Chapter 2 - Who am I?

'Crunch'

It was the sound of someone's footsteps. I became alert at the presence that was coming in the through the entrance of the cave.

'Wait this isn't human.' As I had always had a keen sense, I could sense it.

With a deep breath, I raised my hand, summoning the energy within. The mana responded to my will, coalescing into a shimmering arrow of pure energy.

The arrow glowed with an ethereal blue light, crackling with raw power.

'Crackle.'

I took aim, my eyes narrowing as they locked onto the cave's entrance.

A figure came in holding a basket filled with what seemed like herbs.

'Sizzle'

The arrow shot out of my hand unconsciously.

'Agh!' The figure was startled by the arrow and his basket filled with herbs fell out his hands.

I did not feel any malice or the expertise of an enemy assassin from this figure.

Before the arrow hit the young boy at the entrance, I quickly retracted the mana and dispersed the arrow at lightning speed.

'Thud' I turned my head and looked at the young boy that had fallen to the floor on his butt.

'Huff, huff'

"Master, master!"

"What was that? Was there an intruder just now?"

"More importantly are you okay? How did you manage to get up in the stage your body is in?"

I looked at this seemingly unthreatening creature calling me master. I would've not think more into it if I hadn't noticed that pair of dog like ears on his fluffy blue hair.

I looked at this weird creature and noticed his unusual bright grey eyes and hair that had these dark colors on it , as if the bright hair color had run out.

"Master are you listening? Master please sit down."

He seemed to be very endearing as his face was what you would rather call handsome.

'Have I seem him before? And why does he keep calling me master?'

"Master?"

The young boy came up to me; it's then that I realized that he was a head taller than me.

'Wait how short was I?' Most importantly I've never seen him before and this body doesn't seem to belong to me as it was too weak for my mana.

"Wait, Who are you and who is your master?"

The young boy seemed not to understand what I had just asked; as he tilted his head in confusion.

"Master, what are you talking about, first sit down your body is not used to thi-"

"Don't touch me and answer my question human."

"Master it's me Lowell, have you hit your head so hard you've forgotten me?"

I wanted to answer but I didn't have an answer to that. Before I could do anything, Lowell pouted his lips and his eyes became watery.

'What was happening here? I knew this expression had something to do, with what was it?'

'Oh it was that thing called crying; One I despised the most'

'Sniffle, Hmph' Lowell was biting his lips hard, as if not to let his cry come out his mouth.

That was futile as his master didn't comfort him as before. The tears that had threatened to fall, had fallen.

'Tears, crying I hated seeing someone crying, it made my chest have this weird feeling.'

"Don't cry, If you do it's going to give me a headache." I tried to comfort Lowell as I patted him in the shoulder.

I was expecting him to jump on me and hug on me or something, but it seemed he was restraining himself for whatever reason.

Not that I cared as I would've also prefer if he didn't.

I needed to figure out the situation and I find out how I ended up here.

Looking at Lowell he didn't seem like a warrior, though he seemed to have a very strong flow of mana circulating his body.

It seemed like he saved me. Was it him that brought me here, when I had fallen?

I needed to figure out the situation first.

I glanced at Lowell who was now cleaning his face which was all puffy and stuffy from all the crying.

Though I had to comment he was still very handsome at that.

"Lowell"

"Yes master?"

"As you can see I may have hit my head and I don't seem to recall anything, so could you help me?"

'Sniff' "Yes master, three days ago I head let master alone, after I told you I would go collect some herbs as master kept complaining about some strong headaches that came with your fever."

"I had just gone for a little while, when my gem glowed alerting me that master was in danger"

'Sniff, hmph , hmph' "Wh- When I came back master had stabbed himself with a knife in the chest. I- I though I had really lost you master. Wh- Why would you do something so horrific."

I listened while looking at Lowell, who had started crying again at this point.

"Master were you going to kill yourself because I wasn't fast enough? I'm sor-"

"Wait, what do you mean stab myself?" I asked now looking at Lowell who was clinging to my leg.

"Master you don't remember? Was it because of the fever?"

I didn't recall anything Lowell had mentioned at this point. I tried to but the only thing that came to mind was being covered in a veil and being carried somewhere, after that, after that nothing came to my mind.

'Hic, Sniffle' Lowell's sob's sounded in my ears disrupting me.

"Master~"

"Okay that's enough, and stop calling me master. I have a name, its- it-."I couldn't remember nothing. What was I?

I looked at my surroundings; it looked like as if someone had liven here for a very long time. There were utensils, clothes, a variety of herbs and what seemed like food all organized very well.

This cave looked a makeshift home. By the looks of it, it could've been Lowell who had saved me.

It was very unlikely as he had mentioned we had lived together for a very long time.

Adding to the fact that when I had used my mana earlier; my body had felt as it was about to explode. This body was too weak to circulate my mana.

This body looked ghoul and felt too weak; and the appearance I had seen earlier was not me.

This body was too weak, weak, and weak; it disgusted me.

"Lowell it seems I've lost my memories since I hit my head could you help me recall."
