Chapter 41 - Fluff and Fury ( 41 )

Several hours later…

"DAMN THESE CREATURES!!" Hazuki yelled in frustration, barely managing to block an incoming attack.

A horned rabbit—a small, adorable-looking menace—rammed into his sword with terrifying speed.

"GIIHH!!"

Another one leaped at him from the side.

"WHY ARE THEY SO FAST!?" Hazuki dodged, barely avoiding another headbutt.

Then he realized the true problem. "AND DAMN IT—THERE'S A WHOLE ARMY OF THEM!!"

In front of him, at least a dozen horned rabbits were glaring at him, their tiny horns shining in the sunlight.

This was no hunt—this was WAR.

Hazuki gritted his teeth and swung his sword wildly. By some miracle, he managed to take down two of them.

"HAHAHAHA!! I GOT TWO!!" He grabbed the fallen rabbits and turned to run like hell.

But before escaping, he couldn't resist sticking his tongue out at the group of horned rabbits.

The rabbits stared.

Then—

The whole swarm charged after him.

"Oh Shit!!!!!" Hazuki screamed, sprinting for his life while carrying his prize. "These things are too persistent!"

Hazuki's legs burned, his breath ragged as he sprinted through the field, the swarm of furry demons hot on his heels.

This was insane. They were just rabbits—adorable, fluffy, small rabbits! So why the hell were they hunting him like a pack of wolves!?

With no choice left, Hazuki skidded to a stop, turned around, and dropped the two rabbits he had already taken down.

His hand gripped his sword tightly. "Alright, you little shits…" He unsheathed his weapon, the blade glinting under the sun. "BRING IT ON!!"

The first rabbit lunged.

Hazuki barely had time to react—he twisted his body, raising his sword just in time to block the headbutt.

"GUHH!!" The impact rattled his arms.

He gritted his teeth and pushed back, kicking the rabbit away.

Two more rabbits came at him from the sides.

Hazuki ducked, rolling forward, feeling their horns barely graze his back.

As he came out of the roll, another rabbit was already mid-air, aiming for his head.

"NOT TODAY!"

Hazuki swung his sword upward, slicing the rabbit in mid-air before it could land. It hit the ground with a final twitch. "ONE DOWN!!"

But the others didn't stop.

Four of them charged in unison.

Hazuki planted his feet and raised his sword, watching their movements carefully.

The first one went for his legs—Hazuki stepped back, slamming the flat of his blade against its side, sending it tumbling.

The second one tried to attack from the left—he sidestepped, bringing his sword down in a sharp arc. SLASH! Another one down.

The third and fourth rabbits leaped at him together, aiming for his chest.

Hazuki crossed his arms, gripping his sword tightly before swinging in a wide, horizontal slash.

Both rabbits collapsed mid-air, rolling lifelessly across the grass.

Hazuki panted, his body tense as he scanned the field. Only five left.

The remaining rabbits hesitated, their red eyes glaring at him, but their little bodies twitching with uncertainty.

Hazuki smirked, pointing his sword at them.

"Ohoho! Now I got plenty of them!!" Hazuki grinned like a madman, looking at the pile of defeated horned rabbits at his feet.

"Looks like my luck is finally on my side!!"

He threw his arms up in victory, laughing like a villain who just pulled off the perfect plan. "YEAH! I'm lucky today!!"

For once, things were actually going his way.

Or so he thought.

Because behind him…

The grass rustled.

Something large shifted in the bushes.

A shadow loomed over him.

And then—

Hazuki's victory grin vanished as he slowly turned around.

What he saw next made his soul leave his body.

A Giant Horned Rabbit.

Its red eyes glowed with fury.

Its massive horns looked sharp enough to skewer a cow.

And most importantly—

It was staring directly at the pile of dead rabbits at Hazuki's feet.

Hazuki gulped. "U-Uh…"

The Giant Rabbit snorted.

Hazuki instantly regretted everything. "CRAAAAAAAAAP!!!"

"I'M TAKING THIS!!"

Hazuki scooped up as many dead horned rabbits as he could, stuffing them under his arms while bolting in the opposite direction. "I'M NOT LETTING MY MONEY GO!!"

His legs burned as he sprinted, his breath ragged, but he refused to stop. "YES, YOU DIPSHIT! THIS BELONGS TO ME!!!"

But just as he thought he was getting away—

The Giant Horned Rabbit suddenly charged at full speed.

"OH SHI—"

Hazuki barely evaded in reflex, rolling to the side. But in doing so—

His entire pile of horned rabbit corpses scattered across the field.

Hazuki froze.

His money. His precious loot. All rolling away like worthless trash.

His hands trembled. His eyes darkened.

Then, slowly, he stood up, gripping his sword tightly.

A light green metal gleam reflected in the sunlight—the weapon infused with a slime crystal.

Hazuki's lips curled into a grin. "YOU ASKED FOR IT, BIG RABBIT!"

The Giant Rabbit snorted, lowering its head, its massive horns gleaming dangerously.

Hazuki burst into laughter as he charged forward. "TASTE THIS, FUCKER!!"

The giant rabbit lunged, trying to skewer him—

But Hazuki sidestepped at the last second, spinning around as his blade slashed cleanly across its side!

Hazuki gritted his teeth, eyes locked onto the Giant Horned Rabbit as it stomped the ground, preparing another charge.

His precious loot was gone, scattered across the field. But if he couldn't take the small rabbits…

"THEN I'M TAKING YOU INSTEAD!!"

The giant rabbit lunged forward, its massive horns aiming straight for his chest.

Hazuki grinned wickedly, his body moving on instinct. He sidestepped the charge, narrowly dodging the deadly impact, then swung his light green metal sword in a clean arc.

A thin cut appeared on the rabbit's side, but it barely flinched.

"Here! Taste this!!" Hazuki taunted, slashing again as the beast skidded to a stop and turned to face him.

The rabbit growled, its glowing red eyes locked onto him with murderous intent.

"Yeah, yeah, I get it! You're pissed! But guess what!?" Hazuki laughed, spinning his sword in his grip.

The rabbit charged again.

Hazuki grinned wider, dodging to the side once more and landing another slash on its leg.

"BUT I'M NOT GONNA DIE TO SOME LOW-LEVEL SHIT LIKE YOU!!!"

His blade glowed faintly as he lunged forward for the next attack—this time, aiming for a real kill shot.

The Giant Horned Rabbit snorted, scraping the ground with its front paws, ready for another charge.

Hazuki's blood was boiling, adrenaline rushing through his veins. "Come on… come on…"

The rabbit charged, faster than before, its horns gleaming under the sunlight.

Hazuki's grin widened.

At the very last second—

He jumped high, pushing off the ground with everything he had.

With the momentum from the jump, he pointed his sword downward—the light green blade shimmering faintly from the slime core.

He dropped down, his whole body weight behind the sword—

"DIE!! YOU PIECE OF SHIIIIIIIIITTTTTT!!!!"

The sword pierced through the rabbit's thick fur, sinking straight into its back.

The beast squealed in agony, thrashing wildly—

But Hazuki held on for dear life, clinging to the sword like a stubborn tick.

With one final push, he drove the blade even deeper, twisting it for good measure.

The rabbit let out a final shriek before collapsing onto the ground.

Hazuki rolled off, panting hard. He lay flat on his back, arms spread wide, staring at the blue sky.

"Haa… Haa… I did it…"

Then— his lips curled into a smug grin.
