Chapter 7 - Scars

Sarafina screamed as the crowd gathered, calling the police to report harassment.

At the police station, Caleb explained that it was just a misunderstanding and that he didn't understand why she had been so sensitive these days. He apologized on her behalf, but no matter how much she tried to explain, the police refused to hear her out. Frustrated, she requested the police to drop her home.

When she got home, she was lost in thought. She didn't have enough money to run away, and Caleb still owed her a lot of money. Then, a thought flashed through her mind—the stock market. It was the only real achievement in Caleb's life. Even though he eventually crashed, he had made some money before that. Inspired by this, she decided to become a stockholder.

"I'm going to live a good life now," she told herself.

The next morning, she went to the hospital for a scan. The doctor assured her that she was fine and advised her not to stress herself too much, as it was just gastritis. After leaving the hospital, she stopped by the library to gather more information about stockholding, where she unexpectedly encountered Tony.

Noticing the books in her hands, he asked, "Are you investing in stocks?"

She didn't reply but gave a slight smile. Then, he invited her to lunch.

She felt awkward since it was their first time together. During the meal, he asked why she wanted to quit, but before she could answer, his phone rang, interrupting their conversation. He hesitated, and she told him to pick up, but he ignored the call and continued eating.

It was his sister calling, asking him to get some necessities.

Just then, a message from Solana buzzed on Sarafina's phone. She glanced at it and saw that Solana was asking to reply immediately

She ignored the message from Solana and continued her meal. Then, she noticed a scar on Tony's arm—the same scar he got when he tried to save her from the hot kettle.

She suddenly stood up, eyes wide with surprise.

"Wow! What is this? Is this from the kettle? I'm so sorry… I'm so sorry!" she exclaimed, shocked.

Tony simply smiled and assured her, "It's fine."

Still shaken, she slowly sat back down. Then, a realization hit her. The scar on Tony's arm looked exactly like the one she had in the future. At that moment, she concluded that her fate had shifted to Tony.

After the meal, they stepped outside, and Tony gently comforted her, advising her not to quit her current job, even if she wanted to enter the stock market.

"You're talented," he told her.

She thanked him for his kind words and the meal before departing for home.

Upon arriving home, she found herself thinking about how decent and thoughtful Tony was. He was much nicer in person than the way he used to frown at work.
