Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: The War Between Heaven and Mortal

The heavens rumbled, the very laws of existence trembling under the weight of an impending catastrophe.

Xiao Lan stood tall amidst the destruction, his black robes fluttering like the wings of a death god. His crimson eyes, shimmering with a mix of abyssal darkness and celestial fury, locked onto the Divine Envoy before him. The so-called immortal warrior, once an untouchable force of the heavens, now clutched his bleeding wound, golden blood dripping from his chest where Xiao Lan's sword had struck.

The world itself seemed to reject Xiao Lan's existence. The sky split apart, divine light pouring down in holy judgment. The weight of a thousand realms pressed against him, as if the heavens had decreed his eradication.

Yet, Xiao Lan only smirked.

"An envoy of the Divine Heavens," he mused, tapping the flat of his sword against his shoulder. "I thought you'd be stronger."

The Divine Envoy's face twisted with rage. "You dare mock the heavens?! Insolent mortal—your very existence is a sin! The decree has been passed—you shall die by celestial law!"

BOOM!

The celestial being erupted with golden flames, his spear morphing into a radiant dragon, coiling around his body as divine inscriptions illuminated the air. The surrounding space fractured, unable to withstand the force of his power.

"Heaven's Wrath—Celestial Dragon Judgment!"

The sky roared as the titanic dragon of divine energy lunged forward, its maw wide open, seeking to devour Xiao Lan whole. The sheer force of the attack crushed mountains, split rivers, and sent shockwaves rippling across the continent.

But Xiao Lan… simply raised his sword.

The air itself froze.

A deep, dark energy surged around him—a power that did not belong to this world, nor to the celestial heavens. The moment he swung his blade, the very fabric of space tore apart.

"Abyssal Void—Annihilation Slash."

SHATTER!

The heavens screamed.

The celestial dragon split in two, its divine essence instantly devoured by the abyssal energy of Xiao Lan's sword. The Divine Envoy barely had time to react before a black crescent of sword energy tore through the sky—and slashed straight through his chest.

SPLURT!

Golden blood sprayed like a fountain as the Divine Envoy staggered, disbelief in his eyes. His divine armor, once thought indestructible, shattered like fragile glass. His spear fell from his hands, the holy inscriptions fading.

He, a mighty warrior of the heavens, had been cut down by a mortal.

"This… is… impossible…" the Divine Envoy gasped.

Xiao Lan tilted his head. "Possible or not, it doesn't change the fact that you're dying."

With a final step, Xiao Lan vanished—and reappeared right in front of the celestial being. His sword flashed once more.

SHING!

The Divine Envoy's head soared into the air, his lifeless body collapsing moments later.

For the first time in history, an Immortal King had been slain by a mortal.

The heavens shuddered. Lightning crackled across the sky, storms forming in the celestial realm.

And then, a voice—a voice that shook the entire world—boomed from beyond the heavens.

"Xiao Lan… you have crossed the line."

The sky ripped apart, and from within the divine realm, figures emerged.

Not one.

Not two.

But twelve celestial beings, each radiating an aura far beyond the slain envoy's.

The true gods had descended.

Xiao Lan's smirk widened, his grip on his sword tightening. "Well, well… looks like things are finally getting interesting."

The war between heaven and mortal had truly begun.

To Be Continued…
