugees as the Holis kingdom was in civil war. He built a small town far away from the Hollis kingdom and named it 'The City of Dawn'. He became the first chief of the town and actually expanded it into an actual city. His descendants later expanded the city and turned it into an actual kingdom. Then they crowned them selves as the kings as nobody disagreed." The large brawny man bent his body and lowered his neck and sat on a rock the floor. His face became a bit sad. Then he continued. "The City became the first capital. But not for long. Due to the city's location near the border, it was continuously attacked by bandits and some beasts. It lost most of its population and became a less relevant cities. The city's symbol, that candle you saw earlier was extinguished and the stone was cracked. The worst part was a spread of a new language which was very different from the language the kingdom spoke before. You should know about this since we both speak it. The language was easy to pronounce and had many words to use to describe different things which the old language was very primitive and had an hints of the Holis Kingdom's traditions. Thus the change was very quick to spread. But this language was very offensive to out city, almost if the maker hated us. The word 'Dawn' in that language meant 'Calamity'. Thus we were called the 'City of Calamity'." The bald man said with a bit of anger on his face.

Silch did not expect the man to explain the entire history of the city, but it did explain many things for him. Silch looked at the main and asked with a bit of anticipation.

"Why is called 'The City of Dawn' again then?."
