Chapter 23 - Painting

After some time we arrived at the college, without saying much I get out of the car and look at the place that will now be my college.

It's a beautiful and very large place with a campus that has a lush, well-trimmed lawn. I see several people going to their classes. Since I'm starting at a bad time, I'm super behind.

But my focus is not on a diploma, but only on getting away from my psychopathic brother.

'Think on the bright side... no conspiracies or killers after me... I just have to deal with a single crazy brother...' It's not that much better, but it should be easier than dealing with a conspiracy.

The course materials are mainly based on things provided by the college itself, so I don't need to bring anything with me.

I start walking to find my classroom while my brother went to park the car.

"Hey... miss, could you tell me where room 17 is? In the art area," I ask a blonde girl with a messy hairstyle.

She has green eyes and looks like she just finished a lot of running, her clothes are relatively simple, reminiscent of something that would be worn for a morning jog.

"Are you also in room 17? I've never seen you there before, I was just going there, let's go together," she says cheerfully while holding my hand and pulling me.

"My name is Emilia," she says as she continues to drag me along, but considerate enough so I don't fall.

"I'm Shizune," I introduce myself as I follow her, who is practically running. I think I'm not the super energetic type, so keeping up with this enthusiast seems difficult.

We soon arrive, it was much closer than I expected, it didn't take more than 3 minutes.

"This is our classroom, if you need any help, just count on me, and don't worry too much about the professor, he's kind of a jerk, like REALLY annoying," As Emilia says this, someone comes up from behind holding some materials.

"May I know who you are talking about, Miss Emilia?" A serious voice comes from the man with brown hair and brown eyes.

He adjusts his glasses slightly as he looks at Emilia, who turns to him as if she's frozen.

"I-It was just about, a-an... AN ANIME... that's just me telling my friend Shizune, right Shizune?" Emilia looks at me as if asking me to save her.

'So this is the art professor...'

"Yes sir, she was just talking a little about what she recently watched, I apologize for the inconvenience of blocking the entrance," I say as I gently push Emilia into the classroom.

"Okay, but let's not repeat this," He says as he enters and goes to his area, then I go to the back part while Emilia guides me.

"Thank you so much Shizune, phew... that was close, I could have gotten in a lot of trouble, I can't lose any more points or I'll end up failing."

Since my brother isn't here, it's easy for me to act the way I normally do, which makes me just see this girl as an annoying person.

But she could be useful.

"Could you lend me your phone? I need to research a few things..." there are some things I need to look up.

"Of course, one hand washes the other, I owe you for saving me from a mess, here you go, but don't let the professor see, he's pretty strict about that kind of thing and can take points from you," Her tone is sharp and energetic as she makes an exaggerated hand gesture.

"He's so cruel," She says the last part with a fake cry.

I ignore her since she seems annoying and open the browser, I don't recognize this company, but that doesn't matter much, the first thing I do is open the incognito tab and start searching about Yandere.

I need to be prepared, so I want to know more about these crazies, I start quickly searching about what to avoid when dealing with them and also why they act that way.

But in general, I don't find anything very useful, it just talks about how they can be dangerous and how it works, but these things are already obvious to me.

'Isn't there some kind of survival guide against Yanderes or something like that?' I search for this and some things appear in forums and anonymous posts, but most of them are just nonsense.

I decide to research more about the world, I should do this before my brother enters the classroom, because I'm sure he won't like me using a cell phone.

I quickly check the latest news and things about big companies.

'5 minutes have passed...'

"Emilia, here's your phone... thank you for the help..." I wanted to research more, but it wasn't safe.

"No need to thank me, you saved me from a big problem." Soon the professor adjusts his equipment and begins the lecture, although 1 minute later I see my brother entering.

The professor looks at him for a moment but ignores him, then my brother sits in one of the front seats.

The professor's lecture is about how art has changed over the years while still managing to maintain a more classical aesthetic reminiscent of past arts.

There are quite a few people here, so I feel a little safer because I know my brother won't do anything.

After watching the lecture, everyone had to take notes on the content using tablets that are fixed on the desks we're sitting at. It's quite modern, fortunately the tablets are easy to use.

So I spend the first few hours really trying to write down what he was saying, I at least have to pretend to be interested, after all, I know my brother knows why I chose this, so I have to show some progress in what I chose.

Otherwise, he might come up with an excuse to take me out of college because I didn't show any progress. After the entire lecture, the whole class moved to another room with several easels with blank canvases.

"All of you must create an art that represents your life, it doesn't have to be something beautiful or grand, it can even be a simple flower, paint what you think represents your life," the professor begins to speak.

"Let your mind and hands guide your art and see what it becomes."

I've never painted before, so I don't know if I'm good at it, but I've seen many works of art before, so I can try to do something.

'Something that represents my life...' I have no idea, so I just close my eyes, take a deep breath, and start painting.

We spend the next few hours painting until the time is up and the professor tells everyone to stop painting.

"Okay, now you can show your art to your classmates while I inspect them one by one."

I look at Emilia, who is next to me, and call her to see what I painted. As soon as Emilia looks at my art, she is momentarily shocked.

"Wow, it's very beautiful, you have a real talent for this... but... isn't it a bit too gloomy?"

"Do you think so? Could you show me yours?" I say to Emilia after hearing her response, she gives a triumphant smile and shows the painting she did.

What is drawn is a very beautiful and flowery square with vibrant and lively colors.

'I guess that makes sense...' After a few minutes, the professor comes to check my painting.

"Very good, you're the new student, aren't you? Your painting is impressive, it has a somber tone with so many emotions, although at the same time it also reminds me of an emotional mess," the professor looks at the art with a certain contemplation.

What I drew is something I didn't even expect myself, it's an image of a female shadow in a bright and beautiful place, but it's stained with blood all around.

The scene depicts the shadowy figure surrounded by both something beautiful and something dark.

"Could you tell me what inspired you?" the professor asks with curiosity.

"..."

"I'd rather not answer..." It is undoubtedly Sayuri that I painted, although it's just a shadow, it's still undeniably Sayuri, I feel like it has come to haunt me for my mistake.

'I'm regretting having chosen art...' I didn't like the painting, although the painting is truly beautiful, it still portrays something I don't want to remember.

"I understand, many artists keep the inspirations for their work a secret, but in any case, your art is quite unique among my students, I think it was an excellent start, although I advise you to try to make smoother strokes."

"The lines and contours of your painting were made with a lot of force, although that's not a problem, it takes away some of the depth of the painting, giving it a more unrealistic feel."

I think it's because everything that's happening to me seems so unreal that it was expressed in the painting, I think it was a mistake to let my hands and brain guide my work.

"Okay... thank you for the advice, professor," He gives me a gentle smile and moves on to the next painting. It seems he is only severe with those who make mistakes or are messy.

'What did my brother paint?' I glance at his work.

'...Siscon motherfucker go to hell' He made a nude painting of my body, but without leaving my head visible, so only the naked body is visible in the painting, while the face was obscured by a dark band.

Similar to game censorship where they just put a black bar.

I know it's my body just by looking at the painted breasts, those are clearly mine, and since he's a Yandere, I doubt he would think of another woman.

Also, he didn't do the head on purpose just so he wouldn't show it to others, he also made a kind of watermark that censors the more intimate parts, making whoever sees it have to use their imagination.

In other words, he didn't make it clear who it really is in the painting, this was practically an indirect message to me, as he positioned the painting so that I could clearly see it.

So even though he's exposing my body, he's also hiding it, showing his possessiveness by not really sharing my body.
