Kai dashed off towards the monsters, Lena could only watch as he was ready to sacrifice himself to save her, images of the night Caden ran off into the shadows to save him kept on flashing before his eyes.
"I'm not weak anymore. I'll be the one to protect instead of seeking protection the, me from that night died along with Caden... and now–"
Kai's eye burned with resolve as he sprinted towards the creatures at the last moment he kicked off the ground launching himself onto the wall. His body coiled like a spring muscles tensed and with a powerful push he soared over the horde.
The monsters roared in frustration their clawed hands swiping at empty air as Kai slipped over them, he coiled his arm mid air readying his staff to strike, with a forward thrust of his arm his staff pierced through the head of the monster at the end of the horde, he staggered a little bit didn't stop.
"Lena, run!" He shouted already spinning to take out the rest of the creatures.
His plan was bent entirely on saving Lena if he had just burst into a fight in front of them many would have slipped past him, but considering the fact he was closer to them than Lena was, all their attention turned around facing him.
Lena was confused about helping Kai or doing what he told her to, she didn't want to leave him at the same time she knew she couldn't have done anything against those monsters, her breathing distorted and her face etched with confusion as she couldn't come to a conclusion finally she made up her mind.
She turned around sprinting off with all her might leaving her date to take on the horde, tears slowly rolled down her cheeks as she ran.
Kai stood his ground ready to fight those monsters a black liquid slowly rolled down his staff dripping off at the tip and his eyes burned with resolve.
The creatures, now wary, slowed their movements. Their growls softened into a low, guttural hum as they locked eyes with Kai, sensing he wouldn't be an easy kill.
Kai's grip tightened around his staff. Then, without warning, he flung it high into the air, sending it tumbling above the horde. Instinctively, the monsters' glowing red eyes followed its movement, momentarily distracted.
Seizing the opportunity, Kai launched himself straight into the mass of creatures. His legs coiled beneath him, muscles tensed, and as he crashed into one of them with both feet, his knees bent outward. With a sharp, explosive push, he straightened, sending the monster hurtling backward like a ragdoll, its body crashing into two others.
Kai soared through the air, his eyes locked on his falling weapon. With a firm grip he caught it mid flight, twisting his body as he descended.
The pointed end of the staff aimed straight for one of the creature's skulls. With his free hand he drove it down with even greater force. The weapon pierced through bone and flesh sinking deep before bursting out from its jaw in a spray of dark blood.
The monsters convulsed its red glowing eyes flickering before dulling into lifelessness, Kai wrenched his weapon free his breathing heavy there was no time to stop.
Kai was clearly outnumbered so he's only bet was to use the element of surprise against them, making them unable to predict his next move or target, with that strategy he could actually stand a chance in his current state.
Kai dashed towards one of the monsters his grip tightening around his staff muscles coiled ready to strike at the last moment he twisted his body redirecting his attack to the creature on the left.
His staff pierced through his heart tearing through flesh and bones before erupting out from its back in a gruesome spray of blood. The monster let out a strangled gurgle before going limp, but Kai had no time to retrieve his weapon.
Instinct took over. He spun on his heel his fist rocketing towards his original target, his knuckles collided with the creature's face shattering bone on impact his hand sank deep into the monster's skull the flesh wrapping around his fist as if it were about to pass straight through.
The creature's head snapped back violently its body staggering from the devastating blow immediately Kai's foot shot into the air the tip of his foot struck the monster's cheek at lightning speed the head snapped leftward violently its entire body lifted slightly off the ground before slamming back down with a heavy, bone-jarring impact.
Kai hurriedly wrenched out his staff from the other creature he killed, his body was slowly beginning to give up the more he moved around the more his injuries stung but he couldn't stop now "Four more to go" He said his breath was shaking.
The creatures watched as Kai slaughtered three of their kind but their advance never faltered. They kept moving relentlessly their glowing eyes locked on him.
Kai dashed forward but his speed was waning, his energy nearly spent. With one final burst of strength he leaped into the air, his arm coiling back ready to hurl his staff at the creature in front of him.
Then, in a flash he planted his left foot against the wall shifting his momentum midair. His target changed in an instant. Without hesitation he launched his weapon towards another monster.
The staff tore through the air at blinding speed, the force distorting the space around it. A sickening crunch followed as the tip punched through the creature's forehead erupting from the back in a spray of dark ichor.
The monster staggered its body twitching violently before collapsing, Kai dashed forward as the remaining creatures ran towards him, one in the front and the other two behind it.
With fluid precision Kai slipped past the creature in the front, his movements swift and calculated. His true target was the one behind it, without hesitation he launched his foot upward from the left, aiming straight for the monster's cheek.
At the last moment the creature raised its arm blocking the strike with unexpected reflexes. Kai's eyes widened in shock on seeing the monster portray a bit of combat sense
Before he could react the monster struck. Its massive fist rocketed towards his gut, connecting with a force that sent shockwaves throughout his body
Kai's head jerked forward a fine mist of saliva and air burst straight from his lips. Pain flared through his back, his open wounds burning like fire. Before he could recover the creature followed through with a brutal thrust of its arm sending Kai hurtling backwards
His body crashed onto the ground bouncing several times before skidding to a painful halt a sharp ache pulsing through his limbs.
The creatures ran forward without faltering their ominous red eyes fixed on Kai.
Kai laid on the floor bloodied and broken, barely breathing. But with a grimace, he pushed himself up, his legs trembling. Standing tall, his eyes burned with defiance. The battle wasn't over.
He tried to attempt one final move before his body would completely give up, his rage filling even more as he watched the monsters dash towards him, for a fleeting second he forgot he was in severe pain.
Kai's attention snapped to the right as he noticed a faint crack appearing on the wall. In an instant, the crack spread like a shockwave, and the earth trembled beneath him. Aiden's hand burst through the surface with explosive force, sending cracks rippling outward.
With a fluid, almost violent motion, Aiden's body shot forward, propelled by an unseen force. Dirt and debris flew in all directions, the air thick with the raw energy of his sudden emergence.
Kai's eyes widened in shock. The creat
ures had no idea what was coming.
