When Luffy awoke, the first thing he noticed was the silence. It wasn't the peaceful silence of the ocean or the quiet of a night at sea. No, this was different. It was a silence that felt ancient.
He sat up, rubbing his head. "Oww… what happened?"
Around him, the crew was also regaining consciousness. Nami groaned as she pushed herself up. Chopper checked on an unconscious Usopp. Zoro stood first scanning the area.
And what an area it was.
They were no longer on the Grand Line.
The sky was a swirling mass of dark clouds, with faint traces of golden light trying to break through. The air smelled of rain, stone, and something old—older than the world they knew.
The ground beneath them was solid, but it wasn't an island in the traditional sense. It was a landscape of ruins and shadows—tall, crumbling towers covered in ivy, ancient bridges leading nowhere, and statues of warriors whose names had been long forgotten.
Franky whistled. "This place is super eerie."
"Where… are we?" Chopper asked, voice trembling.
Robin knelt, brushing her fingers over the cracked stone ground. "These markings… they don't belong to the Grand Line. They belong to a civilization that predates the Void Century."
Zoro's hand went to his swords. "You're saying we're standing on history that the World Government tried to erase?"
Robin nodded, her eyes filled with curiosity and concern.
Luffy stretched his arms and hopped to his feet. "Well, that just makes it even more exciting!"
A low growl echoed through the ruins.
The crew froze.
From the mist, a figure emerged.
He was tall, cloaked in tattered black robes, his face hidden beneath a hood. The only thing visible were his piercing silver eyes, glowing faintly. He carried a staff carved from dark wood, its tip glowing with an eerie blue light.
Luffy grinned. "Oi! Are you the welcome party?"
The figure didn't answer. He slowly raised his staff, and as he did, the air around them grew colder.
"You do not belong here," the man finally spoke, his voice deep, heavy with centuries of knowledge.
Zoro instinctively shifted his stance. "And just where is 'here'?"
The stranger studied them for a long moment before uttering a name that sent a chill through the air.
"This… is what remains of Middle-earth."
The crew fell silent.
Nami's grip on her weapon tightened. "Middle-earth…? That's not a place from the Grand Line."
Robin's expression was unreadable. "No, it's not."
Sanji exhaled a thin trail of smoke. "Then what the hell is it?"
The stranger stepped forward. "It is a world long forgotten… and one that should have stayed that way."
Luffy's grin widened. "Well, that's just making me want to explore it more!"
The stranger sighed. "Fools. You do not understand what you have stepped into." He turned away, his cloak billowing behind him. "If you value your lives, leave now."
But as he spoke, the ruins trembled.
From the depths of the mist, figures began to rise.
Hollow-eyed wraiths, clad in armour that had rusted over centuries their swords gleaming black as night.
Robin's voice was quiet but filled with warning. "Those are no ordinary ghosts."
The stranger didn't turn back. "They are the cursed remnants of an ancient war. And they are only the beginning."
The first wraith let out an ear-piercing shriek.
And then—they attacked.
