Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Gates of the Kingdom

After a long and exhausting journey through the forest and a fierce battle with the bandits, the protagonist finally stood before the grand walls of the kingdom. Towering and imposing, the walls were lined with watchtowers, while heavily armed guards stood at the massive gate.

Beyond the walls, the city was bustling with life. Smoke rose from chimneys, and the voices of merchants and travelers waiting to enter filled the air.

Regis, the knights' leader, turned to the group: "Once we enter, don't cause any trouble. We're here on official business."

The protagonist glanced at the guards stationed at the entrance. It was clear that entry wasn't granted easily.

Inspection at the Gate

As the knights approached, a guard in heavy armor with a scar on his face stepped forward to block their path.

Guard: "Your identification? What is your purpose here?"

Regis confidently pulled out the Royal Knights' emblem.

Regis: "We are knights of the kingdom, returning from our patrol. We have a new recruit with us."

The guard's eyes shifted toward the protagonist, scrutinizing him closely before narrowing his gaze.

Guard: "He doesn't look like a knight... Where are you from?"

The protagonist felt a slight unease but concealed it well.

Protagonist: "I'm just someone skilled in combat. Your commander saw potential in me."

The guard continued to stare for a moment, then sighed and gestured for them to pass.

Guard: "Do not cause any trouble in the kingdom. Move along."

Entering the City

The moment they stepped inside, the protagonist was captivated by the sight before him.

The streets were paved with stone, and buildings with intricate designs lined both sides. Merchants called out their wares, children ran through the alleys, and horse-drawn carriages moved through the bustling roads.

But there was no time to admire the scenery.

Regis: "We head straight to the castle. The king needs a full report on what happened."

The protagonist could feel it—this was just the beginning. The real challenges had yet to begin…
