Chapter 10 - deep breath

Sunny shouted to his teammate, "Throw another grenade! Now!"

But his teammate hesitated, his eyes wide with concern. "Captain, if another grenade goes off, this whole building could come down on us!"

Sunny's face twisted in frustration, his eyes blazing with annoyance. "Damn it!" he cursed, his voice low and vicious. "Can't anyone just follow orders around here?"

Sunny took a deep, calming breath, feeling the air fill his lungs. He closed his eyes for a brief moment, focusing his mind and clearing his thoughts.

He opened his eyes, his gaze locking onto the enemy position. He took aim, his finger resting lightly on the trigger.

With a steady hand and a focused mind, Sunny squeezed the trigger. The rifle cracked loudly, the bullet piercing the air with a sharp whine.

Time seemed to slow as the bullet hurtled towards its target. Sunny's eyes followed its trajectory, his heart pounding in his chest.

The bullet struck one of the enemy soldiers squarely on the chest, fortunately he wasn't wearing a plate, the impact visible even from a distance. The soldier's body jerked backward, his rifle falling from his grasp.

He took another deep breath, his mind already shifting to the next target.

Sunny whispered to himself, "One more."

He inhaled deeply, feeling the air fill his lungs, and then exhaled slowly, his focus narrowing. His eyes scanned the enemy position, searching for the next target.

His gaze locked onto another enemy soldier, who was still exchanging fire with Sunny's teammate. The soldier was oblivious to his comrade's fall, his attention solely focused on returning fire.

Sunny's eyes narrowed, his finger tightening on the trigger. He took a moment to align his shot, ensuring a clear line of sight to his target.

With a steady hand and a calm mind, Sunny squeezed the trigger. The rifle cracked loudly, the bullet shooting out of the barrel with a burst of flame.

The bullet hurtled towards its target, striking the enemy soldier in the shoulder. The soldier's body jerked backward, his rifle falling from his grasp as he crumpled to the ground.

Sunny quickly shouted to his teammates, "Cease fire! Cease fire!"

His teammates immediately stopped firing, their eyes locked on Sunny as he rushed towards the wounded enemy soldier.

Sunny drew his knife from its sheath, the blade glinting in the dim light of the hallway. He sprinted towards the soldier, his footsteps echoing off the walls.

The soldier, realizing he was about to be overrun, tried to scramble to his feet. But Sunny was too quick. He pinned the soldier to the ground, his knee digging into the soldier's chest.

Sunny's knife flashed in the light, the blade hovering inches from the soldier's throat. The soldier's eyes went wide, his breath coming in ragged gasps.

Sunny's face was set in a grim mask, his eyes blazing with intensity. He leaned in close, his voice low and menacing. "You're not going anywhere," he growled.

The enemy soldier tried to struggle, but his injuries were too severe. He weakly attempted to push Sunny away, but his arms were like lead, unable to muster the strength.

Sunny's grip on the knife remained firm, his eyes locked on the soldier's. With a swift, decisive motion, he plunged the blade into the soldier's throat.

The soldier's eyes widened, his pupils dilating in shock. He tried to scream, but only a faint gurgle escaped his lips. His body convulsed, his limbs twitching in a final, futile struggle.

Sunny watched, his face expressionless, as the light faded from the soldier's eyes. The soldier's gaze, once filled with hatred and fear, slowly lost its intensity, becoming dull and lifeless.

With one final shudder, the soldier's body went limp, his chest ceasing to rise and fall. Sunny withdrew the knife, his eyes still locked on the soldier's face.

He stood up, his chest heaving slightly, his heart still racing from the adrenaline. He looked around, taking in the carnage, before turning to his teammate.
