Chapter 1 - Prologue

United Rounds:"Hey, before you guys go, have you heard about that rumoured player going around?" The group had finished discussing their plans to fight Wezaemon, and so Katzo decided to move along the subject of their conversation. "Oh? you mean that 'Phantom Player?'" The pencil warrior responded with a curious tilt of her head. Sunraku slammed his hands on to the table, "Phantom Player? I've never heard of something like that!" He groaned disbelievingly. "How could you not have heard of them..?" Responded Katzo with a deadpanned voice. Letting out a sigh Pencil warrior spoke, "You're really an idiot, you know?" her voice travelled monotonously across the table."Oi! don't call me an idiot... Idiot!" Shouted Sunraku in his own defence, the two both stared at him blankly, "Can you just explain already!" He whined, the two both sighed in defeat."Fine Fine..." Pencil warrior brought her hand to her chin and organised her thoughts for a moment, "To start, the reason we were shocked you didn't recognise the title 'Phantom Player' is because its been blowing up around the Shangri-La forums." "Eh really? I didn't see anything?" Sunraku complained clearly upset he was missing out on potentially juicy game content. "Probably because you were too busy grinding! Now don't interrupt me again!" Shouted the pencil warrior, a visible vein protruding from her forehead and an aura of rage surrounding her. Sunraku immediately threw up his hands in forfeit, "Apologies ma'am!" And, even though the anger wasn't directed at him Katzo had reflexively recoiled away from the table.Pencil warrior cleared her throat lightly and regained her composure. "Ahem, Now without any more interruptions!" She said giving Sunraku a side-eye that could kill, "I will begin my explanation..""The Phantom Player" She begun making attentive care that Sunraku was listening, "They're a humanoid figure that has been spotted numerous times, they're normally geared up in pitch black and are usually spotted in the dead of night. The rumour started from a singular screenshot taken by a newbie in Firstia. I can't remember the exact question the newbie had but its not important. Higher level players began to realise that his gear was extremely high tier and so naturally people began to assume he belonged to some high up clan but when most clans denied knowing him things began to get weird." Pencil Knight paused and her eyes narrowed towards Sunraku to make sure he was still listening and also giving him a que that this was a time he could ask questions."I don't get it? He just seems like a normal solo player." Sunraku asked confusion written on the visible parts of his face. "Of course you would say something like that..." Katzo responded."Well the thing is most players who did spot him never got close enough to see a nametag either so most people began to believe he was an NPC for some new unique scenario." Katzo continued pencil knight's explanation. Pencil Knight nodded, "Mhm ever since that first screenshot he's only been spotted more and more but still no nametag and no interactions with other players.""Hence the name Phantom Player?" Sunraku went silent for a moment before a maniacal grin spread across his features, "But if he really is a unique scenario... I can only imagine the loot!" Senraku screamed, practically jumping from his chair in excitement muttering something about god-tier challenges."Hence why people are tryna find him dumbass!" Katzo shouted from Sunraku's side. Senraku leaned down towards Katzo, "Oh yeah? That's why we just have to find him first!" He argued in a mocking tone. "Afterall you still haven't even found a unique scenario yet!" Senraku teased, Katzo bubbled up with anger, "Yeah! Then why don't we have a competition! First one to find this phantom player wins!" Katzo boiling with rage proposed the challenge and Sunraku who is always up for one quickly accepted."Oi! don't forget you guys need to get up to level 50 for Wezaemon!" Pencil Knight Shouted, her own rage resurfacing and dwarfing the competitive air of Katzo and Sunrako.--- I pulled my full dive headset off my head and sat up in my bed, letting out a deep breath I didn't realise i was holding I spoke to myself, "Phew... I can't believe I got out of that dungeon alive... I mean come on! Three wyverns! I was underground what business did they even have down there! Not to mention all the other monsters I had to deal with..." The boy flopped back down onto his bed. He was entirely ready to fall asleep right there until.rumbleThe boys gaze swished across his room to the clock hung on the wall, "2AM? I totally forgot to eat!" The boy rushed out of his room slamming the door behind and dashed towards the kitchen. He frantically searched the cupboards looking for food as if he hadn't eaten in days. "Damn... I totally need to go shopping." He stared at the single cup noodle resting before him on the table. The click of the kettle alerted to him that the water had finished boiling and she stood up to pour the water onto the cup noodles. He then patiently waited for the noodles to get to his desired softness and begun eating. As he ate the only thing he could think about was plopping on his bed and falling into a comfortable sleep so he could wake up and start playing SLF once again."The forums were so right! This game is amazing I can't believe I waited so long to play it." He said as he sat on the edge of his bed in his pyjamas, "I can't wait to play it tomorrow!" Just as he was about to lay down and go to sleep he decided it'd be a good idea to check the forums for any new info on new areas or on anything newly discovered. As he began scrolling his eyes-widened in disbelief."Phantom Player?" He questioned as he started down at a post of a screenshot, "Just recently got a screenshot of our infamous phantom spotted only a little away from the ninth city." He read aloud the title and description of the post. Staring back at him in the screenshot of the "Phantom Player" was his very own avatar. This is the prologue to my Shangri-La Frontier book. I'm writing this because I couldn't find much content this anime anywhere so I'm not sure if many people will read but if you have thank you and I hope you enjoyed the first chapter.
