Chapter 17 - The visit

I was sitting in the living room of Julian's mansion, reading a book and trying to pass the time. Julian had been busy with work all day, and I hadn't seen much of him.

Just as I was starting to get bored, I heard the sound of the front door opening. I looked up to see Victoria walking into the room, a smug look on her face.

"Alexandra," she said, her voice dripping with venom. "I see you're still enjoying the luxuries of Julian's mansion."

I felt a surge of annoyance at her tone, but I tried to keep my cool. "Victoria," I said, my voice neutral. "What are you doing here?"

Victoria smiled, walking over to me. "I just wanted to check in on you," she said. "Make sure you're not getting too comfortable in Julian's mansion."

I raised an eyebrow, feeling a sense of unease. "I'm not sure what you're insinuating," I said.

Victoria laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "Oh, I think you know exactly what I'm talking about," she said. "You think you can just waltz in here and steal Julian away from me? I don't think so."

I felt a surge of anger at her words, but before I could respond, Julian walked into the room. "Victoria," he said, his voice cold. "What are you doing here?"

Victoria turned to him, a smile still plastered on her face. "Just visiting Alexandra," she said. "Making sure she's not getting too comfortable."

Julian's eyes narrowed. "I think it's time for you to leave," he said.

Victoria's smile faltered for a moment, but then she regained her composure. "Fine," she said. "I'll leave. But this isn't over, Alexandra."

And with that, she turned and walked out of the room, leaving me feeling shaken.

Julian turned to me, his expression concerned. "Are you okay?" he asked.

I nodded, trying to play it cool. "Yeah, I'm fine."

Julian's eyes lingered on mine for a moment, and then he nodded. "Good," he said. "I'll go make sure Victoria leaves the property."

I watched him go, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. I was glad that Julian had intervened, but I couldn't shake the feeling that Victoria was going to be a problem

I tried to focus on my book, but I couldn't concentrate. My mind kept wandering back to Victoria's threatening words.

Just as I was starting to get anxious, Julian returned to the room. "Victoria's gone," he said, his expression reassuring.

I nodded, feeling a sense of relief. "Thanks for getting rid of her," I said.

Julian smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Anytime," he said. "You don't have to deal with her alone."

I felt a surge of gratitude towards Julian, and I smiled back at him. "Thanks," I said.

We sat there in silence for a moment, and then Julian spoke up. "I have some work to do," he said. "But I'll be back to check on you later."

I nodded, feeling a sense of relief. "Okay," I said.

As Julian left the room, I couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder. Who was this man, really? And why was he being so kind to me?

I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts. I didn't have time to worry about Julian's motivations. I had to focus on my own problems.

But as I sat there, alone in the room, I couldn't shake the feeling that Julian was hiding something from me. Something important.
