After entering the kingdom, there was no time to rest. Regis led the protagonist and the group straight to the castle, where the king awaited their report.
The castle was massive, surrounded by towering walls, with heavily armed guards stationed at every corner. As they approached the main gate, the guards opened the doors immediately, a sign of how important this mission was.
Regis: "Do not speak unless spoken to. Respect royal protocol."
The protagonist nodded silently, ready for what was to come.
Inside the Throne Room
Upon entering the hall, the scene was breathtaking. Massive pillars lined the sides, golden chandeliers illuminated the space, and at the far end sat King Alric, clad in an ornate suit of armor, his gaze radiating authority.
Regis stepped forward and bowed before the king.
Regis: "Your Majesty, we have returned from our mission in the Black Forest. However, there are urgent matters that require your attention."
The king raised an eyebrow with interest, then gestured for Regis to continue.
King Alric: "Speak."
Regis began recounting their journey—the bandits they encountered and the growing unrest in the outer regions. But the most intriguing part came when he introduced the protagonist.
Regis: "Your Majesty, during our travels, we came across this young man, Ares, under unusual circumstances. He possesses exceptional combat skills, and we believe his potential is worth considering."
The king's gaze locked onto Ares, making him feel the weight of the royal scrutiny.
King Alric: "Ares, tell me... who are you? And what do you seek in my kingdom?"
Ares knew this was a crucial moment, so he carefully chose his words.
Ares: "I am merely a warrior searching for a place to belong. I have no home, no family. But I seek an opportunity to prove myself."
The king remained silent for a moment, then smirked slightly.
King Alric: "Your desire to prove yourself is admirable… but in this kingdom, strength alone is not enough. I will test you soon. If you are worthy, you may find a place here."
Ares bowed respectfully, knowing that his true journey was just beginning.
