Chapter 40 - Chapter 6: instructor

The club was in chaos.

Vampires lunged toward them, eyes glowing with bloodlust.

Rayna tightened her grip on the heart. It pulsed in her hands, heavy, sick with corrupted energy.

"Time to pass the ball," Damon said, cracking his knuckles.

Rayna smirked. She tossed the heart.

Chi caught it mid-air—and vanished.

One moment he was there—then gone, moving through the club like a shadow.

Vampires roared in frustration, chasing after him, but Chi was too fast, too precise. He leapt over tables, twisted between stunned clubgoers, using every darkened corner to his advantage.

But they were gaining.

"Switch!" he called, flinging the heart to Damon.

Damon snatched it mid-motion, turning sharply as three vampires lunged for him. He didn't stop.

A table flipped. A vampire crashed through it.

Another lunged—Damon slammed his elbow into its jaw without breaking stride.

They ran through the club, passing the heart like a deadly relay.

But then—

A Voice in the Dark

A slow, mocking clap echoed through the chaos.

"Ahh, man… I leave for a few days for a meeting, and now look at this mess."

Everything stopped.

The vampires froze, expressions twisting from rage to something else.

Fear.

Rayna, Chi, and Damon felt it immediately.

Power.

The air itself seemed to warp, pressure pushing down on their lungs. A presence far beyond any vampire they'd faced.

A figure stepped out from the shadows, stretching lazily. His eyes glowed a deep, ancient red.

He smiled.

"You three have something of mine," he mused, tilting his head. "I'll take it back now."

Damon, Rayna, and Chi instinctively took fighting stances.

They couldn't win this alone.

So they did the only thing they could.

They attacked together.

One for All

Damon struck first—a direct hit to the heart. A full-force blow that should have shattered ribs.

Chi followed immediately—his daggers slicing through the air, aiming for the throat.

Rayna unleashed her summons—silver chains wrapping toward their enemy like hungry serpents.

The air cracked with force.

But—

The vampire raised a single hand.

A barrier formed.

Damon's fist hit something invisible.

Chi's blades stopped mid-air.

Rayna's chains shattered before reaching him.

Then—he waved his hand.

A shockwave blasted through them.

The three were sent flying, crashing into walls, skidding across the floor.

Pain. Dizzying. Suffocating power.

The vampire stepped forward, calm, composed.

"You're strong," he mused. "But not enough."

He smiled, fangs glinting.

"I'll be taking my heart now. And you three—" His gaze darkened, voice dripping with amusement.

"I think I'll make you my new pets."

A New Challenger

Before he could move—

A new voice cut through the silence.

"Finally."

From the entrance of the VIP section, a figure stepped into the room.

Their presence sent a ripple through the air—one that made even the vampire pause.

"I've been looking for a way inside this club," the voice said, slow, deliberate.

Instructor Darius had arrived.
