Chapter 2 - The Binding

"I am Krysstar. Why have you summoned me?" asked the beautiful woman with amethyst hair. Long black horns protruded from behind her pointed ears, climbing backwards before curving forward. A pitch-black, open dress hugged her graceful curves, and large, leathery bat wings extended from her back. A long black tail flowed down from her spine, thick at its base and tapering off into a shape resembling a purple bellflower. Her legs were not human; they were those of a deer. Deep red eyes pierced through the man who awaiting a response.

"Is that what happened? I summoned you with those strange words?" the man questioned. Krysstar's graceful facade faltered. She floated down to the floor and approached him. "Are you saying you summoned me by accident?" she huffed.

Unsure, the man replied, "Yes."

"What is your name?" she asked, worry evident in her voice.

"Casteron," he answered.

"Casteron, huh? Let me guess—you don't know anything about what you did or who I am," she said, impatience creeping into her tone. Casteron nodded in response. She sighed. "Well, you're better than nothing," she remarked, rubbing her temple. "Do you at least know what Dernite is?" He shook his head. Another sigh escaped her lips. "I guess I'm going to have to teach you everything. Firstly, what you did was a demon summoning. Upon summoning me, our souls are bound until death do us part. Secondly, you are obligated to provide me with sustenance. In return, I will serve you. And finally, through our soul connection, you will begin to change—both physically and mentally. You will also gain the ability to manipulate your inherent Dernite. Do you understand?"

"I think I do," Casteron replied, rubbing his head and starting to feel a bit more relaxed.
