Sunny woke to the feeling of warmth against his side.
For a moment, he just lay there, taking in the quiet.
The world outside was still, the soft glow of morning light filtering through the curtains.
And beside him.. was the sleeping beauty herself
Cassie.
She was curled up against him, breathing softly, her golden hair spilling over the pillow.
Her blindfold was off, resting nearby, and her serene expression made something tighten in his chest.
She looked… really cute.
Super cute, even.
Sunny let out a slow breath, trying to ignore the way his heart reacted.
Carefully, he shifted just enough to press a light kiss to her forehead.
Cassie stirred slightly, her brows furrowing as she mumbled, "Meanie."
Sunny chuckled, amused. "Meanie?" he repeated, pressing another kiss to her forehead. "And what exactly did I do to deserve that title?"
Cassie hummed, nuzzling against his chest. "Woke up first."
His lips quirked into a smirk. "That's a crime now?"
She didn't answer, just exhaled softly, content.
Sunny lingered for a moment longer before finally shifting, stretching slightly before sitting up.
He glanced down at her and offered his hand.
"Come on," he said. "I'll guide you to the living room for breakfast."
Cassie hesitated for a second before reaching up, her fingers brushing against his palm before settling in his grip.
Sunny helped her up carefully, making sure she had her balance before leading her out of the bedroom.
A few minutes later, they were seated at the small dining table, plates of simple but warm food between them.
Sunny took a bite, glancing at Cassie as she delicately ate her portion.
"How'd you sleep?" he asked casually.
Cassie paused for a moment before answering, "Good." Then, after a beat, she added, "You were warm."
Sunny raised an eyebrow. "That so?"
She nodded. "Mhm."
For some reason, that single acknowledgment sent a pleasant hum through his chest.
He decided not to think too hard about it.
Instead, he smirked. "I aim to be useful."
Cassie let out a small, amused breath, shaking her head.
They continued eating, exchanging quiet conversation and occasional laughter.
It was… nice.
After they finished, Cassie set down her fork and turned slightly toward him. "Do you want to do anything today?"
Sunny leaned back in his chair, considering. "I should be asking you that. Anything you feel like doing?"
Cassie thought for a moment before tilting her head slightly. "What do you recommend?"
Sunny tapped his fingers against the table. "Hm… how about something fun? There's an arcade nearby."
Cassie raised an eyebrow. "Sunny."
He smirked. "Before you say anything, I already thought about it. There are plenty of games you can play."
She seemed skeptical, but he continued,
"There's a rhythm game that uses sound cues, a punching machine, and even a cooperative game where I can guide you through it. And, if nothing else, I can just win you prizes."
Cassie hesitated, then slowly smiled. "You winning something for me? Now that, I'd like to see."
Sunny scoffed. "Are you doubting my skills?"
She shrugged. "I don't doubt you can do it. I just think it'd be funny to see you actually try."
'Wha? You can't even.. nevermind..'
Sunny narrowed his eyes playfully. "Alright, now you have to come. Just so I can prove you wrong."
Cassie chuckled, reaching for her staff.
"Fine. Lead the way."
'A day at the arcade, huh?'
This could be interesting.
