Elena had to return to the village to learn their decision regarding the livestock for sale. They had scheduled a prior meeting that afternoon, but she had been busy saving her husband. Thankfully, she had arrived just in time to rescue Ethan; otherwise, things might have ended badly.
As she entered the village, she noticed people gathered around the old tree, chatting and enjoying the late afternoon. Many elderly folks were resting in the shade while the younger ones ran playfully down the road.
Upon seeing Elena, the old people's interest was piqued.
"A young woman at this hour?" they murmured among themselves.
One elderly woman approached her and asked, "Young lady, what are you looking for in our village?"
"Hello, aunties. I'm looking for the village head," Elena replied politely.
"Are you the one the village head talked about this afternoon?" the woman inquired, her curiosity growing.
"Yes, auntie. If you'll excuse me, I need to find him."
Upon hearing that this was the young lady interested in buying livestock, the auntie, one who had been chosen by the village head to sell some of her livestock, became eager to assist Elena.
"Go ahead! Go ahead!"
Elena arrived at the village head's house and, upon seeing him waiting, she directly asked about their decision.
"Village head, I apologize for being late; I had an emergency at home," she said.
"No worries, young lady. The villagers have decided to sell their livestock to you, as long as the price is right," he replied.
"That's great! I'll take 50 pairs of each type of livestock, as we discussed earlier."
"Okay, but how are we going to transport them?" he inquired.
"I have my truck with me. You can load the livestock there, and I'll drive it when it's full. Since the farm is nearby, I can easily drop them off and come back for another load," Elena explained.
"If that's the case, we'll do as you say. I'll call the villagers to help you load the livestock," the village head said.
Elena nodded in agreement.
It took them four hours to complete the transaction. Once finished, Elena paid the village head 85 million green coins.
Feeling satisfied, she left the village. Before heading back to the camp, she stopped by her space to take a quick bath. Afterward, she checked the lively area for the livestock section, where animals roamed inside the fence: cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, horses, donkeys, rabbits, and buffalo.
I'll let my husband buy more exotic animals like tigers, pandas, lions, etc. I want to hoard as many animals as possible for the next generation.
She left her space and drove back to the police camp. The moment she entered, she heard a commotion near her husband's tent. There was a woman crying, standing behind him.
What's going on?
Elena couldn't see the woman's face because she was facing her back, but her curiosity was piqued. She wanted to witness the drama her husband was caught up in.
Then she heard the woman's voice, filled with accusation. "Why are you so cold to me? I just want to get to know you. The moment I saw you, I knew you were the one for me."
The police officers nearby couldn't help but shout, "Ohhhhh!"
Even Elena was speechless.
Did her husband break another woman's heart?
She didn't truly believe Ethan would cheat on her, knowing how attentive and responsible he had been in their past life. She never doubted him for a second.
Turning her attention back to the unfolding drama, she found herself enjoying the spectacle.
A cold, stern voice cut through the tension. "Miss, how many times do I have to tell you? How many words should I say to convince you that I am a married man, happily living with my wife. Are you just being stupid, or is your brain cells not working well?"
Everyone was stunned by their chief's harsh words. They had always seen Ethan remain cool and calm in any situation, but this was the first time they witnessed him lose his temper.
Ethan was in a foul mood, frustrated by this woman who had no shame. She had nearly barged into his tent, demanding to see him, and when he declined, she put on a dramatic performance. His patience was running out due to these women's nonsense.
He knew he needed to choose his words carefully, but this woman was pushing him too far.
Meanwhile, Elena, overhearing her husband's sharp reply, couldn't help but chuckle.
Ahh, look at my husband—so cool and handsome.
Trixie was stunned upon hearing Ethan's words. She burst out, "Liking me was your honor! Don't act like you're at a disadvantage. With my background and beauty, you've already won the lottery. So choose wisely."
She then turned to the crowd, exuding bravado and confidence.
"Right?" she asked, her voice ringing out.
Hearing her bold declaration, the onlookers whistled from afar, clearly entertained by the spectacle.
Elena was taken aback by the audacity of this woman. She wanted to see who this woman was, but she heard her husband's indifferent reply before she could catch a glimpse.
"Lieutenant, I think it's time to recheck the police psychological assessment. They seem more like gossip mongers than real cops."
Upon hearing this, the policemen retreated to a secluded area, trying to watch from a distance; they were afraid that the chief would put his anger on them.
Then he looked at Trixie with cold eyes. "I think it's better if you call a mental doctor. I believe you might be suffering from a delusional disorder. Do I need to repeat myself, Miss? I'm already married, so please stop bothering me."
Trixie, undeterred, replied with confidence, "Does your wife have a background like mine? Is she more beautiful than I am, or perhaps she's ugly? Can she help you advance in your career? You'd better think carefully about that."
Ethan was about to leave, but upon hearing her questioning his wife, he stopped and said, "Background? What does background have to do with marrying a wife? Beautiful? My wife is the most beautiful woman in the world. Rank? I can achieve that on my own; I don't need my wife to work for me. And you? With your self-centered attitude, I bet only men with ulterior motives would be interested in you. A genuine man? Heh, you'd better pray to God, because that would only happen in your dreams. Shameless woman, you'd better leave. Otherwise, I'll drag you out of this camp myself. Dare to challenge me again, and I'll put you in a cell. I won't waste my time talking to a brainless woman like you. Get lost."
Ethan's outburst sent a chill through the police officers nearby.
How dare you?
Anyone could insult or mock him, and he wouldn't bother retaliating. But once someone poked at his bottom line, he would fight with all his might. Elena was his bottom line, the treasure he had cherished since they were young, and this woman dared to question his wife's worth.
Before Trixie could respond, she heard a woman calling her "auntie."
"Auntie, why are you standing in front of my husband?" Elena asked, her tone dripping with mockery.
Upon seeing his wife, Ethan's bad mood lessened, and a cheerful note crept into his voice.
"Wife, you're back! Come here."
Trixie felt a surge of anger upon realizing the woman who called her auntie was Ethan's wife. She raised her hands and pointed a finger at Elena.
"You!" She had intended to mock Elena for being ugly, but the sight of Elena's youthful beauty left her speechless.
Elena was supposed to act like a cool and indifferent wife, but seeing Trixie, her gentle demeanor vanished, replaced by a dangerous glint in her eyes.
The tense atmosphere was palpable; Those who had been on the battlefield for decades could sense Elena's murderous intent and bloodlust.
Yes, she wanted to kill this woman—the one who had orchestrated the manhunt operation of the military in her past life. She was the reason aliens knew about her and desperately wanted to have her.
"Heather? Put your finger down. Trust me, you don't want to leave this camp handless."
