Chereads / Humans: The Worst Kind Of Demon / Chapter 6 - Bat Out Of Hell

Chapter 6 - Bat Out Of Hell

"Please reveal the Demon", the headmaster with a very well-groomed white beard ordered Mira as she stood across his desk in the office.

There were five other mages in the room, all of them seemingly ready to react to any unexpected situation - judging by the nervous looks on their faces - as well as a few others who seemed to be guards specialized in physical combat.

Mira seemed unphased and smug, almost looking cocky and possibly feeling invincible just because she had me - the worst kind of demon - at her command (why the hell was I even listening to her command…).

"Very well, Lord Kinsky. Here he is"

From our practices at home, I knew it wasn't necessary for Mira to make any gesture to undo the concealment magic, but she theatrically snapped her finger which made a floating sphere of darkness appear midair that looked like a miniature black hole, and it collapsed into itself as I appeared. The sphere had nothing to do with me but it sure did look impressive as it made me seem to appear from the depth of impregnable darkness.

The headmaster did very well not to move, but everyone else flinched as they saw me standing next to Mira - wearing my silly red jeans and a black T-shirt.

Well, at least I'm not wearing Miku shirts now… I wonder what she did with it. I'd like it back someday.

"Please state your name", the headmaster commanded, calm but authoritatively.

"His name is…"

"Silence, child. I would like to speak to the Human directly", the old man hushed her away without even sparing her a glance.

"Nice to meet you, Lord Kinsky. My name is Minho"

I could almost hear the mages around the room swallow.

"Are you really a Human?"

"As human as any human can be"

"Can you prove it?"

Mira then nodded to me to signal that I can do what we had discussed the night before. No one has ever seen a real human before in this world and I look just like everyone else here so it was natural that they would like some proof.

Man… this is gonna feel disgusting coming out of my mouth…

Luckily though, it didn't feel like objects had to travel from my stomach and up the esophagus. I just felt like it materialized somewhere inside my mouth or from the back of my throat in a miniature form and expanded to its full shape and size as it came out of my mouth.

After making some gross sound of regurgitating, I spat out an unsightly black creature - a bat. And this bat, probably feeling like a literal bat out of hell, flapped hard and started to fly around the room in sheer confusion to the horror of everyone in the room.

"KILL IT! KILL IT, NOW!!!"

The headmaster demanded and the five mages all conjured up some form of magic that I did not understand, but it was safe to say that they took no chances and threw all their power at this single bat to vaporize it in the air, but not only that - one of them cast a sphere that looked like a transparent balloon to trap the dead bat's blood in it.

I felt sorry for the bat but looking at the terrified faces of these insanely powerful mages made me realize that Mira was right. This really had the maximum effect.

"Do you believe me now?", Mira asked with a smirk on her face.

"Mira! That would have been a disaster if it escaped! Are you mad?! It could have bitten any of us and turned us into vampires!", an enraged mage standing close to her yelled.

Yup. So that's what these guys believed. They believed getting bitten by a bat really turns a person into a vampire.

Well, maybe that really is the case in this world, but this bat I brought from my world is just an ordinary fruit bat who'd like nothing more than to chill in darkness and eat his fruits.

"This Human Demon… could summon another demon from its mouth… Oh, Holy Gods…"

One of the guards had turned visibly pale and was standing right up against the wall now.

You are not feeling as tough as before now, eh?

"Mira, you are never to summon the vampire seedling again", the headmaster composed himself and demanded.

"Yes, Lord Kinsky", Mira theatrically bowed her head in acknowledgement.

There was a palpable tension in the air as we all stood in silence and the headmaster stroked his beard with his eyes fixed on mine.

"Would you like to see anything else?", I inquired, cheekily.

"No, that'd be all, Mr. Minho"

"Thank you, Lord Kinsky. Can we go now?", Mira asked like an impatient child, but still with a triumphant smile on her face.

"I'd like to ask Mr. Minho a few more questions"

"Please go ahead", I answered this time.

"Why did you accept Mira's summoning call?"

Well, I didn't.

"It was destiny. I was actually on my way to hell"

"Oh, Holy Gods…", more than a few mages and guards muttered at the same time, which was also exactly what we wanted although this also happened to be the truth.

"So… this is a detour from your journey to hell?"

"I guess you could say that"

"Are you aware of any other humans that have come to our world?"

"No. I'm not aware of any. And I highly doubt there will be any"

Right. This must have been a one-in-a-billion kind of freak accident.

"How long will you stay here?"

"I'm here to see to it that Mira here wins the contest"

"And after that?"

"I would like to return"

"Back to your world?"

"I should probably go to hell"

Now the air was impossibly thick in the room and I could hear the heavy breathing of very scared powerful men all around me.

"Very well… just one final question"

"Please go ahead"

"What class of Human Demon are you?"

"Class?"

"Yes, like a rank"

It wasn't a question that I've prepared for, but I had just about the right answer to give.

"Listen, Lord Kinsky"

I took a step forward, placed my palms on the headmaster's desk, and leaned forward. By now, all the mages and guards were so frightened that none of them even came to rescue the headmaster.

"All humans are equal"

I never thought that idea would scare the soul out of anyone, but it certainly did now.
