The book fell out of Lilith's hand, she was so frightened by Lana's rush. She watched her silently as she turned her back on the door and slid to the floor. When she saw the fear in Lana's eyes, her blood froze. Many thoughts ran through her mind about what could have made Lana so startled, but in the end she pushed the thoughts away because she was getting more and more addicted to her imagination.
"What...happened?" She asked the question fearfully as she crouched at the end of her bed.
"I don't really know myself. I think I met the boss, his name is Elias. I also learned that they thought they had been waiting for me for a long time. I don't know what they are planning, but I think it's better not to wait. I'm running away, will you come with me?" She looked determinedly at Lilith, who had a look of shock on her face. She could see that the gears in her brain were turning, but in vain, they wouldn't come up with anything anyway.
"I don't think it's a good idea. Where would we go? Have you looked? There is a blizzard and the evening is even colder, we would freeze to death." Lilith tried to come up with reasons to talk Lana out of the suicide mission. It didn't work as Lana jumped up from the ground and started to put her thick clothes back on.
"I'd rather freeze to death than be a victim of vampires." Lana grumbled under her breath, she couldn't understand how Lilith could kill herself like that. After dressing warmly, she slung her traveling bag over her shoulder and left the room with great vigor. She didn't run into a single orphan in the corridors, which worked to her advantage. Hovering at the exit, she struggled to get out, as the large gate also opens with a code.
She couldn't think about it for long, as the sound of footsteps from the end of the corridor broke the silence, coming closer and closer to her. She couldn't hide anywhere, there was nothing in the corridor that could be used for this purpose, and she couldn't even enter any of the rooms, since they also open with a code. She gulped as she waited for footsteps to approach her. Before long, she caught sight of Elias, who was walking towards her with sluggish steps.
Lana pressed her back against the gate, she didn't have much other options. As he approached her, Lana was shocked to notice that he had a smile on his face.
"They said you're very smart, but that move of yours was pretty dumb, don't you think?" Elias asked her, enjoying her stupidity. She had to admit to herself that she certainly didn't have a well-thought-out plan, but she couldn't sit back and wait to see what they would do to her.
"I didn't really have a choice, otherwise if you arrived a few minutes later, I would have picked the lock for sure by then." She stood up for herself confidently, but in the meantime she had already conducted her own funeral. She was like, if you have to go, you have to go, everyone dies anyway, even this vampire.
"Be it as you say. I'm not going to argue with you right now, but I'd appreciate it, if I could escort you back to your room right now. Would you be so kind?" He held his hands out behind him, signaling to Lana that it was time to go. She started off, seething in herself, Elias walking closely behind her. However, the girl was surprised that the man didn't even scold her, a faint spark of hope started burning inside her that maybe the man didn't have bad intentions after all. When they reached the door to her room, Lana turned around to face the vampire.
"I would say thank you for accompanying me, but since I didn't come back of my own accord, I won't thank you." She stared at the man with a sarcastic grin, not hiding the fact that she was not happy about all of this.
"Very unwelcome then." Elias laughed and left the girl there, she just stood there peering in front of the door. Then she stared after the man until he was out of sight, only then did she open the door to the room. Frustrated, she stood to undress, which she had to do in silence as Lilith was already asleep. Lana stared at the sleeping girl in astonishment for a while, she couldn't understand with her common sense how she could sleep so peacefully, when they were in such a situation.
