That evening, Ye Chen returned home, his heart heavy with worry. The faint smell of medicine lingered in the air, a stark reminder of his mother's worsening condition. She had been bedridden for months now, her body growing weaker by the day. The doctors had long given up hope, telling him there was nothing more they could do. Yet, Ye Chen refused to accept that.

When he entered the room, his mother was lying in bed, her face pale and sweat beading on her forehead. Her body trembled as another violent coughing fit racked her chest. Ye Chen could see the pain in her eyes, the exhaustion from fighting a battle that seemed endless. He knew he couldn't let her suffer like this any longer.

"Mom," Ye Chen said softly, walking to her bedside. He sat down and gently took her hand in his, squeezing it reassuringly. "I'm going to make you better."

His mother's eyes flickered with concern, but she was too weak to argue. "Ye Chen… you don't have to worry about me. I'm… I'm not worth saving." Her voice was barely a whisper, worn thin from months of sickness.

Ye Chen's heart clenched at her words, but he kept his composure. He had already failed her once in his past life, but not again. This time, he would be different. He would make sure she had the chance to live. He would take care of everything.

"Mom, don't say that," Ye Chen replied, his voice filled with quiet determination. "I'll do whatever it takes. Just trust me."

With that, he stood up and left the room, his mind focused and resolute. Ye Chen didn't need anyone's help. He had the knowledge, the experience, and the skills of a ten-thousand-year-old immortal. Crafting a healing pill was easy for him, even in this modern world, where spiritual energy was scarce. The herbs may not have been the same as the rare, powerful ingredients from the cultivation world, but he could still work with them.

He didn't waste any time. Ye Chen grabbed the small amount of money he had and hurried out of the house. He knew exactly where to go—a local market that sold medicinal herbs. Most of the sellers were ordinary people, peddling basic remedies, but Ye Chen didn't need anything special. Just a few key ingredients would do the trick.

As he walked through the crowded market, Ye Chen's mind raced. There was no room for failure. His mother's life depended on this, and he wouldn't fail her again. His fingers brushed over the bundles of dried herbs, his eyes scanning each one with careful precision. After picking out the herbs he needed, Ye Chen paid and hurried back home.

Locking himself in his room, he wasted no time. His hands moved with practiced ease, preparing the herbs and combining them with spiritual energy. Though the air around him was devoid of true spiritual energy, Ye Chen was able to draw on the reserves within his body. He focused on refining the energy, pouring it into the concoction. He could feel the faint hum of power as the pill began to take form.

Time seemed to blur as Ye Chen worked. His mind was fully absorbed in the process, the familiar task bringing him a sense of calm. He had crafted pills countless times before in his past life, but this was different. This time, the pill wasn't just for him. It was for his mother, the woman who had always cared for him, who had loved him unconditionally despite everything.

Finally, after hours of meticulous work, Ye Chen stepped back. In front of him lay a small, unassuming pill. It was nothing special to look at—just a tiny, pale sphere. But to Ye Chen, it was everything. It contained the spiritual energy needed to heal his mother's sickness and restore her vitality.

With steady hands, he took the pill and walked back to his mother's room. His heart pounded in his chest as he entered, finding her still lying in bed, her breathing shallow and labored. She barely seemed to notice him as he sat down beside her.

"Mom," Ye Chen said gently, holding out the pill. "I've got something for you."

His mother looked at him with tired eyes, her lips trembling slightly. "Ye Chen… what is this?"

"It's a medicine," Ye Chen explained softly. "It'll make you feel better."

She hesitated for a moment, but then, trusting her son's words, she took the pill from him. As soon as it touched her tongue, her eyes widened in surprise. She swallowed it without hesitation, and within moments, a strange warmth spread through her body. Ye Chen watched her closely, his heart thudding in anticipation.

At first, nothing happened. The minutes stretched on in tense silence. Ye Chen's mind raced—had he failed? Was it too much for her body to handle? But then, just when he was starting to doubt himself, his mother's breathing began to steady.

She blinked, her eyes clearing as the fog of illness began to lift. Her face, once pale and gaunt, slowly regained some color. The pain that had plagued her for so long seemed to fade, replaced by a look of wonder.

"Ye Chen…" she whispered, her voice stronger now. "What… what did you do? How do you feel so much better so quickly?"

Ye Chen couldn't help but smile, a sense of relief flooding through him. "I told you, Mom. I'm going to take care of everything."

His mother stared at him, her eyes filled with awe and confusion. She reached out and touched his hand, as if she couldn't quite believe what was happening. For the first time in months, she seemed like herself again, free from the chains of her illness.

But Ye Chen knew this was only the beginning. The pill had worked, but it was only a small step toward the ultimate goal. His mother's health would improve, but there were still so many dangers ahead. He had just begun to tap into the power of his past life, and there was much more he needed to learn if he was to reach the peak of cultivation once more.

As his mother closed her eyes, resting peacefully for the first time in ages, Ye Chen looked out of the window, his thoughts drifting back to the days ahead. The world may have seemed peaceful now, but Ye Chen could sense the storms on the horizon. The path he had chosen would not be easy, and there would be challenges at every turn.

But one thing was certain—no matter what happened, Ye Chen would not back down. He would fight for his family, for the life he had lost and now regained. And he would use every ounce of his power, every bit of his knowledge, to ensure that no one, not even the heavens, could stand in his way.

The future was uncertain, but Ye Chen felt a surge of confidence. He had taken the first step toward reclaiming everything he had lost. And there was no turning back
