Chapter 18 - Glimpse of the Past

I woke up the next morning feeling a sense of unease. The encounter with Victoria had left me shaken, and I couldn't stop thinking.

As the day went on, I couldn't shake the feeling that Julian was hiding something from me. I had caught glimpses of a deeper pain in his eyes, but he always seemed to push it away.

I decided to do some digging and see if I could uncover more about Julian's past. I started by asking the staff at the mansion, but they seemed reluctant to talk.

It wasn't until I stumbled upon an old photo album in the library that I finally got some answers. The album was filled with pictures of Julian and his family, and as I flipped through the pages, I saw a glimpse of a happy, carefree Julian.

But as I turned the page, I saw a picture that made my heart skip a beat. It was a photo of Julian and a girl, taken when they were much younger. They were standing together, smiling and happy, and I could see the chemistry between them.

I felt a pang of jealousy, but I pushed it away. I was determined to understand Julian's past, no matter what it took.

As I continued to flip through the album, I saw more pictures of Julian and that same girl, and it was clear that they had been close.

As I closed the photo album, I heard a noise behind me. I turned to see Julian standing in the doorway, a look of curiosity on his face.

"What are you doing?" he asked, his eyes locked on the photo album.

I felt a surge of nervousness, but I tried to play it cool. "Just looking at some old photos," I said.

Julian's eyes narrowed slightly. "I see," he said. "And what do you think of my childhood?"

I hesitated, unsure of how to respond. But then I saw something in Julian's eyes, something that looked almost like vulnerability.

"It looks like you had a happy childhood," I said, trying to sound sincere.

Julian's expression softened slightly. "I did," he said. "But it wasn't all easy."

I felt a surge of curiosity, but before I could ask any questions, Julian turned and walked away.

"Julian, wait!" I called after him.

But he just kept walking, leaving me feeling frustrated and confused.

What was Julian hiding? And why was he so determined to keep his past a secret?

I was determined to find out.
